I respect John so much for not using auto tune. His voice has aged gracefully and has remained natural. The fact that he can sing like this is impressive. Using auto tune is not impressive at all.
He doesn't sound like in the 80s anymore, this version is a little more low-key, but this is obviously an age thing. Other than that he is never off-key, he hits every note, and I think this is a great performance. Not saying this as his fanboy, I actually know just this song and maybe two more.
Other than the fact the he is obviously a great singer, autotune doesn't really sound good on gritty voices like his, I imagine it would totally ruin his tone
This is a guy giving it all. He gave his voice, literally to this song for 40 years and it's taken it's toll. Yet he continues to gift fans this song. I appreciated and enjoyed it.
It's always great to see the original artist doing his/her songs regardless of age. Gorden Lightfoot is 82 and touring. Saw him when he was 78 and though he changes up the arrangement a little to make it easier on him it is awesome to see him performing... Sammy Hager is 73 and he doesn't disappoint and sounds better then most younger artists....
A timeless song by the legend himself. Anyone hating on him needs to sit down and humble themselves. Did your rock career span 4 decades? No? That's what I thought.
This song was released in 1985, so John Parr has been singing this song since then. I think his performance was just as good now, as it was, then. I sing this in karaoke, so I'm waiting for bars to open again, after the Covid-19 restriction to be lifted... ---Lee
Wow. I know his voice is a bit gruffer now, but holy shiz this still sounds fantastic to me and still totally works. Also i hope when i'm his age i have this level of energy and enthusiasm. Like this energy is life goals for me now.
His voice has almost gone but I don't blame him, he used to sing it perfectly but time takes a toll on all of us, anyone who was around when this song came out can say they were better back then in many ways too, myself included.
@@lorenmorgan1931 Yeah, unfortunately, his voice just seems exhausted (probably from having sung this song so many times!), BUT...I do give him props for at least not using auto-tune or lip syncing to a vocal track like so many "legacy" rock stars do today...not sure about his guitar or the other instruments backing him here, but Parr's vocals at least do seem to be live.
Well he is 68. He was 32 when he recorded the song originally. He’s been singing it for 36 years, I think he did a fine job considering. I remember when the song came out back in 85.
His t shirt has the American flag, hasn't forgotten he had a hit in the film St Elmo's fire,a us film and a song produced by the Canadian producer David Foster.
He's from my town in England, and was lucky enough to meet him a few times when I was in school. He was a really good friend of my music teacher and they collaborated on a charity single for us to sing, but unfortunately it didn't even make the top 100 in the uk charts.
Oh, no... Great artist and great song... but it's probably time to not do this anymore. There's no shame in that... it happens to all of the great singers.
He beats the ass off so-called artists like Amy Winehouse, God rest her. She wasn't even in the same league as this legend. So they had to drop key a bit because his voice has changed? Who cares? He's still a better singer than much of the auto tuned shit these days.
Hahaha Amy Winehouse had more talent in her little finger, cheesey 80’s music is great but doesn’t come near the depth of character and craft she brought to her music
@@JLongbow I don’t own any of her records, but she incorporates, Soul, Jazz, Motown, and many other styles. Parr incorporates, cheddar,Brie and Stilton. Cheesey but I like it sometimes. Too much cheese is bad for you though.
Wow! I'm amazed by how torched his voice is. This is surprisingly bad...and this is already lowered significantly. He STILL can't do it. The apologists in here need to get real. There are plenty of other singers his age who could have done this without the awful pitch issues he has. On the plus side, he looks good for his age; just wish he sounded even okay. Ouch...
I respect John so much for not using auto tune. His voice has aged gracefully and has remained natural. The fact that he can sing like this is impressive. Using auto tune is not impressive at all.
I like the fact that his voice is a little more rough. I think it sounds terrific!!!
But therefor they use music playback.
amen man!

I agree his voice did taken it toll
Saw him in 85 when i was 11......he is my hero. Its amazing that he's singing this for you new gen. Thats what real musicians do!!!!!!!
To all of you who saying this sucks, give him a break....the man’s approaching his 70’s. I’m surprised he’s still got that enthusiasm.
He actually got better as the song got along. Not bad for a guy at 70.

