Hey Swaggle, great spotlight. Love Dr. Strange and for me he hit "A" tier when silver surfer crashed into his house on the first pages of the Infinity Gauntlet.
For the fourth choice I would have picked Marvel Premiere #3 which began his noteworthy run up to issue 14 and mostly featured the beautiful Brunner art and great Cosmic Horror storyline. Shuma Gorath looks to be the Big Bad in Multiverse Of Madness and it first appeared in this Dr. Strange MP run. This run also led into Dr. Strange #1 (the next entry on your list) with the awesome Brunner work which continued for a time.
@@wowisntitanamazinglyamazin9550 I fully agree. To me Brunner is right up there with Ploog, Jeff Jones, and Barry Smith (pre Windsor). I put Wrightson and Frazetta at the pinnacle, but Frank Brunner and a very few others are just just a notch below. The Howard The Duck stories Brunner did in HTD 1 and 2 and GS Man-Thing 4 and 5 are tops.
Another great list, I agree with you on the undervalued FF cover appearance. I've owned just about all the Marvel keys over the years, but Strange Tales #110 has always eluded me. My pride and joys are the #169 and a Strange Tales #115 which has his origin and a Spidey appearance ( reprinted in Marvel tales #2, which is still cheap ). I loved Spider-Man when I was a kid and my Dad gravitated towards the wordier books like Thor and Doctor Strange, and that relaunched Dr. Strange #1 with the incredible Brunner art was one of his favorites. Now when I come across those books they give me a massive wave of nostalgia. The Dr. Strange run starting with Marvel Premiere #3 should get an honorable mention as it led into the new #1 and also had Brunner art and some really great covers, plus you can occasionally still find affordable copies in auctions and in back issue bins.
I was commissioned to make a frame for Dr. Strange #1 and incorporated that background design on the cover into the paint scheme for the frame. Turned out really nice (and was fun to paint). Wish I could post a pic....
Dr. Strange has ALWAYS been one of my favourite Marvel characters. Doctor Strange #41 (with Man-Thing!) was my first introduction to the Marvel universe, and where my little mind managed to connect the dots that all these stories were interwoven into the same world.
DOCTOR STRANGE has always been a favorite of mine. I have F.F. #27 (He was in his astral form on the cover), MARVEL FEATURE #1 and DOCTOR STRANGE #1 vol. 2. I love these videos you do.
I would love to have a couple Dr. Strange keys. Knew nothing about him untill the movies. As a DC fan boy and someone who's been in the hobby for nearly 10 years it's quite nice to be a n00b about certain characters in comics.
This one is right in my wheelhouse (Huge Doc Strange fan and the Defenders are my favorite Marvel team by miles) and we are certainly of like mind on 4/5! I do not have an FF 27 and the thought never occurred to me, so my fifth pick is Marvel Premiere 3 (the Doctor Strange reboot that leaves off with issue 14 and continues in the Doctor Strange 1 with the killer Brunner cover). I am fortunate to own all of these, though the 110 is one of those books that was likely stored in a barn for 40 years (it's a 1.8, and looks every bit of it).
I picked up the #1 V2 recently in cbcs 8.5 for a fair price and I'm pretty stoked to own it. I agree on the aesthetic of the cover art. Id like to get a higher grade soon money permitting.
Actually I own all the books you profile here, the best thing about that is as a huge Defenders fan I own the first appearance of a founding member ( or non-member ) of the Defenders. I can’t afford Incredible Hulk 1 and I certainly can’t afford Marvel Comics #1.
I remeber Dr Strange A bit, didn't they make a movie on him? In the 90s, Chuck liked him, but I was never really into it, I always thought it was a boring plot for a character
@@Swagglehaus Remember that Captain America movie back in the 70's where he wore a motorcycle helmet and had a clear shield? Imagine that, only Doctor Strange style and you pretty much have it. If you are a fan of bad b-movies (I am), then you'll definitely find something to enjoy, but go in with zero expectations.
Hey Swag, I own Doctor Strange 169 in CGC 6.0 and Doctor Strange 1 vol 2 in CGC 7.5 and I have a raw copy of Marvel Feature 1 (maybe a FN-FN+). Curious to see how much higher these books get when trailer comes out.🤞🏼
So I had no clue who Doctor Strange even was until I saw him in the MCU. He quickly became my absolute favorite after that movie. The character impressed me so much that I’ve gone back and bought his earlier runs. This is me at the LCS looking thru a Doctor Strange longbox now… m.ruclips.net/video/mvHluDsB790/видео.html
Sawaggle: Can you bring back this character analysis w/ current market in mind? (maybe it’s the same?) Would you rather own a 3 graded ST 110 or a 9.2 graded FF 27 or a 9.2 graded DS 169?
Just some constructive criticism here- When you do these looks at prices in different grades don't rush past the mid grades and dismissively mention "you won't see too many CGC here". If the truth were known most copies of Bronze and older by far are in the mid grades and most of them aren't slabbed. A lot of collectors still value the book over the slab and don't drink the CGC Kool-Aid.
Thanks for the input. My main thing is just trying to point out interesting comics and I figure most people will eventually do their own research on prices. But I always try to throw out what the raw book prices are on the low end to give people a sense. That said I could dig in more to prices but dont' want the videos to linger on too long :P
1st!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 Covers on them books bro! Great video👌🏽👊🏽😎🔥#growtogether
w00t, thanks!
We all know the only reason Strange Tales 110 is ecpensive is because of Paste Pot Pete
hahaha, big true!
Hey Swaggle, great spotlight. Love Dr. Strange and for me he hit "A" tier when silver surfer crashed into his house on the first pages of the Infinity Gauntlet.
Great point! Infinity Gauntlet was huge for him, and def peaked my interest in the character when I was a kid.
@@Swagglehaus as did many many more kids!!
Even though Dr. Strange has had some success in the movies he is still an undervalued character. THANKS for sharing Sagglehaus!
Totally agree!

