TexMan11 I see your question, but it doesn't let me respond to it. Not sure why. The Pro Stick Plus came from Amazon. There are links to all the items you need for this project at www.phasedock.com/aircraft-tracking
Hello, great video. I have my pie up and running! Quick question. How/where did you hook up the large monitor to the pie? Would love to have a standalone monitor like yours/ Please explain how you did it. Thanks!
Do you pick up any more planes than you would see just accessing Flightaware's website without your pi? I bet it is very neat to find out what you can receive on your own radio, but have you stuck with it in the long run?
This is a nice teaser, but it would have been much more useful if the guy who actually built this setup did a step by step explanation. I looked at the website and can't actually see details of the product, as in, are there special holes and special plugin components or interlocking capabilities? Why do I want to spend a chunk of money on something I could build on a cheap 2x6 chunk of wood. We need better lighting and a better resolution video of the product.
I just ordered the flightAware 1090 MHz base antenna off Amazon I will be hooking it to the same SD radio he has the blue one has the filter built in. They also sell ones with coax but I needed a custom length order LMR-400 custom made off eBay seller. I will probably build a 2nd one for the 980 mhz also.
I have one because an Enterprise account for Flightaware is $85 a month and I take care of a bunch of aircraft and want that functionality and you get the account for free when you do this
you don't need a 2nd filter as the blue usb has one build in to it
A tip : watch movies at Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Amos Royal yea, I have been using kaldrostream for months myself :)
@Amos Royal Yup, have been using KaldroStream for years myself =)
@Amos Royal Definitely, have been watching on kaldroStream for months myself :D
Blue one does not have filter, orange pro one does

This deployment is about 40 miles from the airport, so we can see aircraft that are further out.

what is that workbench called?
Hello Done Deal! It's a WorkBench from Phase Dock. Sean is using the 1007 size, but you can see them all at www.PhaseDock.com.
Thanks I'm going to check it out.
What the radius of the antenna.
The antenna can pick up aircraft up to 250 miles / 400 km away.
@@phasedock O_o wow

Will they pay off for this??
Can we earn from this??

No, you don't earn from this.
Would love to build one, but I'm not gonna spend 90 bucks a month for enterprise. Not one dime. But its a nice project.
They give you the free enterprise account for feeding your data. You don't pay a dime.
