- Weezer - Where Is My Mind? (Pixies cover) - Oakland, Live, 12-9-17, 1st row, Oracle Arena, Not So Silent Night 2017. Rivers Cuomo: We're touring next summer with The Pixies.. And in expectation of that wondrous event, we decided to learn a Pixies song.. So we're going to play it tonight.

Rivers (before 'Undone'): My voice is kind of fu*ked up right now... I don't know if you can tell. So if you know the words to any of these jams... Help a brother out! lol
Coincidentally, The Pixies just played in Oakland 2 days previously at the Fox Theater! We went to that show too.. :P
Brandon Flowers of The Killers remarked later that night that he couldn't believe they were playing after Weezer :P

For me the Pixies wrote and played some of the most important songs of that generation, this being one of those songs. Weezer has the talent and this is a good version. Thumbs up.

My brother had a garage band in the late 90's and they worshiped Weezer. That's a compliment.
I adore River. They are one of my absolutel favorite bands. So much fun live. I would see them a million times
I like when you're in the crowd and everyone's singing along but all I can hear is the ONE person and it's super irritating. These are 2 of my favorite bands. Hearing Weezers take on the song is really cool and I'm digging Rivers's vocals.
I can see myself being this girl though. Just being happy to hear Weezer cover the pixies and singing along without even realizing I was being annoying as fuck. Anyway if you like Weezer & The Pixies then you probably like Nirvana. Weezer did an entire concert under the name Goat Punishment where they just did Nirvana covers and it's fucking great.
She was fine, not annoying in the least. I've heard millions of times more annoying people in audiences and on stage for that matter.

They were on a Pixies cover record! And it's much better I assure you. His vocals here are like they've been since "The Green Album", playing it safe (compare his vocals here to anything off "Pinkerton." It's my favorite record, but I feel like the slow build to it's proper stature/initial negative reviews expecting surf so songs was kind of the worst thing that happened to the band.. I am not trying to be mean to you, i apologize if it's coming across that way. I want to recommend their take on a really great Pixies song "Velouria" (I'm sure it's on RUclips). i always just get sour when I think about Weezer after that album "Beverly Hills" was on ("Perfect Situation"-radio edit- aside). It crushed me. They were the Beatles to me.

Coolbassist I used to cover say it ain't so many moons ago. And I always wondered why it sounded familar. I stopped listened to Weezer after pinkerton. They lost Thier spark imo. Def dug the first 2 albums. Memorable riffs etc.

@@billy9361 Where is My Mind's Chord Progression is E C# G# A. Say It Ain't So has the same, just starting at the relative minor tho, so C#. It is also down-tuned a half-step, but you can pretty much say that it is inspired lol. But the songs feel completely different so I can see why you would say that it is not.

Weezer is always such a pleasure to see live. Last time I saw them Patrick and Rivers switched placed and did Time by Pink Floyd which was way better than it sounds, and they closed the show with Sliver by Nirvana. I've loved this band since they came out, and they'll always be one of the absolute greatest.
This is just fantastic on every possible level.

Funny how he said touring with the pixies next summer is a dream come true. The toured with the Pixies back in 2005 maybe 2006. It was an awesome show, definitely getting tickets for this summer.

I'm so glad to here Rivers say that "the old Weez" was influenced by the Pixies when they were picking up their guitars. The Pixies are so undervalued, underappreciated, IMHO. Many bands were influenced in some way by the Pixies, they're just the type of musical geniuses to pick up a trick or two from.

I hope you pay top dollar for concerts only to have that happen to you then dummy. Nothing more annoying than having to stand next to people like this at a concert. I've seen people literally get beat up by pissed off concert goers because of this dumb shit, and totally agree with the ass whoopin. Rightfully given if they ignore repeated calls to STFU.

Ok, this has been on my mind (Where it is? I'm not sure) So Matt Sharp already has some kind of Pixies connection right? So why not get Matt to sit in with the Pixies for a couple songs and see if Kim Deal could be coaxed to jam on a couple songs with Weezer? I think the tribute cover of where is my mind was pretty cool so really mix it up. And I would not mind hearing both bands do a couple of the others songs *But I think thats some taboo / insult from the old days?
Anyway - that way you don't have to mend fences or have some idiots think this is disrespectful to Scott Shriner (I Love the Shrinmeister too) and Paz Lenchantin.
