If Michael would have humbly asked, Prince would have produced a whole album for him. It would have been like Mozart and Beethoven version of Phantom of the Opera. You can tell there was respect but MJ was almost Prince’s total opposite. Everything hurt Mike and he did everything for the fans, the press and lavished love on strangers. Prince was in love with himself and music, too on his own and needed people.

Money sin't everything, there's people who need to make music, most of them are the real artists. @@LarsStJohn great songs and producting made by Jimmy jam made her good singer. Her first couple of albums flopped. She might have gotten better as time progressed, but as I said her dad advised her to that direction. Idc if Prince was jealous.

@@thankthelord4536 There are false statements and fabrication in your initial comment and reply. First her father did not talk her into singing nor was it due to more money. He may have discussed it; he was her manager, which is what managers do. the final decision was hers. By the time she finished Control she had fired her father as mgr. If JJ did not want to sing she could have stopped then You state Jimmmy J and Terry L songs made her a good singer. The songs were co-written by Janet based on her life experiences. Giving a one a song does not make you a good singer. That statement makes no sense. Either u can sing or not. Also with regard to her first 2 albums lack of success. She was 15 plus and 17 plus when they were released. With any job/business; if u don't have support or the right ppl ( record label, radio, no videos were made etc.)behind u, one's success is limited. Which was the case for JJ. Fast forward to Control; the JJ machine was up and running full steam ahead. As for the sales of the first 2 albums they did ok for what was done or was not done. However record sales never stop increasing. As of today Janet Jackson and Dream Street has sold millions of copies. Janet has stated multiple times during her career; she loves singing and entertaining. No one's false statements will ever change that. May caddy and jealous Prince rest in peace.

@LarsStJohn you need to find the interview of her statement. MJ was a talent out the gate. Plenty of talent shows to prove it before his first album with his brothers. If you got it, you got it. La'Toya is less talented then J.J. BTW, she's no Whitney Houston.

First, Janet Jackson did mocked Prince's Under The Cherry Moon on that interview at the Casey Kasem tv show in 1987 (in the same spoiled-privilege-brat way she trashed Madonna many times). Second, Prince never called MJ a genius on that radio interview, he call him a "dancer and entertainer". Third, Prince called Janet “Michael’s sister” on the same radio show. BUT you know what really sucks? is all those crazy MJ fanatics misquoting Prince just to give some cool credit to MJ, there's the obsession with forcing the idea of Prince respecting MJ and there's more public proof that it was the opposite.

No. No. No. Prince was a musical genius. MJ had a musical genius drive his fame. He did not live his entire life catering to the masses, only to himself. Be it good or bad he was true to himself, which is why he is so revered as a musician. MJ’s legacy was severely tarnished because of his private life, so he will never have that same level of reverence
