Hey Bob, your 4:44 reaction got me thinking. Jay-z's lyrics only touch the surface of referencing american pop culture. So at the complete extreme end of the spectrum is Babytron. Almost every one of his lines is a reference andit makes both his production, delivery, and lyrics hilarious and enjoyable. I think that you’re finally in that place that it’s not all about lyrics. You can now accept artists that sonically sounds great to you, it’s a listen.
The reason why YB is so polarizing is because majority of rap fans and communities are white ran. Usually the “hip hop head” type of white kid. YB is a street rapper and these people can’t relate or don’t like street music (which is generally fine). YB is really a 1 of 1 because rappers like him aren’t supposed to be as big as they are. Historically there’s a ceiling on a street rapper. He kinda broke that mold and that allowed guys like Lil Baby, King Von and Lil Durk to reach crazy heights too. Usually this type of music was only played in the hood. Think of rappers like G Herbo for example. He’s great but there’s a ceiling on how big he can get. He’ll never be as big as a Travis Scott for example.
This is what’s wrong with ppl. Black or white it doesn’t matter. We’re human we can all relate to each other. Just cause YB is from the streets doesn’t mean any person of any color can’t relate to his music. Not all of it is gangster. I love all YBs music but his pain songs and love songs speak to me and that’s my favorite songs by him he makes you feel his music. Same concept as Disney changing all the characters in their movie remakes to a different skin color to “reach a new audience and be more relatable to other ppl” we can all relate no matter color. Pain is pain we all feel it were human. This comment is stupid and stereotypical
Love that you already have the timestamps out. Loved your reaction to lonely child. A lot of the songs lack substance but make up for it with intonation and emotion but lonely child has it all for me

I never wanted to listen to YBs music because I had a roommate in A school that would just blast his music on speaker like 24/7 and it drove me fucking insane. Gave him another chance with this video and I'm glad I did.
Someone has been posting Youngboys studio sessions for this album. It's crazy hearing him just freestyle all these flows, all these songs are 30-40 minutes of him just flowing and smoking in the studio. Dude is great at adding things that your mind appreciates musically.
I think one of the reasons people are turned off by him is that he pumps so much music out that it all seems to blend together, but there is no doubt he’s talented as hell. If he focused on one or two albums per year Instead of 5 or 6 more people would tune in

Just thought i should say this about him. . . YoungBoy is a great artist but he's not really a great 'album artist'. I mean many of his songs are great, but most of the albums are too long and the songs are not well structured. Most rappers take 1 - 5 years just putting their best songs together for one 'perfect album'. Youngboy simply does not care about that sort of thing. He just drops as much music as he can for his fans. He's always working and he doesn't like holding on to music, that's why he's always dropping tapes/singles every few months.
despite all the stereotypes, youngboy is one of the most vulnerable and real rappers right now. he has so much confidence in his music that it's charismatic
im glad you are listening to different types of music now. cool to see your thoughts on it. funny to see you coming from not listening to rap music and thinking its just full of violence now you're listening to youngboy 😂 haven't listened to this album inna while, forgot how much i enjoyed it
Youngboy got the moniker of a very aggressive sort of gangster, angry artist which wrote him off for a lot of people and made him and his fans the brunt of jokes for having that style and being overly aggressive/ scary. But nevertheless he makes timeless music and if you care to listen to find his more heart felt songs. You wont regret it. The youth gravitates toward him for the funny nature of his aggressive style and his heart felt music. Take note he was 16 when he came into the industry and is still growing as a person. Hes more wholesome and logical now and can expect more quality music. My favorite album of his is (TOP). I admit i at first did nto care for young boy due to that aggressive character but as i got older and went through trials, his music resonated more and he grew on me.
Lonely child is one of those songs you gotta really pay attention to what he’s saying. Cause if you’ve been thru even a quarter of what he’s been thru you can feel it because you can actually relate
I think people hate on Youngboy too much. I’m a stickler for lyricism in hip hop, if you can’t spit or you haven’t influenced the game to a huge degree then I can’t really consider you a good rapper. A lot of modern rap is lost on me, but something about Youngboy just impresses me. Maybe it’s his unique style or his prolific output and insane work ethic, I’m not really sure, he just commands my respect somehow. Hardcore rap nerds like myself might not like his style, maybe they find it too aggressive or lacking in substance, but he to me is one of the better rap artists of the modern day.
Rob, this is a great album to get into YB. You get why millions of people are YB fans though little mainstream attention. Like you said, he puts out music left and right but he does it for his fans and no one else. It might be a tough ask, but it would be great for you to listen to something he's put out in 2022 or 2023. You'll be amazed by the warp speed in which his music has evolved since 2019. I have no doubt you'll leave impressed and awaiting what he does next.
This is the most refreshing reactions I’ve watched in a while Im happy people get introduced to Youngboy and they actually give it a chance cause in my opinion he is one of the most versatile artists out and I’m glad you can understand the difference between songs like Rebels kick it and seeming like it, with that being said if you do more Youngboy I wouldn’t jump right into his newer stuff because his newer music is a lot more complicated and it’s kind of for die hard fans so you should get to know his older stuff first. This was the perfect album to introduce you to him other good ones are Realer and Until Death Call My Name. Happy you enjoyed the music 💚
@@bobthepoppop his newer stuff isn’t really more complex, i think his most complex album is decided but i don’t wanna say too much i just wanna see your raw thoughts on it
You were never steered this way because your listening to lame nerds playlists, and hip hop was never about them to begin with. This is what actual people listen to within the communities, not no damn logic,JID, etc.
Need richest opp it's his most recent project and there's a lot more goin on in terms of the lyrics due to a beef between him and lil Durk another rapper from Chicago over the death of king von a Chicago based rapper as well and one of lil Durks closest friend by the hand of quando rondo YoungBoys first signee to his never broke again label
i think the point with gang shit being after lonely child is to prove that just bc he can put his heart on the track he still is fought in the streets and it doesn’t make him any weaker in the streets just bc he can get his feelings out with music they’re separate lives to him and in a way music is his escape from his life you can see this in his interviews and how he speaks about his life and how music affects him. great reaction by the way glad you enjoyed my favorite artists definitely should check out some of his newer and older stuff!
Until Death Call My Name is my favorite and I think it’s his best with most catchiest songs. Next would be Realer. Ik AIYB2 is very popular but I didn’t really get into it besides a few songs
Do Chief Keef next “Finally Rich” for a mainstream debut “Almighty So” + “Bang 2” for double feature of some of the most influential rap music of the 2010s (and even to this day)
I can say from a unbiased view point that the hate youngboy gets is purely a trend. The famous meme “Yb better” under any other artist post has worked wonders for his hardcare fanbase. Very polarizing artist he will be talked about more highly in the future I’m willing to bet
back in 2016 as a high school freshman i had same reactions as you. fyi I hated rap bc of the sh"t they promoted, but for some reason I related to Youngboy.
Sadly his music is stereotyped…like as a fan it was crazy to see the amount of people that was surprised about his verse on Tyler’s album to the point where his was top thing trending on twitch the night Tyler album dropped
N.O.R.E was the first rapper to ever use it on a song and basically, "slime" just means "homie" to most people . But for nba youngboy i'd say it means "killer" or "gangsta" and when rappers say "get you slimed" that means "get you killed"
man you remind me of my dad, he was this guy who seemed like somebody who only would listen to like rock or something and be super close minded about music but i would play something and he would like it and id catch him listening to music like that a week later. He passed 3 years ago, man i miss him. Thank you for the smile i am definitely subscribing
You mentioned liking the synergy with the vocals and the production. Probably the best in the game at this is Gunna, he's truly a master of weaving in and out of the beat to an extend where his vocals truly become part of it. His sound is more chill than Youngboy but i think he's much more versatile. I really recommend you listen to his album WUNNA, probably his best work. Some other great albums are DS3 or Drip or Drown 2.

