Last year on my birthday I played Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd: ruclips.net/video/Khf-N2f8T78/видео.html It's my birthday again today, so by way of tradition, I thought I'd play another one of my favorites: Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. If you have song requests for next year, and maybe before, let me know.
I've gotta say Mr. Fridman, your impressive. I've actually had my kids follow you. Your a martial artist, musician, accomplished academic, an affable socialite, maintain a clean appearance and humble. Thank you for being an incredible role model. Your impact is real and is positively shaping the lives of atleast 1 family of 6.
You are not just a simple kind of man lex you are also an amazing man and a inspiration to every guy watching you. Sing all of it, we are all waiting for you here.
Holy cow Lex! You blow me away everyday. Now you sing! I’m late to your game but feel blessed to be paying attention now. You’re an unbelievably likable, humble and kind genius. The world has very few like you. We need you. May God continue to bless you!
How is this possible? Guitar, Podcast, MIT, Teacher, Martial Arts, and much more. The level of productivity and hard work to attain all of that is mind-boggling. You are really inspiring. Lex, I would be actually interested in your life-principles, daily habits, and general attitude that helped you attain these. Will you please do a podcast on this topic for us?
I come back to this cover a lot. There’s something about it that brings out this absolute joy in me to be alive everyday. The gift of each day where I can get up and learn something new. And god knows there’s always something new.
This song has such a place in not my heart but my soul. I was scared teenage mom with my son on my lap that first night in the hospital. looking out at the full moon with this little human that i had no idea how to raise alone looking back at me. the only thing i could think to do was sway him back and forth while singing this to him over and over. My Son is now 25..an incredible human and even better father. Thanks Lex for the version that felt like that night.
To me he oozes work ethic and self-discipline more than talent. At least as a person lacking significant innate musical talent, I like to hope I can reach this modest level of proficiency with hard work and self-discipline. Of course in his own field he is mega-talented.
@@Zachary_Setzer exactly. Nobody is just born with talent. Some pick things up more quickly than others, but even with that there are always many variables at play which contribute to that. I’ve played guitar for 20 years. It took me s year and a half to get decent rhythm. I quit for months at a time the first 5 years. I wasn’t musically inclined when I started playing at 19. In the past 5 years I have improved significantly and been able to write quite a bit of music, much of it unique and/or complex. Many might assume I’m ‘talented’ if they heard me play. The actual truth is I have worked really hard and overcome many challenges to get where I currently am… talent doesn’t build muscle memory, repetition does
I’m impressed considering you’re not a professional musician. Didn’t know you could play or sing. It takes guts to put yourself out there. You’re an inspiration.
My grandfather used to play this when I was a youngling. I play this on my b-day, every year. It keeps me grounded. This is my favorite cover of this song. I think I fell in love with Lex even more.
What an absolutely incredible Hue-Mane being, the more I hear of you, the more you amaze. As a mother of four sons I must say I have never heard that song before so thank you very much for introducing it to my playlists 🎉❤️✌️🐜
Crazy i was just listening to a random acoustic playlist and this came up, was like damn this sounds like a good cover already listening to the first seconds of it, and then boom its Lex! Much love brotha!
I never would have thought Lynyrd Skynyrd would be in your wheelhouse, but your guitar playing is beautiful and you have a Leonard Cohen quality to your voice. Thank you for bringing in-depth thinking to the world. It's refreshing to go deep on subjects when conventional news only offers sound bytes.
Happy birthday Lex, and keep on this wonderful podcast. Its one of my favourite of all! Thank You! Sounds very good btw, this song really suits my actual mood...
Lex, that’s a beautiful rendition of Simple Man. I am a big fan of both You and LS. I first saw them in 1977, Nassau Coliseum, LI, NY. What a show! I will always treasure that concert as it was the original LS band. ❤️✌️🇺🇸
That was good. The "I wish I could sing like that" kind of good. Happy birthday, Lex. I don't have any song suggestions but I will suggest that you make more videos like this one. Your channel is already a treat for people who are interested in science. Maybe it will grow into a beautiful combination of science and art. 😊
An all around man. What else can’t you do. I’m a fan . Watch your podcast. Rogan is my second. You’re an inspiration to many youngsters and the adult academia as well . Thank you.
Savage lex , i listened to you on jre , i really like your energy u so chilled ,i play guitar myself and can tell u this is a savage cover because its really hard too sing but u made it your own , good job ,and u have a great podcast too
Hey Lex, this is a really nice cover. It's also nice to see more dimensions of someone as accomplished and prolific as you. I'm in grad school for AI and Computer Vision, but I feel like I've abandoned my music since starting on this path. It's inspiring to see someone doing both.
Brings chills, every time I hear it. Lex's melodic voice is raw, real and relevant. Please, musician Lex needs to do more covers or perform his own pieces. (Using someone else's voice: It is entirely possible Lex could do musical gigs at venues and have a side carreer as a musician)
@@damienlazar6103 "Once Upon a Time in the West," "News," "Single Handed Sailor," "Tunnel of Love," all would fit well in my opinion. I'd love to see Lex rock the end solo on Tunnel! And his voice meshes well with Knopfler's guitar in my mind.
@@MelSogo i'd love to see that too. Agreed! The list goes on though haha, on every street, the man's too strong, latest trick, there's so many songs that would suit him. You should arrange another Joe Rogan appearance, this time with Khabib. Russian edition.
Lex, great cover! You should really do a Johnny Cash cover. Your voice is perfect for it!
