Brittany is a QUEEN. Please invite more people like her and Gary Clark Jr., Leon Bridges, etc. They need to be on the mainstream. Not just playing the festival circuit.
Thank you. I'm glad you mentioned those artists too. I've never really seen them on black platforms like this one or Big Boy, Angie, etc. They need more recognition but Gary Clark Jr. has won multiple Grammys so I'm glad they recognize him
I don’t know why black people are clowned one for liking rock, it mainly comes from other black people lol, my playlist goes from DaBaby to Alabama Shakes
When I first saw her and Alabama Shakes they were on David Letterman I was falling asleep and I heard it and woke up out of sleep and I was like who is this band
Here’s the thing.. Brittany never left the group. She IS Alabama Shakes. THEY are all Alabama Shakes. I luv that groups nowadays can go venture out and do their own thing.. as oppose to back then, when groups were always breaking up. It’s great to see. Even listening to Brittany’s new record, u hear elements of that Alabama Shakes sound. It’s just now solely thru her lens. I look forward to what they all do.
soul train - I know. And another thing most people don’t know... You’ve heard of someone doing a “cover song” right? Where an artist plays someone else’s song in their own style.... that name comes from back in the day when they’d take a black artists song and it wouldn’t sell so they’d put a white person on the “cover”... hence cover song...I’m an ally💪🏽
Love Brittany Howard, Alabama Shakes and her cover of Prince's "Breakdown." Absolutely amazing talent! I just want more music from her or the band or both.
Big Fan! Her solo album is NICE. Voice is AMAZING... I was shocked to see her on the Breakfast Club. Need more Black artist that are more diverse in the music game. Good interview.
@@perryi7752 Nope Perry, I haven't. Not like she's a household name, but that's one of the good things about TheBreakfastClub. They introduce you to artist /people you may not have heard of. Either way, I will listen to some of her music tonight.
Check out her first two albums. Nothing but hits. Her music been on everything since her first single. Commercials and movies. You probably heard but didn't know it was her. You are going to like it.
Well being that she is giving an interview on a Hip Hop and R&B station that I've personally never heard play her solo music or Alabama Shakes music. It is important to introduce the artist to their audience. So just because you know her and her story, doesn't mean the breakfast clubs audience does.
Love this interview! Thank you! I dragged some friends to a small venue in upstate New York to see Alabama Shakes (2009 maybe?) and everyone loved them! Brittany is so fresh, raw, sweet... Jaime is on in my car all the time.
Sister Rosetta Tharpe was tough on the guitar aka "Precious Meomories." She was very underatted I believe the Late Aretha Franklin and Little Richard got there style of singing from Amen.
Brittany Howard is a bit bored with their bland questions but she's politely trying to be engaging. It's sad when black music interviewers' knowledge of music only evolves around hip-hop and r&b.
Totally agree. Charlagmagne and the other one just focused on race. At least Angela kept trying to bring it back to the music. Charlagmagne was really annoying. Pointless and asinine. I just wanted to keep watching because I love Brittany!
Well it’s a hip hop r&b station. They are just giving her some visibility because they respect her artistry Have some respect yourself! They can control what radio station they work for. If you've never seen her live, get your life together 👏🏾 She sings from the bottom of her cervix! To feel that energy coming from her in real time is elevating.
Yeeeeessssssss! I love Britany. Her voice is so pure. 💗💗💗💗 I know she's solo now, but it would've been dope to have the entirety of the Alabama Shakes on.
Brittany is a LEGEND!!!!! Much respect to this Queen. As African Americans we should be proud of the fact that the rock genre and the majority of America music genre come from us. We move the culture.

When did Rock n Roll become white people music? If you study history (which most black people don't) black people originated rock and roll. if you said white people borrowed or took it for several years that would be correct! But it always has been BLACK people's music.
I consider her music mix momma makes you move have you on a natural high beautiful spirit . I could rock with momma all day long . Agree music is a healing agent for me .

She isn't Alabama Shakes. She's only the lead singer. That's like having 50 cent up there and saying you got G Unit up there.

Drummer had some allegations put against him about abusing a small kid. I think that’s what started it.
They are officially broken up now.
Don't disrespect B'jork. Highly talented. One of a kind.

An eclectic powerhouse who’s still going strong, without going mainstream at all.
alabama shakes is so much more than "rock music". people do themselves a disservice writing shit off so fast.

NOPE! Elvis started rock and roll. Stop lyin.
