Dont know if this is something youve learned yet but if you go to the company building too soon you cant sell your items at full price, the earlier you go back the less its worth. Should only head back to sell things when you hit 0 days left to meet the quota, everything sells at 100%. When its says you have 1 day left you actually still have time to make 1 more trip to a planet to get more loot. Spoilers ahead for how to deal with the dog. The dogs are blind and will only attack you if you make noise.
the walkie is usefull if you have someone on the ship, because they can 1) tell you if there are cretures that are about to rip you apart, 2) they can turn off turrets ,which is a big deal, 3)you canlock contaiment doors to trap, block or escape monsters.
