Churches do not need to issue a statement on galamsey. The Ghanaian church has involved itself in civil and political matters unnecessarily that it has become a norm. If pastors and preachers were teaching well, I mean expositing the Bible guided by exegesis and hermeneutics, we would be better off today. How many Ghanaian Christians walk with the consciousness that God is working his will in this world through their hands, mind, heart and actions. If we believe God created this world and has put us in charge to keep it, why will we harm it. Greed, love for money, injustice, corruption etc are all things the Bible talks about prominently, yet we hardly even preach from the Old Testament where the justice and righteousness as well as the wrath of God on evil is fully expressed. We are a nation of believers in God, but our actions tell a very different story. Let civil and political government do their work, and let the church focus on its mandate. It has become too distracted. Unless hearts are changed by the gospel and the fear of God causes leaders to act with the consciousness of being judged we will wallow in this cycle. Before you say the Western world is not religious but law abiding, I’ll remind you their foundation was heavily christian. Christian laws has shaped it so much even in their departure from Christianity they are held by these laws even if they have been given new names. If we invoke God in almost all we do, we must act as if we truly believe he exists.
