I have two insights about this "type of" stove. (PS I use mine frequently - most recently three weekends ago on a solo weekend tarp & bedroll trip.) Firstly, I no longer refer to these as wood stoves. The thickest wood you can use is what I would use as kindling on a regular fire so I now refer to them as kindling stoves. Secondly, I have just decided on a new one myself even though mine is still excellent, but I did so because I wanted a wider wood box and cooking surface. I used to use it just to quickly boil water if I didn't want to make a large fire, but on my last trip I wanted to make breakfast and the surface did not heat my frying pan around the edges equally. I found one on Amazon that is 9" X 5" instead of the traditional 4"-5" square.
