Great review as always vas!! I like the version of the emta that Jang from ultimate rc reviewed. It was the lay down shock version if I remember correctly. Thunder Tiger is also coming out with a couple impressive new trucks that have definitely caught my attention.
Hi Vas, thanks for the review. I have waited for this a long time :D I was really curious to hear your final toughts on this truck. In many aspects I have the same feeling as you but there are some things that I see different. To me this truck has been a good buy and I will surely think to buy the next generetion that will soon come in the shop (the e-mta kaiser). The tires and shocks are really bad and the chassis is really a pain to work on but the stock servo (that died on me after like 60-70 packs) was not that bad; it was more than capable of steering left to right the tires standing still and to keep the tires in the imparted direction when running. But it died after just some weeks of use and that was not good :D. The shock tower I think it's a problem only if one do great jump with the truck. I do jump quite often but my jump are max 30-40 cm high and I never broke one. The shocks instead are really bad; not, or not only, for the problems you explain (that like the rear shock tower I think are a problem only if you do great jumps) but because they leaks A LOT. I'm not a fan of the battery tray but having bought batteries specifically for the e-mta g2 I had been fine without doing any cut-out on the chassis. I really liked the chassis and the drivetrain; yes it's a pain to work on, really a bad time :D, but it's a tank...I could run this truck on any terrain and in any condition without worring of anything (on the Kraton, in the wrong terrain to run it, I have to fear every type of stone getting stuck in the wrong place and ruin everything). I think this truck has a soul, maybe it's just me but I see this truck being a lot of fun to drive (much more than the Kraton that even if it's a great monster truggy I see it like a bit lifeless/flat). Maybe the e-mta g2 to me it's like the ofna hyper mte for you: a truck with some problems but that has a strange appeal for it's unique character and could be much rewarding when all it's flaws are resolved. Anyway at this time with the Kaiser soon to be released, I would never buy an e-mta g2 but would wait for the Kaiser to arrive in the shop. If the upgrades that thunder tiger have done are gonna be right this will be a wonderful monster truck.
Carlo Russo Yes, you are very right and your opinion is very valid. Perhaps I was a bit too harsh on the servo or maybe I just had a bad one, but either way, it did not perform as well as some servos in other monster trucks. You are correct about the drivetrain and the chassis is very strong, it's just a shame that other things like the shocks, shock towers and body don't have the same durability. As I said, there is an appeal about this truck that I like and I can't put my finger on it, but maybe it's like you said; it's the little imperfections that give it character and make it great.
Very thorough review as always! Not a big fan of this truck. Plastic bodied shocks from the Rival and street tires? How many broken shock towers? And on and on....Lol. Your so great at what you do Vas that I enjoy watching anything you do buddy!
Thank you very much, Chris. The truck sure does have its flaws, but I'm hoping future designs address these as I feel there is potential here. It has a solid drivetrain, the chassis is solid despite it being all plastic and the motor & ESC combo are lethal. It's just a shame some of the other things let it down.
Vas, I love how you have the play list setup....I have a opportunity to buy one of these trucks but before I decide I thought I would look back to see if you did a review on it....I decided not to buy it even though I could get it cheap....I don't want to mess with everything....I know I will regret not buying it but I have too many projects and I don't need any more Rc sitting around to be worked on...lol
Hi vas, I'm wondering why you chose to the the e-MTA G2 over the original e-MTA. I mean it has the better tires and those lay-down shocks, also different shock towers and is not extremely under geared. Also in my opinion a better looking body. But I do agree with the fact that it is a nightmare to work on and the servo is useless. Thanks.
I'm always on the lookout for new products and this was TT's latest offering at the time I got it. I've heard a lot of people say how happy they were with the eMTA, so I figured I'd try the new one. It certainly didn't live up to expectations and although I have had a good time driving it, it's let me down several times with broken rear shock towers, popping shock caps and several other cons as mentioned in the video. I got it, I tested it and these were the issues I found. At least now you can decide if this is for you or not. Cheers
Thanks Vas for the reply. But no, I don't see myself buying another e-MTA. I just sold mine a few days ago, it was a pain to work on and was very lazy in the steering department. Replaced it with a HB d8t Tessman truggy, hopefully that will be a better basher. Thanks again.
I was wondering that too. The original emta in my opinion seems to be a better truck. Better shock setup, better out of the of tires. I'll bet all the other gripes are consistent throughout the line however.
Great review found it very useful. I got this truck and i am running two BOLT high voltage 3s and wakes the car up. Using your review as reference i got aluminum shock caps on the stock shocks. regarding the shock tower, you should try taking it to a cnc work shop and making a metal one. Thats what i am going to do if mine breaks.
Hey +Aussie RC Playground , great video. I bought this truck after watching your first few videos of it. I'm having trouble finding spur gears which are smaller than 51T for this truck. Do you know of any that will fit? I have a Leopard 4082 1600kv fitted with a 25T pinion and I need a smaller spur to go faster. + Mathew Pisani did you try out the rpm arms and axle carriers? Do they fit?
do not like the layout of the chassis also.....it makes it difficult to maintain and repair, otherwise i think its a good monster truck kit, good job on the suspensions mate, nice review!!!
I've seen a lot of your videos love them all :) I'm looking for a good truck you have any recommendations? I thought about Arrma kraton but it's not exactly a truck . I'm looking for something that looks like the emta or the rival ... but without all the problems with them .. something more reliable Thenks
hey buddy do you know how long those socks are I was wanting to convert my EMTA to the EMTA g2 and I have never purchased socks before so I'm out of my league a little bit
Great reviews keep up the good work i have emta g2 love bashing it however i keep breaking rear axle carriers 1st broke 5 mins out of the box do u know if rival or monster gt rpm a arms and axle carriers fit on this truck sick of changing them thanks
Mathew Pisani Yes, they should fit just fine. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the rear shock tower, that was the one thing that I just got sick of. Didn't break any axle carriers though. Hope that helps and thanks for watching. :)
Thanks for the reply ill have to try and find sum not much rpm in oz i have landed flat on its back a few times shock towers never broke yet they are the reinforced type
so, if you're not all happy with this model, is there a different truck in this price area, you would rather recommend? (mayber even the e-MTA? ) cheers
Jonny Cox Trust me... it looks good (and so does the price) but when you get it, the quality is very bad. You can get the truck off nitrorcx and most of their products don't last.
hey buddy I love your review it was a great one I have the E MTA and I don't like the lay down shocks it looks like I could put the same shocks you have on mind it looks like the same setup I'm not real sure I'm going to have to investigate I would love to have the same setup you have if possible it looks like it will work I hope so the lie down shocks are weak very weak thanks again brother for such a great review
Great review video... I love the concept of this truck. Bad tyres Ruin it. Thank you Vas for the Battery Tray Mod! ✌✌✌
Great review as always vas!! I like the version of the emta that Jang from ultimate rc reviewed. It was the lay down shock version if I remember correctly. Thunder Tiger is also coming out with a couple impressive new trucks that have definitely caught my attention.
Thanks Matt. I'm hoping to get one of the new vehicles from Thunder Tiger in the future, but I think I'm done with this platform.
Yeah. I heard from a lot of people the older emta is a better rc. It does look like a nightmare to work on though.
Very nice! The truck did have some problems but after you fixed it up it seemed to run well! Great review as always :D
Wow, three shock towers?
Matt Peckham I'm up to 4 now. Broke another one this last weekend. Nearly every time I drive this thing, I break a shock tower. It's very annoying...
Aussie RC Playground I can imagine it is

