    I agree 100000000000% that curly hair does NOT act like straight hair!!!! Curly hair does not need frequent trims like straight or wavy hair. Our hair is not like theirs and people need to start accepting that.

      @@sagittariusbeauty I think it depends how you wear your hair tbh. I used to do 2x a year but then increased it to like 3ish times last year because I felt like 2x wasn't enough. And I think that's because during the warmer months I may wear it out more/the sun & heat exposure just cause more wear to my ends. doing so, they cut less and my hair did well.

      I promise you a lot of things in this life ( Hair & in general ) are more obvi / simple than they seem but when you are too close to a picture you can't see the full image smh. Took me a min. to realize if my hair is not naturally straight, I shouldn't expect it to do what straight hair does. But curly hair isn't the standard ...
      Thank you, that tip came from a place of "less is more" haha 😌

    I wear wigs FAITHFULLY! I swear they’re the most slept on & slandered protective style. 😭I cut my natural hair a little past my shoulders in 2020 & now in 2023 it’s to my waist 😭 i only trim my hair once per year & between that i just slightly dust the ends. I honestly though i’d have hella split ends cause i don’t get trims as often as people say you should, but my hair is actually healthy asf 😭 wigs are perfect cause there’s no tension, thread or anything interfering with your real hair. the wig just sits on top of your braids

Now that I can see me doing long term 😎

    One thing that helped me with faux locs is using yarn to create a barrier. You can either braid/twist it in with with your hair, crochet at the base and loosely wrap, or crochet at the base and hold the yarn and your hair together when installing the fake hair. Works if you have loose or loc’d hair.

We have coils - they group together as a family of strands, they’re not meant to be separated individually. But back to the story, she would comb with…(pause for dramatic effect) a fine tooth comb!! A FINE TOOTH COMB. On her DRY HAIR. I wanted to cry. I tried to explain, but she was insistent it was necessary for her hair type. It was truly sad. Some people have said in the past that RUclipsrs for natural hair is oversaturated, but clearly it’s not enough! Thank you for sharing your journey and helping individuals like those out 🥰

My hair is about 1.5 inches past my collarbone and this is the longest it ever has been. I don't comb my hair. 100% finger detangling. The comb is only used for parting my hair 😂 Never saw the point with how coiled my hair is. I also deep condition every time I wash my hair. I haven't trimmed my hair in over a year. So I comb my hair like once a week-ish. If I had somewhere to go I would probably wear it out from time to time but I don't go out much LOL. I trim my hair and do protein treatments around every 4 to 5 months or whenever it's necessary. I don't deep condition because it takes long enough to do my hair as it is and that's it. New subbie. And some genetic have people with thicker hair for example so their hair doesn’t break as much n their hair grows long.. but yeah don’t just blame it on genetics. Everyone can grow some kind of hair.
    I stated taking hair skin n nail gummies. I do one in Am other in pm with food n drink water. N the gummies isn’t crazy high in biotin so that’s how I combat the breakouts… or just take one a day
    Edit: I’m back. Again re watching lol. Make sure I’m still doing the right
    Stuff. did you talk about scalp massages that’s good. Or inversion method once a week/ yoga/ workout. Just because those things are supposed To circulate blood n get blood to the scalp
    N I have to blow dry my hair to keep it from tangling back. I tried the braid out to stretch n my hair was so tangle after just washing (but dry) I was raking away clumps of hair.

    You’re not allergic to biotin love. We naturally produce it in our bodies. It works so well that it detoxifies our bodies and when you detox, it has to come out somewhere. If you’re not drinking enough water to detox through urine or eating enough fruit to detox through feces then it will come out through your skin. It’s just your body’s way of getting rid of what isn’t supposed to be there, which is a good thing. I’m a nurse so I understand these types of things on a scientific level.

    • @amytarie.
      @amytarie.  Год назад +5

      Curly hair does come with a lot of shrinkage and it depends on your texture/type. Usually the tighter the curl the higher the shrinkage.
      Also "Long" hair is just perspective. It may not have looked long to you if you don't view hair to your butt as long. Maybe long hair to you and on you looks like hair down to your knees, haha only you can decide that.
      The "bigness" of your hair is volume. You can watch vids on how to make your loser 3a/b curls have more volume. If you wear your curly hair in a wash n go often try not to use gel, as it weighs the hair down.
      Hope that helps :)

    I couldn't go for a whole month last time I did twist, I washed too often because I get scalp build up and I need to clarify it, the washing kinda loosened the twists a bit from the top and it tangled with it each other it felt like I got a whole mat on my head which feels hot in summer and also itchy so I ended up taking it out tho my issue wasn't really being bored of it

    • @amytarie.
      @amytarie.  10 месяцев назад +1

      Maybe you need to figure out the root of the scalp build up first ? Do you live a very active lifestyle and have a gym / workout routine or live somewhere humid where you're outside often?
      If you don't wash it as often with little to no build up so it can last longer, then when you do wash it, you should be able to just retwist a few that are loose ( as they will get after time passes ) and be able to sustain them longer.
      Or ... you can simply try another protec. style that you feel suits you better all together :) Twists are just what I've found for the reasons stated in the vid. work best for me.

      @@amytarie. I liked twists more in terms of looks ngl and the first time I did then i saw noticable growths, as for my lifestyle, I do workout and I do live in a coastal city and I go out often, ngl I can't stop doing any of that but I think it's just that I did them too loose to begin with and I'll try again some other time

      @@amalakram8755 Okay yeah an active lifestyle will have yo scalp ITCHIN' 😭 I used to be a bit more active than I am now & I remember those days lol Yeah don't stop your lifestyle. Re try the twists tighter, and look up vids on black girls and dry shampoo 🤔 idk if it works for us but see if it can help with build-up in between washing. If not tho , just wash however often you need knowing that you'll need to retwist some sections more often here and there.

    Love the video, thanks! How do you keep your twists in for so long. I've tried several times and after a few hours they come loose and I have to re-twist. I even put leave-in conditioner and a grease seal in, but they keep coming loose. 🤒🥵😤
