Thx for watching. You do feel the weight but for me it is more about bigger burrs and longer crank. I had grinders that were much more tiresome to use, like J Max , but when you compare it with effortless grinding on C40 the difference is noticeable.
I was really waiting for that video, first of all I was very happy to see that I also have my commandante on 21 clicks after many tests for the pour over. I Initially had Kinu Titan and still have it, and I thought it will be and all round grinder with the pour kver burr, but I was really disappointed with the pour over results. And then I tried the Commandante and I was really impressed by the difference. From your video, I see that the 600€ price for C60 is not really justified, paying more than double to get 5-10% better and I dont think its even gonna be the best in the espresso. Thats my thoughts and I'm not really happy that there is no one grinder that rules them all, for me Kinu for espresso and Comandante for pout over :(
Thx for being patient 😛 I have to to agree with your last statement. Kinu was always my favourite for espresso and C40 was always in the top 2 for pour overs. Kinu Titan is exactly the same as classic but different material and more expensive? I will play with C60 for some time and compare it with K Ultra b4 I make my final decision. The price of C60 is crazy. Not bad grinder but not sure if it is worth that much, unless I am missing something.
@@mycoffeeshow111 Yes the titan is the exact same just more expensive, and tbh a bit regretting that I bought the more expensive model. You said Comandante coming in the top two, what is the other one ?
And is the K-Ultra good enough for espresso ? Fun fact, the first grinder I've owned was the K Ultra and I was using It for turkish coffee, but after some time I thought it was broken so I returned it 😅
After watching the video... I'm sure I won't upgrade to the C60... 5-10% better is not enough for more than double the price... and the burrs, while bigger, are still conical... for less money you can get a Pietro grinder which has flat burrs, and maybe we will see more flat burrs hand grinders from big brands in the near future. The steel unibody is cool, but in engines that is important for performance, in a coffee hand grinder it's just for show. I think Comandante will still have to rely on the C40 for the most profit. Thank you for the review!
Thx for watching. It is definitely not a bad grinder and I really wanted it to become my one and only hand grinder that I would compare others with . Well, we will see how it stands against K Ultra and then I will have to make the final decision.
@@wakeawaken430 Not really, you can work on conical as much as you want, but (at least until now) you can't have as much unimodal grid with conical as you can have with flat. Right now I can't afford a new grinder but when I do, I'll get the most unimodal thing I can get... and I'm quite sure it will be flat burrs.
@@varieedeventualii coffee is a personal thing I get unimodal enough grind with a modern conical grinder, too much unimodal is not good, espresso needs fines also
Hi Thanks for the video For espresso only, how does c60 compare with k plus or max ? Does it worth to upgrade from k plus (max) to c60 just for body and taste ?
@@Arashasadi23 hi, thx for watching! If you ever tried c40 then expect the same. I have a dedicated video comparing C60 with K grinder (ruclips.net/video/mIJiaSaFnmU/видео.htmlsi=u8n5SCbOALvSgDPA ). C60 would possibly be slightly better but the difference is small especially when you think about the price.

Well I have some good news for you, I have Kaleido M1 roaster and La Pavoni listed on EBay. I wait with K Ultra till after comparing it with C60 one on one battle. And if you interested even my MC5 could be available. Pleasure doing business with you!
I guess the price difference is lesser when you take in count c40 without red klix is just too big of steps. Not that it makes the c60 cheap in anyway hehe. Thanks for the video really appreciate you getting it! Looking fwd for the comparison with the ultra. Im now using the heptagonal q2, I wonder how is it in next to the c60 for pour over
@@mycoffeeshow111 not so expensive but its sort of a must, and ppl forget that when comparing prices..so c40 isn't 270-300euro but 310-350~.. but anyways I think its a bit overpriced and won't be iconic like c40. Let's see what Black Friday will bring hehe
Hey Jack, I have two questions: - what's your experience in the coffee industry - are you shooting with gopro? I find the wide angle a little bit confusing
Hi, sure. I have drunk coffee since the age of 7 and for the last 3 and a half years I have been comparing different grinders and brew methods. So it is a hobby. You can see it in the motto of this channel: how to have fun while making coffee at home. I use Sony ZV E10 with sigma 1.4f lens and sometimes IPhone 15Pro. What could be improved with the angle? Thx for feedback!
@@mycoffeeshow111 thanks for the answer :) I know it's hard to shoot in the kitchen, but probably shooting from a slightly longer distance could help. I'm not the video person, and of course it's your creative decision :) but you can test moving the camera slightly away from you to get the more natural looking shot. Good luck with the channel!
@@Xouted thank you very much! Not sure if my countertop is big enough and wider angle would show all the mess around but I will definitely look into that.
