I’m loving the new format of Blockbusters. The Hexagon Shootout is a great twist compared to playing the third game board and seeing the classic Gold Run in there too... well, it wouldn’t be Blockbusters without that! The Master himself, the legend that was Mr Bob Holness would be looking down on it with pride. And Dara is the man to do the presenting as his witty nature brings a fresh approach to game shows, since he does front Mock The Week and also guest presents Have I Got News For You from time to time and his science knowledge is incredible too..... can’t wait to see the rest of the series now
@@cutemimi25I’m sure they’ll find some out of work actor. GSN could do it fine. It’s a pedestrian quizzer and is lends itself well to the $10,000 grand prize all current GSN originals have.
@@SamHodkin23 I'm fairly certain Richard Jacques also did the Catchphrase music. I could be wrong but I know where you see Marc it's not uncommon to see Richard too.
Oh man....2012 was much better. I think this was entirely the wrong way to approach the theme. Disclaimer: If you like it, feel absolutely free to, that's your opinion and good on you for having one.
I respectfully disagree. The 2012 version sounded subdued and almost apologetic, as though the individual tasked with adapting the classic _Blockbusters_ theme tune grudgingly complied despite finding it embarrassingly outdated. (I'll take it over the 2000 version, though.) The new rendition is livelier and less restrained. It unabashedly embraces its roots, seamlessly blending the original composition with modern sensibilities.
@@davidlevy706 I really don't see(or rather, hear) what you are seeing in the 2012 one, but hey. To each their own. This one certainly sounds lively, but it just doesn't sound right to me. At all. I'm glad we can agree on the 2000 one, at least.

The best version since the original done by Central Television (ITV).
This may actually be my favourite version of the theme.
I like this format with dara o briain as host of this show
I’d love to see Blockbusters revived in thr US using the theme from the Bill Cullen era.
Tell Game Show Network or NBC about that they should revive Blockbusters...but who should host it?
@@cutemimi25if Game Show Network revives it, John Michael Higgins would be the fitting host
Or maybe a reboot with a modified version of the 1987 theme

Comedy Central US should revive Blockbusters and remaster the Bill Cullen or Rafferty theme
Dara killed the show and the theme tune, well done mate
On Comedy Central is ironic as it was originally made by Central Independent Television
I miss Bob!!😭
We all do too.
@AnubisFan 2557 yeah he will be sadly missed by us all
I know that feeling we miss Bill Cullen in the US.
They have killed it
Why is this so darn catchy?
Thankyou so much! Been looking for a clean version of the 2019 theme! The one on the TV at the start is horribly truncated.
I know, right? On the recent interations of the intro theme they always seem to cut out the middle section, which is the best bit.
RIP BOB HOLNESS NICE CATCHY THEME
Dara should've stuck with presenting Robot Wars.
This appears to be the full version which isn't actually used for the show.
They use it in the closing credits if I heard that correctly
@@kevinbell9255 Yes they do - but always talked over :(
Having Dara O'brien as a host is a kiss of death for TV shows. This died even faster than Robot Wars.
Wait
Is he related to Richard O'brien?
@@carolannedewar5066 No, Dara's last name is O'Briain (with the extra I). It's pronounced differently too.
Epic
Is this a Richard Jacques version? It sounds so much like him.
Richard Jacques and Marc Sylvan, the former explaining why it has that video game feel a la Catchphrase's revival (not a bad thing either!).
@@SamHodkin23 I'm fairly certain Richard Jacques also did the Catchphrase music. I could be wrong but I know where you see Marc it's not uncommon to see Richard too.
Is that the same as the first one
No its remixed

And hear your host for blockbusters DARA O BRAIN
The only thing they shoudlve kept is the returning champion thing

Terrible reboot, but at least the theme song is great.
