It is strange watching TNT head-bopping along and smiling to this song... They are listening to the music, obviously, which has an upbeat tempo to it. The LYRICS on the other hand are devastating. Probably the best song about divorce and the emotion that happens when you say goodbye to someone that you cared about for so long. To make matters more incredible... these people all stood on stage together and SANG this song about their marriages which had fallen apart. Really professional for ABBA... but on a human level... it must have been incredibly hard.
This is a perfect example of the genius of Benny & Bjorn's songwriting and the beautiful lead vocals of the wonderful Agnetha and backed up by Freda's excellent harmonies. This song is about as 'Abba' as anyone will ever get. Beautiful song, wonderful and iconic pop band from the 70's and '80's.
I could see the girl gets the message, she prob feels the lyrics where as the guy didn't get the message of the song and could be feeling the same in the event of a break-up, basically just laugh it through without any heartache.
Agnetha's voice manages to pull your heartstrings even when she's singing happy stuff. Listen to how her voice literally shakes here when she says "you've come to shake my hand"

The hook, the winner takes it all is just what each person in the breakup thinks about the other. Because I was sick in the hospital, my wife filed and took my child and everything we owned and moved to another state. Those things were physical. I know her, she thought what she lost emotionally. These two in ABBA broke up publicly. One writes the song;one sings it. It’s the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever heard. What was she going to do when he gave her the song and ask her to sing it. All that they had together belonged to both of them because they had earned it together as ABBA under one name.other bands have done it Gwen stafan I did it with no doubt with a guy in the band with don’t speak which was the number one song on the billboard chart at that time. I really don’t see how they did it because they were teenagers. Was it first love. Thanx for your reaction. Though it gets me every time I still watch reactors watch it.
You should react to Eagle. Watch the video that is 5:55 long & is live at the Starcade in Germany in 1977. You have never heard such high pitched harmonies with their vocal range. Summer Night City when they're live at Wembley Stadium in London is also great.
Very sad song. I always found it very moving. How much courage does it take to have to sing and make this video together after going through a painful divorce.
Great reaction. I was a big ABBA fan in the 70's but kept it a secret because my friends and I were Black Sabbth, Deep Purple , etc. fans. When this came out later , it became one of my favorites. Later I found out that the song was about her divorce with the husband who also wrote the song! Then she had to sing it with him! I still love the song but it gives me tears when I listen to it and feel her pain.
Abbas where married to each other and both couples divorced and this song reflects what happened to them, most of their songs are about their life experiences
Before watching the video, it is necessary to be clear that ABBA was formed by two couples: this song makes reference to the divorce of Agneta (one of the “A”s in the group's name) herself, who was married to Björn (one of the “B”s in the group's name): the song was written by Björn for her, which she still considers ABBA's best song. That is, it is a report of a drama that they had within the group!
She followed all the rules, she haf to follow the judges ruling, because she abides by the rules! This song is sooo sad, they both lost and he probably doesnt even see it. I hope the Judge did and she was the winner in that RESPECT, and took it all😢😅
You guys should read the story about this it’s about Agnetha and Bjorn’s divorce so those emotions you are seeing from Agnetha is very genuine I’m sure she was in pain and when the other 2 band members got divorced later it broke band up they all suffered it’s sad
I am from sweden so obviously i am bios here. But Abba is one of a kind and even if they where not from Sweden I would love them. It's not about them beeing from from any country, it's all about their nusic I would say. The beat and music is foremost the one thing that sticks to you. Not so much of the song or text of the song. The beat and the music is what get's stuck in the body. Sure there are planty ot "NEW" artists today that can move ones spirits, but, No one can move you like Abba. It is true and authentic. One other artist that comes to mind, now adays, is Lady Gaga, she is one true artist and can sing from her heart...just like Abba.
Not exactly Their marriage had broken up a year and a half ago. And the video was filmed after the legal ruling of the divorce (not during their breakup) And the lyrics were composed by her ex-husband, but the music by the pianist Benny
Do you seriously believe that Björn was so callous as to write lyrics like "tell me,does she kiss, like I used to kiss you",and THEN ask his soon to be ex-wife to sing them? Jeez 🙄
Her voice is... Impossible. It has the pure, innocent, light feeling, its almost childlike but it ALSO has the power and stability leaving no doubt that she is absolutely a full on growaxx woman. I cant wrap my brain around it, these should be mutually exclusive. How?
Abba proved that pop music didn't have to be vacuous throw away bubble gum pop. They wrote songs that really touched a raw nerve, based on real life experiences and people related to it. Compare that to today in pop music, where we have a 55 year old Kylie Minogue singing about bedding some bloke in a bar - pa dum. The dumbing down of music continues unabated by airheads and absorbed by fellow airheads.
This is a song written by a man who wrote it from the perspective of his ex-wife and then he gave it for his ex to sing it and shine. What a big soul. Or, in short, swedish.
I like your take on the song. But I think in the video you also see how she feels left out of her former friend group. That's the other thing about relationships - your friends take sides and you lose friends that you were close to. It's sad and deeply impactful on two levels - you lose your best friend and you also lose a circle of friends sometimes. Love what you both are doing - you both seem very sweet!
……is he on gummies ?? Please do the reactions solo for now on. Tasha is much more serious about the reactions ! В настоящей любви - два победителя!❤❤❤
ABBA in the begining two swedish couples:
Agnetha (blonde singer) &
Björn (guitarist songwriter)
Benny (pianist songwriter) &
Anni Frida (brunette singer)
both couples separated before the breakup of ABBA in 1982:
Agnetha & Björn at end of 1978
Benny & Frida at begin 1981
"The winner takes it all" (1980)
is one of the Best Songs by ABBA
and the Most sad and emotional too
The best lyrics by the guitarist Björn
and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation
of the lead singer Agnetha Fältskog and her soprano voice
The lyrics is a fiction about a divorce,
it is not about Their real life,
although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences
and the realization of the legal divorce
between Agnetha & Björn in the middle of 1980,
even though They were no longer a couple or lived together
more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978
In fact, the song was more nearly in time to the split of Benny & Frida as a couple,
only a few months later
The Official Video have more than 120 millions views in RUclips,
was filmed on July 12 (1980), is a Masterpiece as the song
it shows the blonde singer Agnetha alone so sad and remembering happy times,
and the others members so nice together, a perfect example of contrast feelings
It's the first ABBA vídeo with images in black and white about Their previous history,
to introduce us in the context; I think it's their best official video
but just as a great performance by Agnetha is seen in these video,
almost like a dramatic actress, transmitting the sorrow, anguish and pain,
(there are also videos in the back room of the filming, which show the four cheerful and fun)
"The winner takes it all"
return ABBA to the Top of the charts,
gives ABBA their eighth #1 in UK after almost two years and half
Also was the fourth and last Top10 to ABBA in U.S (pick at #8 in 1981)
and #1 in US Adult Contemporary too
"The winner takes it all"
was voted the Best ABBA song by the British fans,
and is the favourite ABBA song to the blonde singer Agnetha
and now in the new Voyage concerts at London the encore song is...
"The winner takes it all"
For a next reaction my suggestion is
"Super Trouper" (1980)
in the same album, the next #1 in UK
with the brunette singer Frida in lead voice
I wish to You a greatest week

