- I hope you enjoy my Colonial Christmas home tour for 2021! I waited for the last minute when I heard we had snow on it's way. It was a bit of a time challenge decorating our new antique home for Christmas, but it actually made the house feel more like home and I'm glad I did what I could do!
This year I decorated in a simpler classic Colonial New England style and I'm thrilled with how it all came out, and I am even more thrilled I will have less to put away in the new year! I'm still decorating for a Colonial style Christmas here in New England and we have a lot of rooms we are remodeling and decorating, so stay tuned for more!

You know what … I “discovered” you one day while home with a mild cold - just playing around with You Tube. Immediately became a Subscriber and kindred spirit. The first video I watched was your Christmas Tour. And while watching this one, I am blown away by how much you’ve done since moving in such a short short time ago. How did you get this all done girl! I have to tell you that I unexpectedly cried during your filming of Meadow and Ben playing in the night’s snow. Life is those very precious moments. Those magical peaceful love in our hearts moments of time. Then I laughed at Meadow wearing and posing in her reindeer headband.
I guess what I’m saying is that not only do you inspire me to continue (at age 69) to put my mark on every corner of my home, but you also share your love of those you create your HOME for.

Willow makes everything better! She’s just so adorable. Linda, this tour was great. I think my favorite room is the bedroom. Something about the sparse tree, the white linens with a bit of red on the pillow, the dark beams and all the natural light. And the snow outside?! Gorgeous. Thank you!
Some people have style and class. You have it in spades! Your decorating made this house a home. No flashing lights, no noisy animation, no blow-ups. We have access to new modern architectural designs that are being overlooked and put on shelves because you promote the past and underestimate the opportunities in the future. Developers can't make modern and futuristic homes while you romanticize the past so much. The pilgrims defected from England for many reasons.

It was nice seeing what you've done with familiar pieces from your former home (like Glitzen). I enjoyed the whole tour and Willow kept the antlers on just long enough to look cute, then "I'm done". I've struggled with Christmas spirit this year, but this is bringing me back, so Thank You. I may watch this more than once.

I have a house not NEARLY as old as yours, it was built in 1988. 😂 My husband and I had been planning to build or move but post-covid prices have nearly tripled. We've decided to stay where we are, and I've been a little bummed and resentful because I don't have the crisp white trim and subway tile backsplashes that I see on social media. Your videos, along with Linda Vaters, are helping me to accept and even learn to love and cherish my "older" home and it's character. I have large mature oak trees, something my new-build friends don't, and it's definitely cozy. I still want to make improvements (popcorn ceilings are a hard no), but I'm trying to fix it up while still keeping it's vintage charm. Thank you again for the inspiration. Your home looks lovely and I want some of that SNOW!! Merry Christmas. 🎄

@@mrs.m1752 Thank you!! And yes, you're right. What's actually pretty funny is that in our foyer we have a very old, brass light that is one of those sort of geometric shapes. It's been hanging there for decades and when we moved in I considered it an eye sore and one of the first things that needed to go. But walking through Lowes the other day I looked down the lighting aisle and saw nothing but brass geometric chandeliers!! They've come full circle! Maybe if I wait long enough popcorn ceilings will make a comeback too. 🤔

I was despising my old water damaged oak cabinets but after a good scrub, polish, new hardware and new shelf liner they are actually prettier than some of the brand new "press board" looking ones I've seen in showrooms. I still long for new, quality, modern things sometimes..but it's fun to slowly bring this place back to life. I think it has had 4 previous owners over the years, and sometimes when I'm repainting a room and I remove switchplate covers I can see the layers of different colors it's been painted over the years. Mint green, burnt orange, navy blue...yikes! It seems like the house is breathing a sigh of relief; "Finally, some neutrals!".

Beautiful! What's better than a cape cod in New England in the wintertime? 🦌🌨 I've never had the opportunity to visit New England, however I live in a historic village in Ohio. It's reminiscent of NE. A portion is the village, the other portion is township. I think you would feel at home passing through. Linda, your Christmas home tour is a true testament, that less can be more! All the effort of the creative handiwork and natural decor, purposefully placed and its ultimate reveal, being of simplicity is very tranquil and appealing. It's funny how ones senses, can kick in with the smell of the evergreens, spices and a hint of the roaring fire! Stratford, CT was founded by Thomas Fairchild, and two other men. I have never been to Stratford, and this is why I watch two people in the New England area, you and Donna Davis.
