There are no words in any language that can describe the beauty of this performance. This was just transcendent. This was not a Wall of Sound, this was an Avalanche or a Tsunami.
The silence at the beginning has freaked out at least 50% of the reactors I've seen watch this video, LOL! It spooked me out the same way the first time I watched it too. Not taking anything away from any of the others in the group, but this is a Matt and Kirstie show for me - Matt's soulful and emotional solo, and Kirstie's finishing off the song with those highs - it's a marvelous arrangement and performance!
This is a masterpiece. I loved your reaction. All 5 shined in their own way. Scott and Matt starting at the beginning and then their harmonies. Kevin all the way. And Mitch and Kirstie were fantastic throughout and at the end oh my goodness.! That last “divine” by Kirstie was otherworldly. I fell in love with Pentatonix from the very beginning and I firmly believe that as a group they have always utilized all the members. They became Pentatonix because of Scott but they have gotten where they are because they all participate and contribute. You know how we say they don’t do covers but rather they do upgrades. Well, with this song they upgraded their own upgrade. They first did O Holy Night in 2012 just one year after winning the Sing Off.
Fantastic reaction! I love that they did a new arrangement for this song, their original take on it is lovely, but this is a whole other animal. I keep having to raise the bar on what I think perfect sounds like.

I have listened to this song many times now, and I get goosebumps every single time when Kirstie comes in with that high belt. The arrangement was stupendous, and everyone was just amazing in their parts.

This is my favorite cover of this for sure and is tied for my favorite of PTX with Kiss From a Rose and The Prayer. It is literally beyond words to describe how epic and phenomenal they are, and how they just (somehow!) continue to get better!! 💜 Chills and goosebumps even after hearing it over 100 times.

It really annoyed me until I just decided to stop letting it get to me and then just skipping some of his Pentatonix reactions because I was tired of hearing about the other 2 groups every time on every Pentatonix reaction.

However, I also saw an early version that they did with Avi. They were sitting outside on a long downed tree trunk. They did they clapping in that video too. It's just a guess, but I think a pretty good one; I believe that they recorded themselves doing all the clapping parts. And so it's still them, in my opinion! 😉😅 Luv ya Kaireem! 😊❤❤

To add to your "O Holy Night" theme, here's a very different rendition, as performed in December 2022 by Avi Kaplan and his touring band. Avi hadn't performed any holiday music since leaving PTX in 2017, but he threw together this arrangement on the fly at the last minute in order to perform it as a thank you final encore at the 3 Texas cities that he'd had to postpone shows for earlier in the tour.