That's def a great pick. Those marvel premiere books are really cool and like you said, could be good spec with the movie.
Man i love Brunners artwork for strange. Honestly what made me fall in love with Strange

Thanks for sharing that! Yeah great point. Those Marvel Premiere books are great and could really get hot with the next movie.
@@Swagglehaus I had just gone through mine a few days before looking for the Warlock issues!
bought Marvel Premiere 10 and the next day the Shuma-Gorath news dropped.
Oh yeaaaaahhhhh!!!
w00t! Congrats, nice pick up

Oh that's awesome. Would love to see that!
Strange Tales 110 is a great Paste Pot Pete appearance. Oh yeah, your live video the other night was lot of fun.
Glad you enjoyed it. haha, yes, all Paste Pot Books are on fire ;)
Recently got That Strange #1 as a graduation gift. Love the cover so much

Yeah there are a lot of great ones out there. And I think new classics will pop up soon as we continue to get him in the MCU.
I love the Strange Tales run of Dr Strange and in general... great video 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for watching!
JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #78 Doctor Strange prototype is another great book, and it's much more affordable range without breaking your bank account. LOL!
Oh that's a really interesting one for sure! I'll have to take a look :D
Have 3 of 5 in high grade...missing strange tales 110 and marvel feature 1.....great content and video. Thumbs up!!!
Thanks so much :D
Love this format man. Would love to see more of this for undervalued keys. Dr strange FA AOA undervalued key!
I'll be looking for that Marvel Feature run. Great content as always swag!

I've been buying up copies of Strange Tales 110 - VERY undervalued book.
For sure! I've been keeping my eye out for one. Would love to add to the PC
Strange tales 118 deserves to be on this list. 1st cover and 1st orb of Agamoto still very affordable.
Def a great book!

That Doctor Strange #169 is a awesome looking cover
I remeber Dr Strange A bit, didn't they make a movie on him? In the 90s, Chuck liked him, but I was never really into it, I always thought it was a boring plot for a character
