Why are all your season 1 videos linked to the same videos but not the actual reaction highlights? Is there a way to watch your reaction highlights from season 1?
It’s because the dub doesn’t do it justice. I’m not one of those sub only people but sometimes you have to watch it subbed if it’s far superior. I watched both and almost felt nothing watching the dub version, wish they would switch sometimes but hopefully the dub team improved in season 2

I can't remember if it was clearer in the manga because of the narrator, but yes - Einar is no longer in England as Ketil's Farm where he was taken is located in Southern Denmark.
i actually haven't watched their reaction to s1 yet, but in their defense the first season is a lot more shōnen-y than s2 and inferior, they changed and included very weird stuff and left out some of the context and developing of some characters. even the focus felt like it was more on the action and Thorfinn's journey (more like a traditional shōnen, it was even a lot more linear time-wise) than the philosophies that Yukimura tries to explore and the secondary characters that support the intentionally stagnant protagonist. in the manga, the point of the series is much more noticeable than in s1 of the anime, it feels much more mature and original and you can actually kinda predict what will the series be about from way earlier. maybe that's why they gave Vinland such a low score, because s1 is not so different from other series (at least compared to the manga). s2 felt much more in sync with the original series and i personally liked it much more.

I think you need to rewatch the season 1 reactions. I liked their discussions. It was only thorfinn they didn't like because his character didn't develop over 24 episodes. There were moments of him seeing flashbacks with his dad but it didn't bring any change in him. He was very one dimensional. Continuously watching the main character not develop can be sometimes annoying. And then, askellad's, thorkell and canute's development was written very well. The episode where canute snapped and learned the concept of 'love' is still very controversial. I liked discussion they had in that particular episode. Eric dismissed the ideology while Rick understood it completely. Aaron and calvin didn't go that deep. But it was interesting to watch people at least get what the fuck is going on. It's very unusual to write characters like thorfinn, throwing him into the background and developing the villain and other characters. I get the intention of the author too but it's very risky to retain the audience. While us fans like it a lot, it's not unusual to dislike some aspects of season 1. I heard somewhere that in the manga, when farmland arc began, it wasn't taken very positively because there was a sudden tonal change in the story. But it slowly got better, chapter by chapter. The dub of season 1 that these guys watched was also a hit or a miss in some places. Even in their ranking video, they criticized that voice modulation of the sentai dub wasn't very good. Only askellad and thorkell were killing it with the voices. And also, this anime is unlike a lot of anime. It takes its time, it isn't dopamine-fuelled action shonen even though the action sometimes in season 1 can be a bit over the top. It doesn't have the usual anime tropes. There's a lot of subtle storytelling, a lot of metaphors, a lot of 'show don't tell' western style. In short, I get the reason they criticized the show, even I personally did. But they didn't hate it, they had a lot of expectations going in but the show didn't deliver to them (it did to me, upon rewatches, though). I hope they like this season because it has one of the best character arcs in any show. Thorfinn might be one of the best written MC ever.
I doubt they would remember much of it anyway at this point. They have watched like 700 shows since then. This season does a good job of showing everything that needs to be felt, even without much context of who Thors was.
@JohnJohnson27-cs6ix If you think they only like fights that's on you. I just finished them watching the Holdovers, a movie with one 10 second long fight and they loved it. I don't think season 1 is amazing but I love season 2 which has 10 times less fights. I don't understand how you can argue that someone who only likes fights wouldn't like season 1 when there were so many fights. The issue was past Canute and Askeladd there wasn't much character.
My friend wasn't a big fan of the first season, but he loved the second season. So much so that he said it gave him the desire to re-watch the first season with a new perspective. I'm hoping these guys get something similar out of watching S2.
I'm pretty much in the same boat. Sure there were neat things, but the first season seemed pretty aimless and therefore boring for me until Canute started to evolve (so quite close to the end). This season though? Fantastic. This felt like the TRUE story that we had just been building up to.

Askelaad became one of my favorite characters in anime, which says something after just one season. But after S2, Thorfinn became my fav character in anime and enhanced my opinion of S1, which I enjoyed but not loved. Vinland S2 is something I've been wanting from anime for a long time. To tell a story at an adequate pace so each important moment can have a greater impact instead of sudden shift of perspectives. I hope you guys enjoy it.

