All of them are absolutely amazing animals! American Pharoah, the ONLY horse to win the Triple Crown, plus the Breeder's Cup, Secretariat....who ran each 1/8 of a mile faster than the previous one, still gaining speed as he took the Belmont, Don't forget Zenyatta....a "Girl", who usually came from dead last, to beat the big Boys! Awesome horses!
Don't forget Secretariat still holds all three records for the Triple Crown events. No one will ever beat his Belmont record. He was in tremendous machine. Love Zenyatta. She always held back and never needed to race full out, until her only lose against Blame at her second Breeder's Cup.
Please as others have said AP winning Breeders Cup is lame every triple crown winner prior never ran in it because it did not exist. This probably was your first triple crown experience. AP three year old class was one of the weakest then throw in a bland group in the Breeders Cup especially since the female beast hall of famer Beholder was scratched her class and strength was overwhelmingly better than AP.
OMG the close-up of Seattle Slew's face and his eyes blinking just about knocked me out of my chair! *FANTASTIC* stuff! Thank you SO much! (He and Secretariat are my favorites.)
Im an Indian live in India never traveled to the Americas. I was born in 1976 and when I went to a hill station near Mumbai in 1988 my dad hired a horse for the day for each one of the family. My horse was names Secretariat. It was a good horse and the next day I insisted I want to go sight seeing on the same horse. When we returned home my father told me about the real secretariat and I havent been able to get him out of my mind ever since. The thing which struck me is most is that for the first time large numbers of non derby people went to the races, not to see the derby derby but just to see secretariat. Isnt that just awesome!! The 31 lengths was impossible for any other horse to beat. And thats how a very Indian little boy got introduced to the American derby.
Secretariat was named the 2nd best horse of the last century. Man o' War won. Terrible racing conditions, strings for starting gates, and weights that would be out-lawed now. He had a 28 foot stride, and that was when his next leg landed. He ran with 3 legs in the air. There's little footage of him, because it was 1919 at the time. Man o' War was last century's greatest race horse. I know we've had triple crown winners, but none beat his easy run. He didn't win triple crown only because he never raced in the Kentucky Derby. Instead, his off-spring, War Admiral did it for him
Great video - first time I have seen some of the races. Thanks. Most impressed by Affirmed who had to fight the great Alydar for every race. Also, Count Fleet really destroyed his opposition.
Awesome video. Now you just need to add number 13 Justify. And also you should make a video of top 10 greatest race horses of all time and don't forget to add Ruffian.
I felt sorry for Sham, because he too was a Great Racehorse, but he just could not beat Secretariat! Secretariat won the TRIPLE Crown by (31) Lengths, in 1973, and he was my FAVORITE Racehorse!!! I felt sorry for Alydar, because he too was a Great Racehorse, but he just could not beat Affirmed! Affirmed and Alydar raced against each other (10) times, and Affirmed won (7) times out of those races! Alydar, consistently, came in Second. Affirmed won the TRIPLE Crown in 1978!!! I, also, am a fan of Affirmed!!! So, Sham and Alydar could have won the Triple Crown, if only they were born in different years than Secretariat and Affirmed!!!! So, this is their race history, and it was exciting watching all of these Racehorses on Film. I was too young to remember these races, so I watch a lot of Documentaries on Racehorses!!!!!! Also, of note, Seattle Slew, who won the TRIPLE Crown, in 1977, was another Spectacular Racehorse!!!!
I've been meaning to explain my previous comment. I thought that was a still photo of Slew until he blinked his schmexy eyes and so pleasantly surprised me :)
Great video. I love horse racing and these are some of my favorite horses. Now all you need to add is Justify! If you do remake it, the "had" in the opening text should be a "have."
Yes that correct before the days of raceday medications lasix etc of the 70s and since then. has the breed improved since then? They certainly bleed more.
I was hoping for statistics like winning timed, lifetime earnings, progeny numbers and how many of them were successful on the track and in the breeding sheds, ect.
Terry Russel I understand what you mean, and I would’ve love to do that, but I was afraid nobody wanted to see a 30 minute video about every single one so I decided to show people how they won the crown. Although now, I think I’ll keep that in mind for a future video, thanks!
5:42 "Clear blue water, high tide came and brought you in And I could go on and on, on and on, and I will Skies grew darker, currents swept you out again And you were just gone and gone, gone and gone In silent screams, In wildest dreams I never dreamed of this..." Piano version of This Love, by Taylor Swift. Nice! I love how it starts playing at Secretariat. Is the first song Red? Whatever it is please tell me where you found it.
I’m glad you figured out one of the songs! I’m a huge fan of Taylor’s, and I absolutely love this piano version. The first song, is Let Her Go by Passenger. It’s also a piano version!
A thousand years from now, Secretariat's name will still adorn the tapestry of majestic performances.
In my mind, all time No.1 horse ever!!
@@perth0301 Man o' War will always beat him, as much as I love Secretariat

The breeders cup races did start being run until 1984 so that statement about AP is a bit misleading
Justify was retired right after Belmont so AP was the only one to run in the breeders cup races

Secretariat was number 1 with Sports illustrated and ESPN, any way you look at it the 2 of them are the 2 best
Great footage of some incredible horses, each and everyone of them was amazing!
Whirlaway has that long running stride like Secertariat and Justify.
Need to add number 13 Justify
Cba$$-yessss 💯
Yes
Secretariat 1973 that was a very long time ago I weren't even born then but he was an exceptional horse
autumn field stables schleich oh he was more than exceptional he was spectacular
To put it simply…Secretariat is the best!
Secretairait is truly the best horse on the planet
Secretariat will always be the best rip Big Red

And Zenyatta!
And California's Sea Biscuit who defeated TCW War Admiral in a match raise. One of the greatest race horses of all time
You posted this a year and 3 days before Justify’s winning
Justify!!! My favorite number is the 13th!!! Awesomeness
Secretariat is a amazing horse with a huge heart
I love all of the horses I think it’s so awesome and they are a legend to win
I've always felt sorry for Sham and Alydar.
Denys A, me too! 😣
Tracy Davis why? I mean I don’t know their history but what happened?

shame about Sham but someone had to run second that year
Man i love Sham and alydar.toi bad ppl making sham as a bad guy in secretariat film.

My horse is secretariat.... years to come and no one will beat his win by distance at the belmont
31 that was awesome
31 legend horse

Nobody talks about how far Count Fleet was ahead in the Belmont...
Yeah, he won the belmont stakes by 25 lengths
Yes that correct before the days of raceday medications lasix etc of the 70s and since then. has the breed improved since then? They certainly bleed more.
Gallant Fox was a magnificent beautiful animal!
I enjoyed watching all of the Triple Crown Winners!!! Now, you need to add "Justify" to this list, please!!!!
American pharoah and secretariat legends
