    It's so unprofessional for them to spit in the face of small companies. Come on, you're better than this...

    • @devlinproctor6417

      Yeah, similar news sites bashed Tesla and Space X, one of those companies could be even bigger than dji I don't know why they are so snobby about it. Competition = Lower prices and better features for consumers. Competition is good.

      Zhang it's pathetic to do it especially at CES where they are showing products to get investors/feedback to improve them.

    • @PTNLemay
      @PTNLemay 7 лет назад +27

      They're not wrong though... it's professional to give an unbiased factual assessment of the situation. You can't give pity-positive reviews to a small company just because they're being the underdog. I do agree though that the title could have been put more... tactfully.

      Yann Vidal If it's bad it's bad, nothing changes that fact. If it's not pointed out here, it'll be pointed out elsewhere and at worst, through the expense of the consumer. It's meant to be informative and while it does suck, it's how the market works.

      because DJI in the drone industry since 2006 doing flight controller system, so they have real core technology about drone
      and DJI is first mover in consumer drone in 2012/2013 by release all in one package DJI Phantom and it's a hit
      since then DJI just keep innovating, now they have small and portability DJI Mavic, prosumer DJI Phantom, professional DJI Inspire, industrial use Matrice 600

  • @ClayMann
    @ClayMann 7 лет назад +5

    I'd argue you need companies like these coming out with weird variations that may or may not even work. It only takes one to hit on a new way of using drones and that company becomes the next DJI or probably gets bought out by them but the end result is we get innovation in drones, not just endless slight improvements on the same set of successful models.
    If I wasn't so lazy I'd provide examples that show its exactly this kind of frenzy around a new product line that stimulates the best kind of innovation that you just would never get from a large established company. Small hungry companies made up of a few smart people. In the movie Primer just such a small company of smart people invented a time machine by accident. But that wasn't real, so not such a great example but damn I do love that movie. You know it only had a budget of $5000?

  • @chrischeaptech5053
    @chrischeaptech5053 7 лет назад +6

    I think the 20 something dollar cheap drones on amazon or ebay are absolutely worth the money, even if you buy them as a toy. As for film making, you likely to have a bigger budget.

    I couldn't disagree with you more about PowerVision's PowerRay. It is great addition to the Drone industry. Yes it doesn't change the fishing game all to much, but think of the possibilities to see the sea in a whole new perspective. Or for search and rescue underwater. If you were to install an IR or thermal camera. They also have some unique designs and engineering on their other products as well that other companies do not have. They will be around for many years to come. Mark my words.

    "Metaphor for where the industry is headed" What does that even mean? You are absolutely clueless on how drones work or the potential they have to be useful industrial tools in a plethora of fields. Ben, you are nobody to disperse negativity at the expense of small start-up companies. Just because a drone is in the category of a toy instead of "new technology" doesn't make it bad. Different drones are made for different people in different markets. Go bring your hate somewhere else.

    90% of the market is in toy-grade sales.
    Sure, DJI has a corner on expensive aerial cinematography drones, but that doesn't really mean anything.
    Is a Civic the worst car because it can't contend with a F1 race car? No, it's not intended to compete with it, and it's far from a failure as a car.
    You showed Skyviper. A successful toy drone company, that is on the shelves at every Walmart.
    You could say that DJI is a failure because none of their products do the barrel rolls or have manual mode that is available on most Skyviper products. Every fpv racer out there has agility that would leave an Inspire a pile of wrecked garbage.
    Apples and oranges people.

    the air cleaner is garbage, can't believe they even spent money to be there, that should have been an infomercial at 2am.

    On one hand, we should be skeptical toward new companies that make product claims and take money. But on the other hand, this all came across very elitist and unprofessional. You go around to these booths and talk behind their backs after they offer to show you their products. You guys suck. I think the story telling is very shallow and incomplete, too. If you're going to be jerks, at least make your case a little better.
