    Has anyone else tried to buy dumbells since Beth started posting these workout videos? The whole world is working out now and weights are sold out everywhere! I'm making do with what I have for now, but will advance to heavier weights when they're back in stock.

      I am so glad you mentioned you were able to watch that video. Unfortunately, I think I confused a lot of people by how I did that. I was going to completely remake the video and started looking online for good arm workout exercises but then I realize that wouldn’t really be honest as I am still doing exactly the same exercises I was doing two years ago and they really do work.     I’m absolutely going to try this workout. I’m 48 years old (I’ve been thin my whole life) but I’ve noticed my arms looking “flabby” the last year or so. I walk between 3-5 miles a day at work (I’m a STNA at a large retirement center) so no real issues with my legs. I’ve always eaten healthy (I was raised a vegetarian) but I’ve really been thinking about getting my arms in shape. Thanks for the kick in the butt I needed! And btw- your butt is looking good too! I see a huge improvement. Great job Beth!

I like it because it takes less than 10 minutes and seems to produce results very quickly. In fact I look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays because that’s largely when I do it although I have learned that if you just do one set per day you can do it up to six days a week which I may do instead as it is so easy and quick. Jana, I can tell by your photo and some of your previous comments that you also Take great care of yourself too!     I have been waiting for this one, I've been doing your butt one for about a week now, i used to work out 5 days a week mostly lift weights and tone but I've been a slacker and don't want to end up like my mother at 79 and struggling. I'm 48 and I need to get back to a routine..thank you for the videos!!

      Hi Kim, I am so glad you have been doing weight training! I really can’t believe the positive impact it can have on our bodies. This Saturday I am a Video about a 10 minute Glute work out which would include the hips. I do it in front of the TV and really think it is effective. I will post that video within the next four weeks. I am doing research on a good ab work out right now as I really need one. When I find some good exercises for that I will definitely make another video. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I appreciate it!

You know, I am really surprised I have stuck with the weight training as I also tend to fall off on things like that. I have now done it solely for six months and it is really much easier to stick with it than I thought it would be. The workouts don’t take that long and they’re pretty gratifying because the results come pretty quickly. As always, it was great to see you!

      15. But I worked up to that. If you’re just starting out five or 10 pounds is fine. Just use the heaviest weight that you can lift 8 to 10 times when that becomes too easy add a few more pounds either another three or another 5 pounds.

    Oh Beth you look incredible and your are a walking advertisement for exercise and weight lifting.. I am used to only one type of exercise which is cardio but you're right building muscles is essential...my doctor who is specialized in anti aging and beauty and is about your age...she's so nice ..but you look like you're two decades younger !!! have you learnt all those exercises in the book you showed us at the beginning of this weight lifting journey?. you're turning into a gym expert for second half women :-)

      Nordick track hi there. Our treadmill is Nordick track and it is a really good one. We got it at seeders but you can get it a lot of different places. That brand in general I find to be very good.

    How long before you could do 15-pound weights, Beth? I am your age and find it hard to bump up the weights without injuring my tendons. I wish you would mention how to workout without becoming injured more in your videos, as it's so easy to do at our age.

      Hi there. How much weight each person uses is totally dependent on their own body. How to calculate what weight you should start with Is to use the weight in which you can do 10 reps but really not many more. Actually, 8 to 10 reps at the highest weight you can. I started with 5 pound weights, then a few months later went to 10 pounds and then 15 pounds. I have backed off to 10 pounds as the higher weight was making my veins bulge on my arms which I did not like. Just use the weight that feels comfortable for you.

    Beth I am curious about your arms. Did you have bat wings before you started this workout? I am doing your same program with 3 days of lower body and 2 days of the arm workout. On weekends I do some walking and cardio. I have awful bat wings and I am hoping this workout will help. I am one month into the program so far. Up to this point I feel stronger. My 10lb weights now feel lighter than when I first started. I still have bat wings, but I am hoping to be rid of the after 6 months. When I do the arm workout I do 3 sets of each of the exercises. Now I am increasing it to 15 reps instead of 12. I need to buy heavier weights. Can you tell me if the lower part (underside) of your arms were flapping? Or if anyone else can respond and tell me if they have noticed if their bat wings are gone.

      Hi there. Congratulations on working so consistently to have an improvement in your arms. I am going to be showing advice on my channel soon that helps with things like arm fat. Unfortunately, sometimes there is only so much we can do by tightening up the muscle if we still have faster. That is an area where we just get pockets a fat almost regardless of what we do. Please keep watching my channel because I should have that within the next month or so. It really helps with that.

      I don’t really know. It’s different for each person. You just use the heaviest weight at which you can get 8 to 12 reps with good form.

      They actually have been studies where if someone breaks a hip, in the majority of cases they do not make it for another year. People are lucky and can get through it but for others it is kind of a death sentence. I think that is very sad.

    When you're in your 50s you think you can get rid of batwings by building muscle. But as you age the skin detaches from muscle and simply becomes loose drapery over the muscle..so no matter how developed and toned the muscles..the skin hangs down below them..even if you are skinny. The exercises will still make you strong

      I have seen female body builders, near 70 and one that is 84. Their skin is very taut, their faces look about 30 years younger.

      Excellent point. You were so right! Well I am weight training I am also looking for ways to firm up saggy skin. I have a video coming on my channel soon about the results after six months of using the derma roller on sagging skin. I haven’t seen the final final photos yet obviously but I have to admit I am not optimistic about them at this point. I am also trying some TCA peels and you will see those videos in the future. I am bound and determined to try to help us all with saggy skin!

You have to eat a lot of fat to stay in ketosis. I dont know how it works for the arteries long term. I dont think it would help loose skin..but if you find out it does post a comment please!

    I was taught that if you're losing your form, it's time to stop, so when you're having to lean backwards to do bicep work, you've gone to far. Moderation is key to toning at middle age.

    You are so sweet and love you, but I have to tell you that when you talk about hammer curls, you are not working on your deltoids. That is just another version of a bicep curl. If you want to work on deltoids, a shoulder press would be the exercise (there are three parts to that muscle that you want to influence but your anterior delts which is what I think you were trying to address in a hammer curl would be best worked by a shoulder press).☺️

    Beth, I am not writing this to criticize you. I think that you're in great shape and are a very attractive and fit woman. However, I think I should mention a couple of things. During the exercises at times, you're swinging the weights and trying to using momentum to assist in lifting the weights. This means you're straining because the weights are too heavy for you. (Movements should always be slow and deliberate keeping good posture and not straining). You are also swaying backwards at times in order to make it easier to lift the weights. So again, you're straining. This causes the exercise to be less effective. Proper form is the most important thing for maximum effectiveness. So if you have to go down to a lighter weight, it's much better than to struggle with a heavier one. When you do that you do that, you will still get good results. (As a sidenote, I used to be a professional trainer and you've motivated me to start exercising again, so thanks for the video).
