"Fight or flight" is the new catch phrase for schmucks who evade and fight police.

He agrees to a plea agreement, including drivers license suspension for two years. And after that motion, the first thing they do is argue against the two-year suspension. Why the judge didn’t just throw out the plea agreement I don’t know. This person is an absolute disaster and does not belong driving a car. He got shot resisting arrest, and has had multiple vehicular fleeing arrests.

He was not shot resisting arrest. At no time did the officer identify himself or state that he was arresting Erik. The officer was fired and charged with attempted murder for heaven's sake.

He seemed so agravated by the suspension that I wonder if he rather go to jail than not drive 😂

Lawyer needs to shut up, not helping. She needs to find out what's going on with him.

I goggled Erik Cantu and this is what I discovered. Erik and I guess his girlfriend were in a MacDonalds parking lot eating in his car. A police officer thought he recognized the car from an earlier evading arrest chase. The officer walked up to the car opened the door and without identifying himself as an officer ordered Erik out of the car. Erik backed up to get away and the officer pulled his weapon and shot him several times. Erik who was 17 at the time, was severely wounded and spent weeks in the hospital. Followed by months of physical therapy. The officer was fired and charged with two counts of aggravated assault by a public servant and one count of attempted murder. It was no wonder that he was "triggered" when an officer in Universal City attempted to pull him over for going 50 in a 35 zone. The Walmart theft was a charger and an air freshener which his girlfriend put in her purse. I'm not sure how I feel about Judge Boyd quizzing him about what he's been doing with his life since he graduated. He's been recovering and trying to work. I believe his family is suing and I'm wondering if this isn't some kind of retribution for that. I usually think Judge Boyd is spot on in her rulings, but I'm not so sure about this one.

So why did defense lawyer, not bring up the police brutality / shooting / and sacking, that statement if proven true is a major factor in his fear why he did not pull over when chased by a black unmarked F100 truck
If his GF stole the items, all he had to say it was GF and she threw the stolen goods / bag to him

The attorney's plan was to ask for a PSI in which all of that would have been brought up. She shut him down on that. The attorney was walking a tightrope here. The judge was in a mood to begin with. She was angrier than usual with the talkers in court. She hates it when people want to plea in her court and then make excuses. The attorney did refer to his client being in a coma and to his receiving treatment for trauma (PTSD). The theft was brought up but was not part of these two charges he pled to. Personally I think the kid should have gone to trial, but that's not what this was.

If they are saying he can't control himself for medical reasons, and he is looking at 2-10 years in jail if he does it again, he should accept the 2 year suspension rather than risk jail time.

He is not dangerous. When he was 17 a police officer misidentified him and shot him several times. Erik was in the for seven weeks. Google his name Erik Cantu. And quit judging people so harshly. After all, people could be judging you harshly.

Rumor has it that the theft from Wal-Mart stems from him trying to steal a child booster seat for his car, for himself to use while driving.
