I went to Italy eight years ago and we stayed in Florence for three days. Every morning my sister and I would be up WAY too early and we'd be downstairs waiting for breakfast. A woman came downstairs and we were just sitting there waiting (My sister was 6 and I was 8) for our family to wake up. She made us this hot chocolate, and we had it for the next two mornings we were in Florence. It was Heaven in a cup. I've always wondered what it was called, and until now I could never find out a recipe. Of course it's just hot chocolate, in Italian! I think I will make this for my family on a Sunday morning and surprise them. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Tastemade, not only did you bring me a great recipe, you brought back really fond memories of the greatest trip of my life. :)
Well, actually.. not quite, in germany, this is pretty much our Pudding. XD Though we wait till it cools down usually and when its even thicker and a really nice dessert. Omg, I need to make some tomorrow.
I had this at a Spanish chocolate restaurant and i fell in love with it's richness and consistency! The western watered down hot chocolate can't even compete with this!
This is sooo goood! Nothing like going into a restaurant in a rainy day in Venice, Milano, Roma, Firenze, Napoli, you name, Italy, and get one of these....
OMG... I went to Milan a few years ago during winter and stopped by a cafe for hot chocolate, it was the best hot chocolate I have had in my life and I always wondered how it was made!! I am so happy I found this vid!
This is, by far, the SEXIEST video you guys have made:) The manner in which it was filmed, the speed, the music, and the shaving of the chocolate was beautiful
YES, finally something italian! so chuffed to spot a little Baiocchi biscuit at the end.. and people don't worry, you could drink 5 cups and still want more!
finally a real hot chocolate I was tired of going twice a day in the bar to get a hot chocolate so I wanted to do one by my own but every recipe I found was awful it was like I was drinking a hot cocoa
I love this. In the South we call it chocolate gravy and put it on biscuits. When I was little, I always wanted to drink it but that was absurd. Now I know I was just channeling my inner Italian!
I don't think I could drink this. Maybe dip some strawberries and cookies into it, but to drink an entire cup? I think I'd go into a sugar/chocolate coma for a month.
the interesting bit is that there are only 2 tablespoons of sugar and 6oz of chocolate (dark chocolate, which won't have very much sugar) in the whole thing - to be split between 4 people. (so that's half a tablespoon of sugar in one mug - people do that much and more in their coffee). Yes, there's a bunch of cream, but it's the cornstarch that makes it thick. One can of soda-pop has 4 tablespoons of sugar. If you'd drink a can of soda with a meal, I don't see a problem with this. (Health-content-wise, I do recognize that maybe you just can't deal with large doses of heavy texture and taste).
RaeynaFicst I'm not sure I worded that in the best way. I just mean to say that it's interesting to look at what the actual ingredients mean as a health choice (and I'm certainly not labeling this a healthy drink), and comparing it to other choices we and others make, separate from the tasting experience. Indulge in whatever way you like to most. And dipping cookies and fruit into this sounds divine.
RaeynaFicst Totally agree with RaeyaFicst. This thing has barely 2 TBS of sugar plus Dark Chocolate which is actually healthy. Split into 4 people. I truly fail to see where the coma would come from.
I kinda thought the same thing, but I made this tonight, and it was drink-drank-drunk in a flash and SO YUMMY! Worth a try, and thin it out to your own preference, who is gunna know?
then that would just be a chocolate ganache, which is not a drink. the cornstarch just makes it thicker and the half and half is to make it richer. explains the food porn
I would think it would work, might make it too rich though using straight cream. You have very little to lose mixing chocolate and cream, it's got to taste good! lol To me, this recipe is a little to thick for my liking, more like chocolate pudding, but you can't go wrong no matter which way you eat/drink it.
I just saw like one video of yours and subscribed.....love the way you present and design the video. ..so creative MashaAllah.....its like being in a drinks only dream..hehe

What a great story - thanks for sharing!
but is it just hot chocolate? The cornstarch makes me think it is more of a pudding.
@@shess1640the consistency of it is like pudding and needs to be. That’s what makes it “Ciccolota calda “
this series does good for humankind. everywhere.
The looks and the music of this vid were outstanding. Thanks for sharing
The editing, the music, the info... You guys are AMAZING!!! Please never stop this show I enjoy it so much.
These camera angles are insane. The lighting. The editing. So well done. Swoon.
I do not want Thirsty For... to end! Can it just be a continuous part of every single Sunday for the rest of my life, please?
Currently in Italy right now and I am pretty much told every day that this is a "must get item" before I leave.
Love the slo-mo bit when the text hit the cornstarch. All the visuals are amazing.

