Growing up in the early 1800s, P.T. Barnum displays a natural talent for publicity and promotion, selling lottery tickets by age 12. After trying his hands at various jobs, P.T. turns to show business to indulge his limitless imagination, rising from nothing to create the Barnum & Bailey circus. Featuring catchy musical numbers, exotic performers and daring acrobatic feats, Barnum's mesmerizing spectacle soon takes the world by storm to become the greatest show on Earth.

Keala Settle's performance of This is Me at the workshop for the movie is pretty much what got the studio to agree to do the movie. You can find a video of that performance on RUclips, I highly suggest watching it. The amount of emotion that sweeps through the room is amazing. It even brought Hugh to tears.

“This is Me” is the only song from this soundtrack that I have in my playlist because as a kid who has been through so many obstacles growing up, due to his insecurities and being far different from most boys, it speaks to me in many ways that I can relate. From then on, I vowed to always fight for those who are incapable of standing up to themselves when the opportunity appears itself.

Also, everyone needs to put some respect on Hugh's name ✨ He's a Broadway trainer performer with a Tony and yet everyone is shocked when he sings and can do more than act, but he was killing it in Australian Theatre long before he was cast as Wolverine. Fun fact, Hugh, at (6 ft 3 in) is a whole FOOT taller than Wolverine (5 ft 3 in) should be 😂
I love my Aussie legend, he's also a very nice man!

The song Zach and zendaya sing together "rewrite the stars" I walked down the aisle to instrumentality to my husband, a ftm, and perfect partner. It spoke so much to me cause we are not what people expect but we are perfect together. I would recommend looking up the instrumental version of cello and piano.

4:51 - That is so interesting how someone told you that you get migraines from holding tears back because... I can relate in a sense: First, some background: Before about the age of 30, I virtually never cried but also virtually never had the urge to, BUT THEN when I first saw Pixar's "Inside Out" for the first time (fairly late in life, as an adult)... one particular scene / line VERY STRONGLY triggered tears from me, BUT I held back any external tears, since I was watching with my roommates and did NOT want to let them see me cry (and yes, I know I'd make a terrible reactor, LOL!). But HERE'S one thing that was SUPER SURPRISING to me: Holding those particular tears back at that time was SOOOO PAINFUL (felt like it hurt my brain, even though I didn't label it as a migraine per se)... I IMMEDIATELY wished I could go back in time and decide to just let it out, lol!
That was actually what led me to PURSUE more tearjerker movies (I guess because it still felt like something "had to be let out"). But one frustration was that (again, probably because I never happened to cry often)... it took me 3 years to [accidentally] find another one... and that one was "Interstellar" by the way :P

Loved your reaction!!! I was not expecting to love this movie so much when I saw it for the first time, I had actually went to the movies to see Pitch Perfect 3 but there was no more seats available so I saw this instead cause I still wanted to see it. When I tell you that I was absolutely blown away, like I had never been literally ever before. This movie is Broadway in a movie in a way that i have just never seen before. It is perfection. I then went to see it 7 more times before it was available to buy/stream. It was unbelievable in theaters, just the grandness and crispness in the sounds was unbeatable, still amazing regular of course, but having seen it in theaters was just, mind-blowing lol. Still haven't seen Pitch Perfect 3 either. But this is my favorite movie(which is crazy cause I don't really have favorite movies/shows/songs etc., but I immediately knew this was THAT GIRL for me. Sorry for the rant, just very passionate about this piece of work. Loved your reaction and always love your rawness and vulnerability in your videos. It is always so refreshing and appreciated and should be encouraged more in men. not just online, but in life. So thank you and I pray you have an amazing day!

The reason people were upset is because he is the founder of the modern day circus. Because it had never been done before, it wasn’t established that the acts were fake, and they advertised it all as real. Now it’s common knowledge that it’s a performance and isn’t real, but before it was established no one knew.

Thanks for the wonderful reaction, JV! I always enjoy your reactions, and this is one of my favorite movies -- I especially think "Rewrite the Stars" is just stunning, and I love the way the choreography starts with her out of reach, then him -- and then they are finally able to meet in the middle. In real life, PT Barnum was not a very nice guy, but this movie is a wonderful fairy tale anyway.

A few things that you should, JV, is that this movie, while extraordinary and unique, have some flaws, mostly historical inaccuracies. For starters, he was quite the sleazy con-artist who exaggerated many things that he bestowed to the public, so much so that he even forged a few props of his own. As for the singer Jenny Lind, they never had anything between them in real life and the actress, Rebecca Ferguson, was actually lip-syncing. Despite all that, it is a feel-good movie that makes feel more alive through music and dancing. 👍

Rewrite the stars will always be my favorite song in this movie because my bio mother tried to instill white superiority ideas in me as a child….It failed but when I was old enough to understand what she was doing, and what kind of person she was, the topic of racism always made my blood boil!…Thinking of who my mother tried to make me be makes me both sad and angry. This song is tremendously beautiful and sadly a necessary tool we still need today to help sway other people to question their horrible ideas of people that look slightly different from themselves ❤
