Getting different answers for (978)^2 and (987)^2 by using this method
Did I made mistake or the method didn't applicable for those numbers?
This method is applicable for all numbers pls use the method shown exactly the way it is
Hi pls I tried to use this method to find the square of 978 I did it about three times but still could not get the answer I was getting from my calculator. Can u pls help me. Thank u.
In 2nd step the 1 of 112 gets carry over to 126 and it becomes 127 so 2nd step value is 12712....you know the rest method is same..

Ma'am thank you for your explanation. I have one doubt. If I want to find square of 978 in the second step total 6 digits are coming and 3 digits in 3rd step. In this case how should I add the numbers to get the correct answer?
For second step leave one digit from your right for third step leave two digit from your right

= is this the right calculation or am I doing it wrong?
Carry they extra digit of second step on first step.
Example: (978)^2
= 1
=814964
=12612
= 144
=956484
Remember: whenever they second step has more digits, carry it on first step. We have to skip unit place in second and third steps. I hope you got it. Enjoy your learning. 😊

First write squares of 7,8,9 in one line like 496481
Then ,in the 2nd line leave one place vacant on the right extreme. Just multiply 8,9 & 2 you will get 144. But write only 44 and carry the 1 to left calculation. Multiply 7,8 & 2 you will get 112 but you have to write 113 (since 1 is also arried )
Now, in the third line leave 2 place vacant on the right extreme. Just multiply 7,9 & 2. You will get 126, just write the same.
The three lines will look like this
496481
11344
126
Just add these three lines like this
From right to left👇
Write 1
8+4=12. 1 will be carried. Just write 2
(4+4+6)+1=15. 1 will be carried. Just write 5
(6+3+2)+1=12. 1 will be carried. Just write 2
(9+1+1)+1=12. 1 will be carried. Just write 2
(4+1)+1=6. Nothing to be carried. Just write 6
So, (789)²=622521

It is applicable, pls use the trick exactly the way it's shown but 999 ^2can also be done as (1000-1)^2