Very sad song. I always found it very moving. How much courage does it take to have to sing and make this video together after going through a painful divorce.
Great reaction. I was a big ABBA fan in the 70's but kept it a secret because my friends and I were Black Sabbth, Deep Purple , etc. fans. When this came out later , it became one of my favorites. Later I found out that the song was about her divorce with the husband who also wrote the song! Then she had to sing it with him! I still love the song but it gives me tears when I listen to it and feel her pain.
Great reaction are you joking!
Still find it amazing how he wrote this about his wife and she sang it. Its just incredible
This might be the finest female pop vocal ever recorded.
Take a listen to Abba's last song, "The day before you came", such a beautiful but sorrowful song too!
Really haunting piano!!
Nothing compare❤❤❤❤
Agnetha ...beatifuuuull🎹🎤💐😘💖
Abbas where married to each other and both couples divorced and this song reflects what happened to them, most of their songs are about their life experiences
Björn wrote it about after the breakdown of his and Agatha's marriage. He is the piano player and Agatha is the lead singer.
Benny plays piano, he was married to Frida.
We ALL wish we got Tasha!😉😄
Those of us w the benefit of google and wikipedia NOW also didnt know what the song was about the first time we heard it either! 😂😂
Interesting watching the two reactions: she got it; he didn't!
That is, it is a report of a drama that they had within the group!
great reaction :D cheers.
The guy on the left is a nutter. Emotionally blunted! Seriously. Smiling? Nodding?
Not everyone enjoys music the way you do, there’s no need to be mean
She followed all the rules, she haf to follow the judges ruling, because she abides by the rules! This song is sooo sad, they both lost and he probably doesnt even see it. I hope the Judge did and she was the winner in that RESPECT, and took it all😢😅
You guys should read the story about this it’s about Agnetha and Bjorn’s divorce so those emotions you are seeing from Agnetha is very genuine I’m sure she was in pain and when the other 2 band members got divorced later it broke band up they all suffered it’s sad
Agnetha and Björn broke up as a couple a year and half before these ...
The pain was before, not now
I was feeling down so the doctor told me to take two ABBA songs every day 🐈⬛🐈🫂♥️
I am from sweden so obviously i am bios here.
She recorded and filmed the video during the breakup of her marriage. Her now exhusband wrote the song as their marriage was imploding.
Not exactly
Their marriage had broken up a year and a half ago.
And the video was filmed after the legal ruling of the divorce
(not during their breakup)
And the lyrics were composed by her ex-husband, but the music by the pianist Benny
@@eduardooscar309And, Björn declared it wasn't about their divorce
Do you seriously believe that Björn was so callous as to write lyrics like "tell me,does she kiss, like I used to kiss you",and THEN ask his soon to be ex-wife to sing them? Jeez 🙄
Having lost my first love, this song kills me.
In the 70's only teenage girls and gay men grasped the genius of ABBA.
Diesen Song schrieb Björn nachdem er sich von Agnetha getrennt hat. Eine Nacht hat er gebraucht und eine Flasche Whisky. Das hat er selbst gesagt.
❤❤❤
Her and her husband just divorced, and the band was still together, and she sang the song that he wrote
So so sad and deep.
Divorce is pretty easy when you compare that to the death of a loved one.
I like your take on the song. But I think in the video you also see how she feels left out of her former friend group. That's the other thing about relationships - your friends take sides and you lose friends that you were close to. It's sad and deeply impactful on two levels - you lose your best friend and you also lose a circle of friends sometimes. Love what you both are doing - you both seem very sweet!
this was written as they were breaking up/ after
i'm new to your channel so i don't know if you investigate, what's your tghouts on king gizzard & the lizard wizard?

Please do the reactions solo for now on. Tasha is much more serious about the reactions !
The 4 non blonde video was the same 😕
I could see in Tasha eye’s and body language that she totally felt & understood this wonderful track about the reality of marriage, love and heartbreak ❤️

Run it past Tee a dozen times, maybe he'll get it then...Wouldn't count on it though...
Cette chanson a été faite alors qu elle divorcais avec l un des ces partenaires 😢
💯💯 wtf.. Bjorn on the left looking at her singing when this song is about their divorce, and agnetha and her 2 children losing him for another woman.
