How I lost my fingers. And, Ash vs. Evil Dead Prosthetic Chainsaw build.

- it's been a bit since my last video and I've had a little bit of design block on my current finger designs, so I decided to work on a "popular request" prosthetic build. A mix of the chainsaw prosthetic from Ash vs. Evil Dead and something that should be in Cyberpunk 2077. what I've designed and fabricated is a forearm mounted, retractable bar, battery powered, chainsaw sword. I hope you enjoy everything that went into this build. Please like and subscribe so I can get a little closer to earning a gold play button. Please leave a comment in the comment section and let me know what you think.
Man literally took time out of making his own badass prosthetic to fulfill everyone's admittedly dumb request and that's just rad
Cool things are sometimes dum. But there still cool.
Some would even say it’s... Groovy!
Give him a hand everyone.
Nice icon. Also, I agree. This dude's super rad.
Hail to the king
I think it's pretty sick that you've made your own prosthetic, and not only that, but a chainsaw hand. Now thats just cool.
Groovy
I'd say it's pretty groovy
also a 2 finger prosthetic and a screwdriver prosthetic

I respect how you can talk so calmly about your past problems, you've lived one hell of a life and hope you do well.
He's got the golden optimistic views, even the worst case scenario is able to be flipped for the better by him. Lose 4 fingers? Well atleast I can continue my prosthetics from before. I've got pure admiration for that level of clarity
Right! Very easy & somewhat understandable if he became a bitter person but he went the opposite way which is incredible!! I can't believe he was making hands in school before ever needing one....like wtf!?!?!
He defo has some great stories to tell to his grandsons xD
Don't worry 5 years later he will have an iron man hand
It sounds like a audio book
The fact that you even asked a company to sponsor you strapping a chainsaw to your arm is pretty badass.
I know right!? Awesome

And the fact they declined shows the cowardice of companies

I lost my left foot in Afghanistan in 2014. I was 19, depressed and alone after my fiancé broke us off. (In that time I worked on making a new foot for myself....)
I cant say you are currently my only inspiration, but seeing your struggle and achievement has defiantly helped in my recovery. I'm a few years older now and just finished my engineering degree! :D I took your platform of saw chain joint/ligament actions and have made 3 prototypes so far, for at or below the knee amputees (like myself). I have had very little luck with designs for myself or any adult. However, My design was picked up and has been used for children's prosthetics! Currently, 4 children in my general area have use of a prosthetic, chain driven and that help them walk.
I took a great deal of ideas from this video, even if it took me a 10 months. I'm proud to say this helped me make a tremendous impact in my community, so thank you for the ideas.
1000% credit has been given to you in all my patent work and scheming with the designers.
I know its late, but I hope you end up seeing this! Much love!
Great job! And congratulations on getting your idea picked up and implemented! That is so awesome! I have a group of people on Instagram that I am, as needed, helping build their own partial hand prosthetics. I get the same feeling of excitement when they send me videos of their projects improving their lives. Keep it up, you're doing great work!
C H, that’s awesome! Congrats on getting your degree, and even more for doing things for others. I wish you all the success in the world with your career. (And a new fiancé will come along eventually, too!)
@@tookitogo Thank you! I've spent these last several months working on a double chain drive, multi chain and a solid stable collapsible chain drive....I have yet to find a fit in the Adult prosthetic design (unfortunately). However myself and my one hire on engineering student. Are making markable strides for the few children in my area! It's a small impact I understand, but I'm more than fulfilled with their growth and comfort in using these custom products. Children grow and require a new prosthetic every few months. (These are paid for by my local community)....Im hoping in learning their growth and changes in need, I can focus in on a solid idea to help full grown adults like myself.
But thank you for the kind comment. I hope to report back in a short time with a great break through (and the video evidence recorded thus far to prove my idea!!)
This community is the best and I hope none of us stop the grind!

The military has several hospitals that work with amputees, I could only imagine that your skills could be put to use in that fashion. There are alot of companies who are on the cutting edge in the prostetics using pressure sensors and muscle contraction monitors in their builds. Love how you have refused to give up and stuck to your passions and skills. Keep up the great work.
Talking to the military is a pretty good idea actually. This is a significant problem for the military and they have groups dedicated to quick action engineering, and they might see how practical this hand is NOW vs a lot of the wizz-bang solutions in the pipe-line. Afik they also have they're own parallel approval track to the FDA so you may be able to get them in the field with less onerous testing. (not necessarily easier though...)
@Punished Aniquin: lots of FDA rules are "written in blood" after something went wrong and killed/maimed someone. So not intended to lock out the little guy, but might have that effect. That said, I could easily see them lumping prosthetics in with far more invasive "medical devices" which would dramatically balloon the testing and documentation requirements. Thankfully, Ian's already doing the "hard" part of the development that requires the right motivation, talent, testing, and time. The rest of the process is time-consuming and expensive, but relatively "mechanical".
I still hold out hope that one day someone hooks him up with the MIT Biophysics and Mechanical engineering departments so he can collab with minds like Hugh Herr. The work he's done with prosthetic legs is as inspiring as Ian is with his hands.