You need to compare the C 60 with the King M47 Classic or Titan and/or the Mazzer Omega or Omega X. I have the C40 with the Red Clix and the lengthier handle and I am a huge fan of that. I have my settings at 17 clicks from Zero and I hardly change that. Obviously, those settings will probably change based on roast and coffee type (and I stick with the same roaster and same blend). I generally use Dark roast for my espresso (we all know why). Where the C40 beats the K Ultra and many other grinders is in the ease of grinding. It does take significantly longer to grind than the K Ultra, especially when grinding for espresso. The C60 on the other hand, has a 47 mm burr (similar to the K Ultra) while the M47 has a 46 mm burr and is also all steel/titanium (The classic and the titan at least). Also , when one is investing in such high priced grinders like the K Ultra and the C40/C60/Kinu/Mazzer, I am fairly sure a larger percentage of those people have multiple grinders depending on their workflow.
@@KalidasRadhakrishnan I had Kinu Phoenix and it was great for espresso. C60 has 60mm burrs which at least in theory should make a huge difference. In reality it is possibly a bit better than C40 while the price difference is huge. I sold it long time ago. I would like to try Omega X at some point.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I saw that the price here is $600+. That is a bit insane. Coming to think of it, after the Red clix and the large handle, the C40 itself came close to $400. But at least I am able to dial in my pour over and my espresso shots every time. I have my eyes on King M47 Classic. I currently switch between the K Ultra and the C 40 and the Sette 270Wi for my espresso shots (The Bette when I have to make espresso for more than just me and my wife).
Have been trying my unit for a few days, still wondering where do you find its serial number to known which c60 model they made ended up on your hands lul. Anyway, some food for thought. This is a larger burr c40, so it suggests and did probably bring out more separation and complexity in flavor. As per comandante's burr characteristics the taste is the usual clean, balanced and mid way between everything taste but just bigger, wider and deeper in every dimension. But unfortunately not by that much noticable difference to c40. So for anyone, in terms of analogy to describe this, it's just like, you didn't spend 5-600 bucks for a new grinder but own a very good copy of c40(above usual variance in productiojn quality of the hardware) only when comparing a pour over taste. Someday you might ended up with better roasted beans in a bag, poured decently and had a very good mood to appreciate and pick up flavors, you probably just think that you did brew a good cup today better than average, but not with a different grinder. That's all. End of day, this is more like say if you own an old M1 chip apple computer and its just as fast as the latest CPU chip. The latest is definitely faster, but not by much. In terms of browsing web, replying messages, you might feel its snappier or simply not at all. That is all. C40 has already been that good that it's harder to go above the sweet spot for the majority. However, for espresso this is a different story with c60 for me. It's much finer, and faster grinding. A larger burr inherently could mean slightly higher portion of fines. Combined with the finer grind size it did make my espresso much more better tasting than c40. At least for me. I normally would rank my c40 below both my kinu and mazzer omega only for espresso. C40 makes decent espresso to me with its usual clean and transparent taste that usually lacks in body, sweetness and explosiveness of flavor compared to the other two. This time however, with c60 it finally stands up to the same line of level competition to the other two. Now you can see It's just too bad this grinder only happenned late in 2023, so many good bloody years later after c40, so heavy and expansive, and probably very hard to acquire one. If not that could potentially make this the one grinder to rule everything for a lot of people. But by now this choice just has too many deal breaking points. Only making it more like a luxury item for most. Imagine you have a different material V60 dripper hand made only for you, but won't taste aparently better than a plastic mass produced one. There are just too many other things in life needs your funds unless you could not resist one.
@@jamesjin8839 First of all, congratulations! Have you got this new colour or the same as mine. There should be a note inside the box with the number. I agree with all you said. Are you planning to keep it? If so, maybe with a bit of seasoning it will get even better.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I got the so called nautilus blue color between choices as I suspect that the silver would be very prone to visual deteoriation like all the scratches and etc. The appearance is already "seasoned" enough color that it look like a reef stone in rich particles. My box came sealed but I didn't notice the note that came with the box number note. I though it was marked on the burr or something. I'd keep it for a while to see if this would be beating all my mazzer/kinu for the best hand grinder so far. I'm a sucker for sweetness so I already prefer mazzer/kinu both over c40. Will give it sometime to see if this burr seasoned would rise over all. Thanks.
@@jamesjin8839 If I remember correctly there was a sticker with the number on the manual/leaflet in the box. Btw, next week I am reviewing Blade R3 grinder- I guess you would like it as well- it grinds for very satisfying espresso shots and decent pour overs.
