Lyndsay Boysen was my band director my freshman and sophomore year of high school.
Both Andrew and Lyndsay are by far the best people Ive ever met in my life.
They moved when I was a junior in high school and I was heartbroken. I don't think you understand, this woman is the reason I am who I am today. Every rehearsal she made me fall in love with music over and over again.
She hates the fact this song exists. She doesn't like attention at all and this piece is all about her. Not even just because its titled after her, but also because this song is her. The flute solo represents her. She is a flute player. This is a love song about their marriage and it is the most beautiful thing. No words can even describe it. If only everyone who played this piece had the opportunity to know her and be as close with her as I was. She's an extraordinary woman, and Andrew is such a nice man. He fixed my saxophone once before a parade in my town.
This woman is amazing I can't stress that enough.
The band director I have now is amazing too. He has a doctorate in conducting, he has taught all over the country, he has connections to members of the BSO, CSO, He has done teaching overseas, he knows so many amazing composers and is also incredibly smart. He helps me everyday to find the music in my life.
But Lyndsay put the music there in my heart. And while i love my band director, nothing can take her place in my heart. My heart breaks when I hear music we played. I haven't seen her in a year and a half and I miss her more and more every day. I wish everyone got to know what an amazing person she is. Then that would make this song as meaningful to you as it is to me.

+Katie Fitzpatrick Andrew Boysen just last week guest conducted my band for a concert at my college. We played this piece and heard it's entire back story and he told us about Lyndsay. This was the piece that spoke to me, I get chills listening to it. Was a pleasure meeting him and playing for him

Katie Fitzpatrick We'll be playing this song at my school's concert in May. I'm the flute soloist, and I am so glad that I came across your comment. Learning about who they are makes it all the more real to me. I'll do my best to do the song, the solos, and Andrew and Lyndsay justice. 😊

I preformed this at my final high school concert on 5/12/22. My band director who I’ve know for 14 years of my life announced his retirement in April and this was the last song we got to play. Half the band couldn’t even keep it together we were all crying. Even the most hardened unbreakable people were breaking down. At the start of the piano solo at 4:51 our director slowly put his arms down and looked up into the sky his face completely soaked with tears. The entire band crying together as the beautiful piano solo concluded not just my high school career as a musician, but the career of a man whose been teaching in the district for 27 years. Elementary, middle, and high-school. A man whose touched the lives of thousands upon thousands of kids over the year and had left a bigger impact on our small community than anyone I could ever think of. I simply can not think of a better end🥲

There's something about this song that is such a good finale. I had one more year left, but for some reason I feel this deep, I dont know, sadness? Listening to this song. Like it was the end of something great. It was the last song I played that year, last time with my friend too.
I don't want to call it sad, maybe emotional. But I totally understand what you meant, and I'm genuinely distraught over the end. It was a different time then, and its gone unfortunately, but those are the things that make you who you are

I got to play the piano for this song for my high school's wind ensemble. The first time I heard it, I had looked it up, and teared up. This is such a beautiful song. However, hearing it live.. there's nothing like it. I would have burst into tears from it had I not been in public in front of teenagers. But when I looked at the conductor to play the final arpeggio, I could see he also teared up. This is without a doubt one of my favorite songs, ever.

i really want to join my middle school wind Ensemble and play this. if they do play this again. my sister was playing in the band not as the soloist but she was there, and the first time i heard this i teared up and fell in love with it. It was the most touching time in band of my life. I love band so much. I dont get it when people say band suckes. I LOVE BAND SO MUCH!! This song is my all time favorite. If you wanna check my school band out search "South Pointe Middle School Band" And if you want you can search up "proud to be a panther" and "South Pointe A School to Watch" There really good videos.

My sister was the clarinet for this song in her band. She hadn't played for years and she was getting really stressed about things. She had found the sheet music for it and her old instrument and started playing. It was squeaky at first but within 30 minutes she had it again. She played for an hour and when she finished her chores he came down happier than she had been in a while.

I'm not usually a sucker for love songs unless they're really good, but this song is BEAUTIFUL! I can't stop listening to it! Thanks for posting it!

The New Mexico All-State symphonic band played this with Andrew Boysen conducting two years ago; the experience was a very unique one to say the least. At the end of the piece after the piano faded away, he always, ALWAYS had this preoccupied and dazed look in his eyes and took alittle more time in this than the rest of the pieces to lower his baton. It was the sweetest thing ^.^

Even as a clarinet, this was an amazing song to play in high school. Still one of my favorites, right behind Sanctus from Canon in D.

this piece is so incredible. last year at the UF band camp the upper band played this, and i knew then i had to buy the camp CD. the composer Andrew Boysen was in the audience, and Dr.David Waybright told us Andrew wrote the song for his wife. i thought that was the most touching story i've ever heard! :]