Exactly man,God Bless!
He should have stopped!! He was amazing in his day but this is a bit pathetic
Hey at least it’s not the weaknd… he had to call his concert off because his “voice” was lost.. he SPOKE this… his auto tune probably broke LOL
I love it!!! He’s a couple octaves lower but who cares!!! Song is a classic!!!
Loved no matter how old he gets! He still loves doing what he does! Great performance!!
小さい頃父が録画してたソニーミュージックTVでよく聞いてたなぁこの曲。
小さい時は英語が分からなくて適当な空耳で歌ってたけど、今は英語の歌詞も完璧に歌える大好きな曲です。

That you, Parr?
Great to see him singing live, no auto tune crap.
So true, what an Icon - love you from NZ 🇳🇿🇳🇿
Great point, seriously. I'd rather hear flawed singing than fake singing.
People , It's John Parr and "Man in Motion". It will always be a classic, period.
For a guy of his age that is still one hell of a voice that could show these young upstarts how it can be done
This song really motivated me when I was in rehab recovering from foot surgeries. Both feet from diabetes. Now I walk perfect
To all you haters this man at his age still sings and performs better then any of you could ever.
Super że na żywo śpiewał ;)
Beautiful. Brings back memories.
Amazing performance 👍❤️👍 Beautiful song 👌❤️
Quite possibly my favorite pop song of the 80s.

Wow a great song
Killer tune. Great to see him still singing it live.
Ciamik lagu iki semangaaat❤❤
Maravilhoso John Parr.... incrível como você interpreta essa música tão bem como antes. Ameiii
Saw him sing this in 2017, loved it then as much as 30 years earlier ❤️❤️❤️
Still such a powerfull voice even after all these years!
80s is back fantastic song, great soundtracksera👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🇸🇰
I would say this is even better than the original, slightly lower highlights the hoarse tone to his voice a sound I absoloutly love.
Maybe whoever is saying negative stuff about this man's voice, maybe they should go back to some of his early live performances.
Love this song and John Parr
Love this song.

One of the best songs
아직까지도 건강해 보여서 좋아요
Finally a real LIVE version! John still sounds and looks good! ❤️
Love John!!

i've been in his studio at Sykehouse.. converted barn, its nice.

It's just a different key to adjust to his current voice changes, for those who don't get it.
Yeah it makes sense now, I was wondering why it sounds so tame like im listening to yacht rock or something lol
You're a king 👑
I still love him sing Man in Motion
Yeah!!!!
Y love you ❤❤❤❤
I wanna know how he can have that lots of hair, I hope I would have as much when I will be 80
Сегодня эту песню поет Томми Йоханссон и он потрясающе ее поет.🎉

Definitely tuned down a few keys!
The Vancouver Canucks need to use this song when they win a game . Hopefully inspired to win the Stanley Cup !

works for me
He’s aged well Jesus
His voice sure didn't though, I am shocked he can sing the chorus even in this key.

This song is epic and timeless. So glad to see John Parr still healthy and rockin. But is he wearing a wig?
Hmm, he lost much of his power... original video still smashes.

How come their are no power voices like this anymore
😢😢😢😢😢
Hi
I prefer bad live than best playback
No. Just no.
I saw him sing this live 6 or 7 years ago and he sang much better than he did here. Maybe he was having an off night 🤷🏻♀️

It doesn’t look like his guitar is on
It doesn’t look like his voice is on either
There is zero live instruments in this track. Pretty sure this entire thing was rerecorded. This is really really bad!

Dude thanks making me laugh really hard
he looks like DCI jack meadows from the cops show called the bill
acoutic drums sound better but not up enough. This is a rock song.
For once I would say it actually would have been better without the backing vocals. His voice alone would have been much better.
Anniversary edition is pitch corrected and enhanced to remove his rasp fully 😅😅😅 its moronic and ruins the song
He seems behind
