Fantastic preset man never thought i’d see my comment used on one of your videos!
I really like the idea of having sound design have an easier entry point. For me personally it’s fun to learn about but it seems like such a complicated subject to actually dig into in practice so thanks for making these videos a bit more digestible!

It’s my pleasure bro thank you for leaving that original comment! I had been wanting to make a tutorial on this lead preset for awhile now but it’s so simple that I was kind of put off from making a full tutorial on it, but I thought it would actually work in my favor to show others that while sound design may seem super complicated you can make some really cool sounds very simply!

I’m wondering, why use a multi-band compressor and not just a regular compressor? Does multiband compression effect the sound tonally, or is it because you only want to compress a certain frequency of the lead?

It’s more for the tonal change like you first mentioned bro, the multi band compressor in Vital is modeled after OTT which really has a very aggressive sound when cranked which is what I was looking for. It’s very subtle especially after filtering after but I thought it helped give the sound a bit more “shine” if that makes sense :-)

Im wondering why you boosted the highs if you cut off the highs with the filter at the end?

Good question bro! It was actually something I added in at the very end while experimenting with the sound to try and get some more “shine” and excitement out of it and I happened to prefer the subtle change when placed before the filter compared to after! Similar idea with the OTT too, was just trying to get a little more excitement out of the sound and thought it did the trick (I also wanted the filter at the very end of everything to tame down the sound a bit since it was very piercing and harsh after the OTT)

The one that I made the sound in bro! It is called “vital” and it’s absolutely free!

It's wild to me that there were people legit puzzled by the sound of a mono square wave with glide and some spatial effects

That’s understandable bro it is a super simple sound to make but some people just don’t know as much about sound design as others
