I would venture to say that transformer will output 8VAC 10Va / 16VAC 10Va / 24VAC 20Va from the three taps. If you are planning on retaining the original doorbell (either digital or mechanical) I can assure you it's max output of 24 volts/ 20 watts will not be sufficient to fully power the bell. What will likely happen is the bell will make an attempt to chime. You really need either a 16VAC/30Va or a 24VAC / 40Va transformer to make everything play nicely together, depending on the voltage requirements of the doorbell chime itself. Hope this helps.
Hello, just wanted to say thank you for your informative video as I used it to help me change out my old doorbell transformer to a newer one, so thank you again. Hope you’re doing well and your family. Respectfully, Tim
This might be a dumb question but since he wired the transformer to the light fixture would that light always have to be switched on or would it still work if the light is not turned on?
So if you have to upgrade to a higher voltage for your doorbell camera to work, would that mean your doorbell chime is using a higher voltage than it was designed for? Should we be replacing the chime at the same time?
If you upgrade your transformer to 24V from a 15 volt transformer would that increase possibly damage your chime and or light in the door bell switch making the light run hot and damage the plastic covering the light bulb due the increase in volts? Please advise.
What if you want to eliminate the old doorbell chime but don’t want to utilize the plug-in method? I want to use the ring chime pro but would rather get rid of the old chime box on the foyer wall!
I don’t have a switch for the door bell listed on my breaker box and I can’t find my transformer. I have a lot of low voltage devices for the home alarms but I can’t find even their transformers. Maybe it’s in where there’s data cables, I don’t see one though
Never put two wires under one screw. Your key less fixture had double connections, so you just had to put tx under separate screws. In your octagon box has a 10/32 pre tapped hole for a designated green ground screw. You should not use a mounting screw n hole. Could possible come loose if hit. This might seem pretty picky, but that is the code. That code helps the homeowner with insurance claims if their was to be a fire. They could use it against you, n deny the claim do to faulty wiring. And with that type of tx you don't really need to unscrew that locking screw so it comes out completely, just enough to clear the KO /Knock out. Are you in Canada? Please take no offense. Just some info.

Yeah, 100%. We can tell 😂
If my transformer has three connecters which connecters do I connect to my doorbell and chime

There is constant power going through and the switch power goes to the light.
@@TravelFun69 thank you very much I just wanted to be sure
The man knows his stuff
Was your transformer bussing after you turned the power back on?
You existing door bell wire can handle 24V/40W carrying max 1.67A ?

Hi Jeff, mine was attached to my breaker box. thanks
I have tow doorbelss, garagfe and front door. Would ther be a separate transfromer for each

I replaced mine and never ever had any issues.

Jeff - Big ups!!
I found 2 transformers, 1 near the furnace and one next to my power breaker... wondering which one is for the doorbell??
Follow the wires to see which goes to the doorbell. Or you could temporarily disconnect one and then test the doorbell…
Its a great content'enjoy your channel bro..

If your last name is Lepard, wouldn't you spell ie "LePard:? Or is it "Jeff Leopard" *wink wink*? Either way, it's a damned cool name! lol
