    I'm 60 which has barely missed learning the secrets of wetsuits and classic cosmetics from my mom and my much older sister. Farrah Fawcett straight, feathered, blow-dried hair was de rigueur when I was in junior high. It never suited my extremely curly hair and clumsy hands. I'm glad you're doing a vintage channel for those of us who are of a certain vintage!

    Might have to give these a go! I would love to see a video on different types of setting lotion/products and how they stand up against each other.

    I did pincurls back in the early 2000s but looking back , the hairstyle made me look much older than I was.

    I actually made my own rollers with pieces of sponge inside, pipe cleaners and hand sewed them all in cotton fabric lol. It was a labor of love but they turned out great!

    Oh, I saw those on Amazon but went with the plain cotton ones. Yes, the wire pokes through those cheap ones.

    Pillow rollers are my go to! I have had to fix mine with my sewing machine as the wire pops out. I look forward to get a new set like yours to try them. They come in pretty colors so it is also more fun! Maybe the next video could be about the bendy rollers? Since you mentioned hair parting, another suggestion fora video could be about it. It would be great to hear your input about the hair partings and what to consider when choosing one. Thank you a lot for your vids!

    Thank you for this!! I have never tried pillow rollers before so I may just order a set because these curls ook so beautiful! I was wondering if you had any advice because I've tried doing a wet set so many times but I'm finding it so difficult. I am using a setting lotion and the denman D3 brush but my curls always end up so frizzy and uneven. The more I brush them they seem to loose their shape/curl and they look awful! I can also never seem to get the curls looking even and some of the ends stick out the wrong way or end up way longer than the rest of my hair. I'd love to be able to do them better and also quicker as it takes me so long but everytime I try it ends up going wrong ahah. Would you also recommend getting the curl shaper brush and does it make quite a big difference? Thank you! 💕 x

    I have some pillow rollers. Though with short hair, I still struggle to get the smooth brush out right...might give them another whirl...

    I accidentally came across pillow rollers at Walgreens a few years ago while I was waiting for a prescription to be filled. I thought "oh how cute" so I bought a pack...needed to replace my sponge rollers that (I allowed it) my daughter let a friend borrow and I never saw again. Side note: some were from the very early 80's that my mother used to set my hair.
    Anyway, used these pillow rollers for a quick-ish set a few days later. I was back at Walgreens the next day buying another pack.

    New to your channel....so hi! You mentioned having a layered hair cut for vintage styles? I've been told before that easier to rolls with the hair all the same length. Can you clarify for me please, I struggle with keeping the ends of my hair on the rollers. Thanks

    • @LadyInWaking
      @LadyInWaking  2 года назад

      It’s definitely easier to do rolls with hair cut one length but for authenticity, layers are a must. If you’re just after rolls, I would say stick with a blunt cut but if you want traditional waterfall waves I would keep practicing with a layered cut. Ladies of the era almost always had layers. Moistening the ends of the hair will help with managing them.

    Can't wait to get some to try. Can you tell me what color you use on your hair I'm looking at a chestnut brown or a red like yours.

    • @LadyInWaking

      I use L'Oreal Feria in Ruby Rush usually but this is very faded.

      @@LadyInWaking I'm not sure I could pull off ruby red at 56 yrs old but I found a great med red chestnut brown today. My natural color is a med ash blond/ brown, but I noticed a few silver hairs so maybe time to color my hair.

    Pillow rollers are what I grab 90% of the time these days. So much more comfy to sleep on! I have two of the exact same sets (because, thick hair!)...♥️ BTW, I'm really enjoying this new channel, I'm turning 50 next month...🫣