Beautifully shot, but what makes it perfect is the music. Salute!
I love how this series is filmed!
This is pretty much just eating ganache out of a cup...
I may or may not be guilty of doing that... >.> The professionals call it "tasting" things as you cook, so I'm told.
Well, actually.. not quite, in germany, this is pretty much our Pudding. XD Though we wait till it cools down usually and when its even thicker and a really nice dessert.
Omg, I need to make some tomorrow.
I would rather call it heart attack in a cup.. lol
also that, probably lol
Nad Kudo But chocolate is good for you, right? ;)

Your videos are getting better and better everyday (: I love it
Half and half for those who don't know is equal parts whole milk and cream mixed for the richness of cream but with a lower fat content
The only truly positive thing of winter in Rome... It's perfect for everything: lazy and cold days, exams, heartbreak... Pure love in a cup!

Looks so delish. Reminds me of hot chocolate I had in Rome.
It really came together beautifully!
This was really beautiful for some reason.
Mmmmm...hot chocolate pudding.
finally a real hot chocolate
I was tired of going twice a day in the bar to get a hot chocolate so I wanted to do one by my own but every recipe I found was awful it was like I was drinking a hot cocoa
Beautiful editing
Wonderful and I like the music :)
I just made this and it is by far better than regular hot chocolate!!
This video almost feels intimate, like a massage or getting your hair washed by someone.
I love this. In the South we call it chocolate gravy and put it on biscuits. When I was little, I always wanted to drink it but that was absurd. Now I know I was just channeling my inner Italian!
I made this yesterday and it tasted amazing, not like the original Italian chocolate that I had, but still delicious
Beautiful camera work!
the music was very soothing....
I would love to see an elderflower cordial recipe from you guys! Especially with the elderflower season on it's way :)
Oh man guys, I love this week's upload, it's absolutely perfect! And also, what kind of chocolate would you recommend for this recipe? A 60-70% cacao?
this is way better than the straight up liquid stuff! thanx so much im never going back to it again
Possibly the sexiest cooking video I've ever seen.
... I need to make this...
Wow. Just wow.
Reminds me of the soted food eye candy series :) looks delish

This is more like chocolate pudding than pure melted chocolate.
Worth a try, and thin it out to your own preference, who is gunna know?
its like chocolate pudding that loves you back.
Beautifully presented. Yummy, just not sure about 1/2 and 1/2 and cornstarch. Why not just heavy cream and chocolate?
then that would just be a chocolate ganache, which is not a drink. the cornstarch just makes it thicker and the half and half is to make it richer. explains the food porn

That chocolate, is like foodporn!!:o

I've always wondered how they make this super thick hot chocolate, now I know, thanks
Super! Good video, good music, everything! ;)
I had this with churros when I was in Cabo, it was so good.
This look great!!! I would thin it out just a little more for me.....
oh good lord! i need this in my life!!!
Wow i think this is the most sensual food tutorial I have seen in a while
especially awesome editing this time, very cool video, and a very hot drink
I like to add espresso to mine to thin it out, technically I know that it makes it a mocha, but I don't care. Sooo good!!
I'm sold
This is insanely good
This video looks like a f**king movie! Needless to say I love this show.
This should have a warning at the beginning for explicit content.
I cant believe you are doing Kashmiri Chai next week... Love to see your interpretation of it.
THIS VIDEO MAKES ME SUFFER
wow, I gotta make this for my next winter party