Wise decision. :)
Bit off topic but any ideas for longer springs in the rear on the talion?

any aluminum parts besides the shocks?
do not like the layout of the chassis also.....it makes it difficult to maintain and repair, otherwise i think its a good monster truck kit, good job on the suspensions mate, nice review!!!

Can you review the Mad Gear RC Tucson 1/5 scale SCT? It's cheep and seems like a good truck but want to make sure.

Excelent review wish I could say the same for the truck.
Cheers Paul, appreciate it buddy. :)
great review !!
Thanks Jonny. :)
Its a nice looking truck but very plasticky i dot think i would get this one. Great Video :)
neat truck
Why don't you do an e revo or e maxx brushless review or speed run?
7:54 2 in the pink and one in the stink?
Hey Vas, www.dollarhobbyz.com sells the body shells relatively cheap, along with the rest of the spare parts ;)
Yes, they are cheap, but in U.S. dollars. Once you factor in the conversion rate and shipping, it basically works out the same. For me, anyway...
So many drawbacks, including Thunder Tiger as a company
hi aussie, see the thunder tiger fix all error you told see the picture in new emta kaiser
www.bigsquidrc.com/thunder-tiger-kaiser-emta-unboxing/
Awesome video!! i just subbed to you! can you please subscribe to my channel too thanks a lot keep it up the good work!
Never liked the look of this truck. That is a mater of taste. But what this costs, you can by sum thing better.
Martin Whitney I have to agree with you there. I think for the money, there are better options...