@@mycoffeeshow111 lol you're right. It wasn't a sticker. It's the bloody manual itself stating this is #0004 one a 500 batch. Though batch series unknown so I doubt it was ever the first #0004 grinder built anyway. Based on gossip I got somewhere probably still within the first 700-1000 units worldwide? who am I to know, I heard Kasuya had the 1st ever unit C60 our of factory so I'm no where near important individual to ever be that lucky getting so high up in the list being special. Well, I'd not hold high hope on another hand grinder as I've tried a couple already. Kinu still has a special place in my heart as a whole package including taste, grind experience. My unit is the Titan version so I'd probably keep it more like a collector unit. Same as this C60. C40 could be my throw around toy as main driver since its easier to ever replace in any possibility. Compared to c40 I prefer mazzer omega taste greatly only because I like sweetness and intentsity of flavor. So if omega consistently produce sweeter cups I'll just offload my c40 somewhere and keep the mazzer as daily driver. As you can see I have enough supply for long time to come for grinder in place to operate. Honestly in the interest of time I sometimes just do a quick hand made matcha latte on my own. It's umami, sweet and earthy enough as a caffeine beverage. If not for coffee beans sometimes displays larger variety of tastes when I got bored with tea, I'd stick with it easily for its simplicity to prepare. I'll definitely chime in for a grinder review to show appreciation for being friendly and helpful so far. But sill I doubt I could be interested further.
@@jamesjin8839 Kinu is also one of my favourites, for espresso. K ultra is my go to for pour overs. I was thinking about Omega but I had it in my hands and for the price I was expecting more. Maybe I am wrong though.
Hello. Is this Comandante C60 Baracuda Velvet Steel? I have been the owner of a C40 for 3 years now. I cook cezve most of all. Can this coffee grinder grind on a regular basis? I really want to buy a C60, but there are so few reviews on it. Is she really good?
Hi, the body of C60 is made of single block of steel. It is very good and you can use it daily. It is faster than C40 but similar in taste. I think there are grinders out there that are as good if not better but for much less.
I have had more than 8 hand grinders and i still love my C40 for pour over... but i got KingGrinder K6 and for its price is a great grinder!!! I'm too poor to get the c60... Btw they come with different jars because each jar has a different function...Plastic Jar retains all the microfines, even if it looks clean you can pass your fingers and you'll find all the microfines it catch, that means you can go 1-2 clicks finer with using the plastic jar.... the glass jar is for storage or you can use it with the grinder, it will not retain the fines, so you have to grind a bit coarser with glass jar...
Thx for the info. I already sold my C40 so will have to stick with plastic. Apparently you can also use it as espresso glass. I think, just for aesthetics I would prefer a metal jar coming with C60.
The main purpose of that is to build up the anticipation. It also allows me to chat with viewers live during the video. It should be a good one- worth waiting.

@@mycoffeeshow111 Yes I really would like to hear your opinion about K4 & k6 in comparison with other grinders of 250€+ range, cause you have experience from many of them They are very cheap but very well made, the axle for example is too thick, can handle electric drill with no problem, certified by the company Total cost of K4 & k6, less than 200€ for both
Returned my c40 mk3 because of poor wood issue, stopped being interested after they replaced nice glass jars with some stupid colored plastic (which feels and looks pathetic), bought timemore c3esp and din't looked back. I sell my Volkswagen Golf for 500$ less than this grinder 😂😂😂😂. Regarding sales, they will soon face the reality... And understand their price tag are not too expensive but crazy. It's much more than too expensive it's a madness they took drugs.
Agree. I spoke with people on many coffee forums and some say Comandante doesn’t plan to sell many of C60 and it is just very limited edition. Their main product is still C40.
How dare them not giving you one ☝🏻. I’ve seen some comments from their instagram account justifying the price… 20% bigger yet 3 times more expensive. Weird marketing strategy
Hahaha, well at least they sent me a nice email explaining why I am not important enough. Most companies just ignores me 😛. I have a funny feeling that the price of it will go down. Or maybe that is their strategy to sell more C40 grinders?
