Tutorial was perfect. Only issue I'm having now is battery life. I stream and do a plethora of other content and even while I have my camera on a charger it dies within 1 1/2 hours. I got the Sony A7iii

If you have a problem with the software not being able to detect the camera, you might need to update the IE desktop to the latest version. Install, restart, and I found mine working after that.

my discord doesnt load the live video feed. it stays as the black window with the orange imaging edge webcam logo. how do i get it to show the live video. the Remote app is on and i can edit and record from the window. but, the live video will not show in discord. it might be switched into automatic, or one of the settings might be in automatic. Switch the nob to the M. If you're unfamiliar with camera settings it might take some playing around with to get the results your looking for but at least it won't change automatically

I installed the Imaging Edge. You got yours to work so seamlessly with discord, yet discord won't even recognize any connected camera for me. Zoom works without a problem. Using macOS Catalina 10.15 and sony a7riii - any tips would be appreciated
I put all the settings like they should be on my a7 III. But if I plug in the usb c cable it says "connecting USB". And nothing will happen after that. Anyone can help me?
I did everything but Sony Camera (Imaging Edge) does not show up in the list of webcams. The Sony Remote program works fine and I get a video feed through that, but Zoom doesn't recognize it. Do you have to open Imaging Edge and configure something in there? In your video you just plug in the camera and supposedly Zoom just recognizes it.
Never mind, I was using the Imaging Edge software, not Imaging Edge Webcam which apparently is a totally separate program. I have no idea why they are separate programs (with almost identical names) and why the Webcam feature isn't just part of the normal Imaging Edge program, but anyway, it's working now.
My camera goes flat after 4 hours of using it as a wbcam. I have it connected to my MOBO usb hub with with the original cable so it should be a powered input. Does anyone know what the issue is here? If its drivers where can i get a download?
@@InfamousVibezz Apparently the battery drains faster than the USB C can charge it. Having it plugged in via USB C only increases the amount of time you can use it before it turns off. I bought a Dummy Battery on amazon for roughly £30 which keeps the camera powered and then use the USB C for data.
Good Video BUT - has ANYONE EVER actually got a Sony A7iii to perform BETTER as a webcam than the stock standard cheapo webcam in HP Laptops? 16GB RAM with 500GB SSD running Windows 10 and slow stuttering "rendering" sub-par from Sony a7iii in comparison? I would have thought it capable of Superior? Shoots AWESOME pics, video (not my forte) appears very crisp.......but as a webcam? I don't think so.....USB connected to HP Laptop = Disappointment Central.
DISCORD FIX SOLUTION for missing custom cams (MAC) - force quit discord, then open terminal and paste this: sudo codesign -f -s - /Applications/Discord.app/Contents/Frameworks/Discord\ Helper\ \(Renderer\).app/ It will ask you for a password then a prompt will pop-up asking you for permissions that you will need to enable. If you using the Public Test Build version change the part it says discord.app to discord PTB.app to retarget the software that you are using. If you still have issues check if the hardware acceleration option is off. You will know if you succeeded cause all apps supporting virtual-cams will display within the drop menu. OBS included if you install this package github.com/johnboiles/obs-mac-virtualcam/releases/download/v1.2.1/obs-mac-virtualcam-4bd5852-v1.2.1.pkg just make sure you force quit OBS before installing it then restart your Mac. Run OBS go to the tools tab and enable the plugin by pressing "start virtual camera" open discord then pick OBS virtual camera.

Are you in a picture profile or is your ISO up really high? Let me know! That could be the issue.

A year late, but a workaround is to use OBS virtual camera out and then select OBS as your webcam in Zoom.

Face detection is turned off on my A6600.
In 4 seconds: only works with USB to USB-C cable... Not with USB to Micro USB!
I use a micro usb and it works just fine
