That´s the Berlin Philharmonic (sic!) Hall, the city where I live ;-)
I love Nils Henning the danish Bass god! And Oscar... jeez!!!

Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (Danish bassist, born 1946, died 2005) was a musical genius. Only a handful of bassists have ever reached the level of technical virtuosity he had already at the age of 25, when he first performed with Oscar Peterson.

Oscar Peters and his band were the real deal. Virtuosity all around!

HELLO!!! The ever fascinating and outside of the box creativity of Oscar Peterson. The incredible bassist increases this mesmerizing performance even further. Thanks Wayne!

Rick Beato did a good video on the bassist Niels-Henning Pedersen. Insane trio.

Oscar is mind-blowing as usual in this piece and I completely agree with you regarding that bass solo vs. most bass solos. To state the obvious, the level of musicianship on display here is simply next level.

Just had time for a quick check on the channel, and I find Oscar Peterson and the trio. No time to listen now, After lunch I have a treat to look forward to!

    Back from errands and lunch, and the Oscar Peterson trio is always worth waiting for. An amazing piece, demonstrating all their great abilities. The entire Berlin concert from 1985 is available on RUclips;
    ruclips.net/video/8m41gQShXT0/видео.htmlsi=RBlkS1jb2QUsbKnP.
Joining Oscar Peterson are Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, bass, and Martin Drew, drums.
When listening to Oscar Peterson, the date the recording is made is important. He suffered a stroke in 1993. He had a long convalesce. It affected his left hand. Recordings made after the stroke exhibit a softer, less aggressive left hand. He lost nothing from his wonderfully inventive mind. Everything I have read and watched has said he was a wonderful human being, in addition to being a phenomenal musician..

That is a Jaco-like solo, he was tearing it up, and on upright bass no less!

Oh man! That blew my socks off! That bass player was phenomenal, and he’s on a four stringed-bass (I’ve heard that some jazz bass players prefer a five-stringed bass for the B string that facilitates high notes.).

Yes! Yes! Yes!😃🤩🥳 This could have been one of my own requests!😃👍🏼😄 I just love this one (and The Oscar Peterson Trio all in all)🔥🔥🔥💫🌟✨✨✨🥰. And yes - as you found out at the end, the phenomenal bass player here was our legendary Danish Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen …. uh, he’s missed!
I’m SO happy that you enjoyed this one so much - incl. his double bass solo, too!!😃🤩😅😉🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much for this one👌🏼🌟🌟🌟🫶🏼🤗.

    Ah yes!! Biblically good!!
And that bass player is the legendary Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (or NHØP) from Denmark. Truly one of the all time greatest.
P.S also, love Oscars comping. It compliments the bass solo so well!
Also kudos to the drummer. 👌👌👌

the bass solo was awesome, and so was the look on your face.
my dad, a professional double bass player, had all of Oscars albums and i became a fan 60 years ago.
a great representation of American genius if you ask me.

If you don't know Niels Henning Orsted Pederson (NHOP) is you should check him out with Joe Pass on Guitar. Both played extensively with Oscar Peterson and all three are world class. Some of the best to ever play their respective instruments.

NHØP was born in Denmark and one of the greatest bass players with a technique you wouldn't believe. Go to Wikipedia and find out more facts of this incredible musician!

I always love your reactions, and I am also a huge Peterson fan. Just wanted to give you a little something to enjoy.. check out this version of cake walk.. Marion Petrescu Quartet with Andreas Öberg - Cakewalk.... This Piano Player is also insanely fast and clean and can play any style.. you dont have to react to him, just thought you might enjoy.. He may be the closest thing to Peterson you'll ever hear.

For God's sake!!!! The bassist's hands look like two spiders running over the strings. What extraordinary artists!