The motorcycle thing is something to present the animation studio that's in charge, it was also in the first season but instead of mappa it showed WIT studio, maybe when you guys watched it, it didn't show
Thorfinn slashed Canute (the prince) after Canute killed Askeladd, so we can assume he was sold into slavery as punishment (he's lucky to still have his head)
Season 2 wasn't like how many people expected after season 1, lack of action and politics, but its more about love and freedom. Totally different theme with season 2.

I’m excited for them to watch this! I was somewhat in the same boat as them back in season one (though I personally ranked it higher lol). Then season 2 changed my perspective on the previous season and I loved it! S2 is such a deep dive into character, which the guys will appreciate with Thorfin. The emotional journey he embarks is executed so well, along with the supporting cast, especially Einar. I hope you guys appreciate the slower and methodical approach of this season💙

It does seem silly but I think the Netflix dub from what I’ve heard is a decent bit better. There’s also less creative liberty changes in the script compared to the Sentai one so that helps

Aww, was hoping y'all would go with crunchyroll's dub this season. Not only to just stay consistent with what you watched last season, but for S2 netflix really is the overall weaker showing. Like, for this season the only characters who I'd say are overall better in netflix are Ketil, and Sweyn and Floki (who are barely in it). Literally everyone else is either easily better in crunchyroll, or a close call and that's mainly because netflix through a lot of fairly inexperienced actors into the cast this season (most noticeably for Thorgil and Arnheid). Ian Sinclair as Einar and Chris Sabat as Snake are the most perfect casting and it is a damn shame they won't hear it.
Disagree for most of this. Thorfinn's VA on Netflix dub >>>>>> ( and this is the most vital character in Season 2). Snake's VA also great. Same with Olmar & Einar. Also,the script on Netlfix dub is so much better than CR dub. One thing i could agree on is Arnheid's VA being the weakest among Netflix VA casts.

People need to relax with reactions. The whole point of watching a reaction is to get a different viewpoint, see if they're similar or different than yours, and embrace it. Blindwave has always been critical thinkers, and I respect it and thats why I love them. They catch things I never catch and they also get things that people usually dont get. Unless they aren't open minded with new shows/movies why would you ever dislike an honest reaction? Thats what you came here for LMAO. I loved season 1, was sad but understand what they wanted but Im not questioning their taste, that'd be stupid.

Season 2 is some of the best anime has had to offer in recent years and I'm saying that as someone who pretty much originally dropped season 1 (although I had already read the manga so I wasn't really missing anything).
I honestly can't really blame them for not being big fans of season one, the first time I watched I just thought it was kinda OK as well. But season two really breathed new life into this series for me and I went back and rewatched the previous season and saw it in a whole new light and now Vinland Saga is my number one favorite anime.
I totally agreed with their rating. I had heard lots of hype and and praise about Vinland Saga, but when I watched the first season I didn't care about the story much (especially after Thors died) so I didn't care for season 2 when it was airing, especially hearing from people who were hyped about season 1 saying people may fall off the show in season 2 due to some "farm arc". But when I sat down to watch season 2.... MAN WAS IT AMAZING!!!! Season 1 for me was a 5/10, but season 2 was 10/10 its story was so captivating! Vinland saga is now one of my favorite show due to season 2 alone. So I'm sure they will love the show after watching the 2nd season.

But season two really breathed new life into this series for me and I went back and rewatched the previous season and saw it in a whole new light and now Vinland Saga is my number one favorite anime.

I totally agreed with their rating. I had heard lots of hype and and praise about Vinland Saga, but when I watched the first season I didn't care about the story much (especially after Thors died) so I didn't care for season 2 when it was airing, especially hearing from people who were hyped about season 1 saying people may fall off the show in season 2 due to some "farm arc". But when I sat down to watch season 2.... MAN WAS IT AMAZING!!!! Season 1 for me was a 5/10, but season 2 was 10/10 its story was so captivating! Vinland saga is now one of my favorite show due to season 2 alone. So I'm sure they will love the show after watching the 2nd season.
