She even danced before having this number. At the start you'd notice she's gasping for air but she still managed to sing it beautifully. She started in the industry mimicking celine dion, so it's her comfort zone.
when it comes to power ballads - her timbre is really similar to that of Celine's because she grew up studying Celine's voice and technique - she tries so hard to change her sound now when into power ballads but it is still inevitable that some Celine tones will come out -- that's the most comfortable placement for her voice when doing numbers like this. All good though :)

About 17 years ago, Sarah won a prestigious singing contest singing To Love You More by Celine. She became really famous and successful because of that song. And in many interviews, she has cited Celine as her biggest idol and influence in singing.

Celine is her music influence so i think that's why? She did not have a proper training when she was a child but her father wants her to sound like the artist. She admitted that it became her habit because he trained her to sound who ever artist she's covering. Anyway thanks hope to see more from her.

The best recommendations I can give is her renditions of “Lay Me Down” in Canada concert or “Anak” in Los Angeles concert, “Shake It Off” in ASAP and “Narito Ako” in Unified Concert.
Yes, SG pretty much can imitate the sound of the artists she covers to. But I tell you, Coach, she can easily change the color of her voice. Even in her original songs like “Sweetest Mistake”, if you just listen to it w/out knowing the artist, you would not believe it’s her.
Now, if you want to listen to her original songs which she sounds herself, try listening to “Isa Pang Araw” from This15Me concert in Baguio, “Minamahal” from FromTheTop concert and “Ibulong Sa Hangin”’ from FromTheTop concert. Hi. Thanks for this great reaction. I've been a follower of Sarah Geronimo ever since she started as a popstar way back in 2004. And so I understand your point that she always has the tendency to sound like international divas, especially Celine Dion and Beyonce every time she performs. I remembered one time during one of her concerts, she sang the same song and apologized to the audience afterwards since she really can't get rid of her innate Celine tone in her voice. The reason for that is the way she was trained during her childhood when her father and voice trainer made her listen to the songs of pop divas and that she "should" sound exactly like that. This is also why when she first started, people of our country calls her the Celine Dion of the Philippines because she just really sounds like her when she sings.
Fortunately, she now found her real sound. In my opinion, however, her own voice can be appreciated only in her low to mid-range songs. Because in songs which demand belting, it's inevitable to associate her technique to that of Celine (mask belting), Christina (riffs and runs) and Beyonce (growling+rifs and runs).

I am one of the biggest fans of Sarah G.
She is musically genius.
She studied different genres of music abroad & still studying.
The reason why she can UNINTENTIONALLY sound like other singers is because she already knows a lot of musical techniques & she uses these in every performances shes doing.
She can nail different genres of music from CLASSICAL to PSYCHEDELIC ROCK. ❤️
A vocal coach which has no big music experience up stage like Sarah. They should know that a performer like Sarah doesn’t need to be perfect in technicalities when performing live she just need to seize the moment.
Her winning piece was a Celine Dion song and yes she was dubbed as the Celine Dion of the Philippines when was just starting. She also just had a sing and dance prod right before doing this. You can notice her breathing at the beginning of this performance.

Sarah’s always has a powerful belt which she tends to hide sometimes maybe because she’s tired, she’s shy or confused, doesn’t wasnt to overpower other singers or, doesn’t want to be compared by the original singers she’s covering. Ofcourse that’s just my own observation on watching her videos. In one of her concerts, she tried to sing a Celine Dion song with Celine’s style which is powerful, Mariah’s which is melismatic but she jokingly said finding her sound or own voice (Sarah’s own sound) is a mixture of her voice with still a little bit of Celine because she grew up singing Celine songs as her training. I’ve heard a rumor that her vocal upbringing is by singing along to singers in a song with headphones on that’s she has that mimicry voice.

Try reacting to her own songs like "Ikot-Ikot Lang" and "How Could You Say You Love Me". I understand your observation about Sarah's sound but I think that's her way of showing her respect to the artists that she covers. She, absolutely, has her own sound but she intentionally adds the original artists' style of singing at some point in her covers.

If it's Celine Dion song, or Beyonce's - Queen SG can give justice to it. Sarah is a vocal chameleon. She has her own sound but she changes her vocal colour easily depending on the genre/mood/theme of the song. It is a skill. She is truly a multi-faceted threat. Total performing, she murders it. She can go soulful. She can slay rock and be much expressive. She can angelically sing on her soft tones in acoustic songs. She can be jazzy. She can be POPish. She can be theatrical. She can sing reggae. She can scat or flaunt her runs&riffs. She does a lot of things. She is THE Sarah Geronimo.

Sarah G sounds different in some of her performance of this song. It's just really up to her what kind of voice would she use. I mean damn! Those voices of her were all incredible! ♥️♥️♥️
Growing up her training was only using karaoke and listening to an orig tracks. She dont have professional training since they cant afford it back then, only her father trained her. She just once shared, that her training under her father was note by note with the orig tracks they covering, "if she misses note/runs/tone/etc. then its NOT GOOD" (this is how she study a song up to now, very sharp up to that little details of the song) thats why in everything she covered you can still hear the orig artist from her, even how the artist pronounce the lyrics.

Celine Dion was her great influence. She was trained to sing using casette tapes (not minus one), hence, she’s very particular with the voice and the way the original singers sing their songs. She’s aware that she she sounds Celine Dion especially during her younger days but she’s been singing using her own style now and making sure she shouldn’t have to sound a lot like the original artist all through out the song. I think that’s one of the skills a great singer has, the capability to mimic the sound of the original singer be consciously or unconsciously. :)

Sarah g is not anymore a belter but back then, she was a beast. Now, we appreciate more of her reinventing herself. And as a singer, its not anymore about belting, taking the high notes, gone are those days when range is the only golden standard for singing. But at present, its about conveying a total performance for the audience. I am not a big fan of her but she got my respect. She doesnt have to prove to anyone because for 15 years, she has done that to us Filipinos. Thats why, even there are new great singers coming along in the industry, no one can somehow be at par with the level that she has reached. She is not just only singing - shes dancing, acting, storytellimg and performing. She does thatn in one prod. She does that because, she is Sarah. Love for all.

The reason I don't feel bad about your comments is that I feel like you are a very credible reactor and it seems to me like you know a lot about music. Sarah on her younger years was dubbed as the Celine Dion of the Philippines because she sounded a lot like her. She was a champion in a singing competition through Celine Dion's "To Love You More". She was a vocal chameleon because if you ask her to sing Beyonce, she can definitely pull it off (watch her Freedom cover or Best Thing I Never Had), same goes with Lady Gaga and a lot more. I feel like you also need to see her doing pop songs more than just belting.