I'm genuinely frustrated by the C60. it's a nice moderate upgrade over the C40 in flavor, but a HUUUUUUGE jump in price, as well as so many features that they should have taken inspiration from from other mfgers innovrations and didn't. they still use the floating burr that's not on a fixed axel like the 1zpresso lineup, their burrs on the C60 are barely changed (which isn't horrible), they still struggle to come close to great espresso, and my god, that PRICE. I don't mean to suck 1zpresso's wang here, but they're producing grinders that can make better espresso (J-Ultra/JE-Plus), better all around filter grinders (ZP6, K-max/K-Ultra) and 1zpresso's quality of life upgrades (external dial adjustement, fixed burr on the axel, magnetic catch cups, etc) that drastically outpace the C40/C60. Commandante had a real chance to incorporate a lot of the modernizations to the hand grinding world that other companies are employing, but they simply dropped the ball and made a slightly tweaked burr set for their old chassis and just made it slightly bigger while charging double the price. I WANT to love the C60, but they really made it hard to justify why I should spend that price while others are doing better for cheaper (although I love the stainless steel construction and cheap catch cups of the C40... they do make them meticulously well) Don't get me wrong. had they released this for $399 MSRP I would genuinely consider it, but $600 is basically Commandante thinking they're too big to fail. It makes zero sense for all but hobbyists/collectors who want it just cuz...kind of like appealing to niche Vinyl collectors. This release just seems weirdly tone deaf by Commandante and misses the general enthusiast market nearly completely
Well, I pretty much agree with everything you said. Interestingly, my next video is almost ready and it will be C60 vs K Ultra. As for the price of C60 they give us some bs about how expensive it is to produce it from one block of steel but who the heck ever asked for that? According to someone close to Comandante, they never intended C60 to be produced on large scale (again, what is the point then). There must be some long term strategy here but I am not wise enough to get it.
@@mycoffeeshow111 yeah, as a machinist millling from a block of steel IS more expensive, but not THAT much more. I'm just genuinely wondering who their market was for this one, and WHY they did what they did. They're fighting 1zpresso for "king of the premium hand grinders" right now for popularity and losing BADLY, and I really don't want them to. competition is good and it just has me really scratching my head what is going on behind closed doors at commandante headquarters. It almost feels like they're stuck back in 2015 when they were the only real big hand grinder out there and are ignoring all of the advances that everyone elsle has made the last 6 or 8 years oooo, I defintely want to see the comparison between the K-Ultra and the C60. @@mycoffeeshow111 Yes the titan is the exact same just more expensive, and tbh a bit regretting that I bought the more expensive model. You said Comandante coming in the top two, what is the other one ?
And will be waiting for sure for your further review for C60
@@kareemismailmohamed for pour over it is usually between K Ultra and C40
You must get out from your mind that flat>conical
That myth is already debunked, what matters is the burr geometry
@@wakeawaken430 Not really, you can work on conical as much as you want, but (at least until now) you can't have as much unimodal grid with conical as you can have with flat. You see, I'm quite peculiar...sure I enjoy taste but the more separation and clarity I get the more I smile when I drink coffee, even if the beans are not great. Right now I can't afford a new grinder but when I do, I'll get the most unimodal thing I can get... and I'm quite sure it will be flat burrs.

For espresso only, how does c60 compare with k plus or max ?
Does it worth to upgrade from k plus (max) to c60 just for body and taste ?
@@Arashasadi23 hi, thx for watching! If you ever tried c40 then expect the same. I have a dedicated video comparing C60 with K grinder (ruclips.net/video/mIJiaSaFnmU/видео.htmlsi=u8n5SCbOALvSgDPA ). I guess the price difference is lesser when you take in count c40 without red klix is just too big of steps. Not that it makes the c60 cheap in anyway hehe. Thanks for the video really appreciate you getting it! Looking fwd for the comparison with the ultra. Im now using the heptagonal q2, I wonder how is it in next to the c60 for pour over
Thx for watching. Red clix is just £45 so not expensive. For the price of C60 they should include a brush and a carring case.
@@mycoffeeshow111 not so expensive but its sort of a must, and ppl forget that when comparing prices..so c40 isn't 270-300euro but 310-350~..

The Comandante C60 grinder is expensive. Do you recommend buying it? Thank you
If you love C40 and want something similar but faster, go for it it. Otherwise you can find better grinders for less.
Hey Jack, I have two questions:
- what's your experience in the coffee industry
- are you shooting with gopro?
I currently switch between the K Ultra and the C 40 and the Sette 270Wi for my espresso
shots (The Bette when I have to make espresso for more than just me and my wife).
there are so little reviews and comparisons of C60. Is it too early or maybe it's because C60 is not worth it? anyway glad you did it, Jack, thx
Thank you. It was not easy to get and the price can be an obstacle. I haven’t watched any videos b4 recording to avoid being influenced.

I WANT to love the C60, but they really made it hard to justify why I should spend that price while others are doing better for cheaper (although I love the stainless steel construction and cheap catch cups of the C40... they do make them meticulously well)
Don't get me wrong. had they released this for $399 MSRP I would genuinely consider it, but $600 is basically Commandante thinking they're too big to fail.
It almost feels like they're stuck back in 2015 when they were the only real big hand grinder out there and are ignoring all of the advances that everyone elsle has made the last 6 or 8 years
oooo, I defintely want to see the comparison between the K-Ultra and the C60. I sold my K-max to get the K-ultra (yay for 2:00 am drunk purchases) and the K-ultra is my #1 filter hand grinder right now. I like it BARELY more than the C40