Youngboy is big because of kids. High schoolers elementary kiddos and middle school kiddos all LOVE Him! ( I used to be a lunch lady)
Nahh everyone listens to YB.

very true
Rob, this is a great album to get into YB. You get why millions of people are YB fans though little mainstream attention. Like you said, he puts out music left and right but he does it for his fans and no one else. It might be a tough ask, but it would be great for you to listen to something he's put out in 2022 or 2023. You'll be amazed by the warp speed in which his music has evolved since 2019. I have no doubt you'll leave impressed and awaiting what he does next.
I think sincerely Kentrell should be next
@@EcnomicSuicide 38 baby 2 is his next best album
@@levi8781 I dislike that tape it’s the only vinyl of his I didn’t buy. Maybe I gotta listen to it again
You gotta listen to Sincerely Kentrell he developed his voice and versatility on that album.
Sk his best album
YB does live a normal life...He play lotsssss of video games...YB on house areest in Utah for a year and around eight months
Happy you enjoyed the music 💚
feel the exact same way, you have to get accustomed to the newer music, colors is a great album
i think this guy would like sincerely kentrell and decided a lot
All that you said about the newer stuff makes me wanna jump in lol
@@bobthepoppop his newer stuff isn’t really more complex, i think his most complex album is decided but i don’t wanna say too much i just wanna see your raw thoughts on it
@@balencibana both beautiful albums
You were never steered this way because your listening to lame nerds playlists, and hip hop was never about them to begin with. This is what actual people listen to within the communities, not no damn logic,JID, etc.
This is what I've been trying to say but my comment always gets ghosted
Never have I thought I see the day he reacts to a yb album yb better
Its good to see someone go listen to youngboy instead of just saying he wack without checking it out
Fr
L + You Fell Off + YB Better
Need richest opp it's his most recent project and there's a lot more goin on in terms of the lyrics due to a beef between him and lil Durk another rapper from Chicago over the death of king von a Chicago based rapper as well and one of lil Durks closest friend by the hand of quando rondo YoungBoys first signee to his never broke again label
It’s not main stream cause those lyrics are real 😂
All this talk of using vocals as an instrument and looking beyond lyrics makes me think it’s time for more Young Thug
Also, Youngboy really is just better
Ambient trickling water sounds*
i think the point with gang shit being after lonely child is to prove that just bc he can put his heart on the track he still is fought in the streets and it doesn’t make him any weaker in the streets just bc he can get his feelings out with music they’re separate lives to him and in a way music is his escape from his life you can see this in his interviews and how he speaks about his life and how music affects him. great reaction by the way glad you enjoyed my favorite artists definitely should check out some of his newer and older stuff!
Until Death Call My Name is my favorite and I think it’s his best with most catchiest songs. Next would be Realer. Ik AIYB2 is very popular but I didn’t really get into it besides a few songs
After watching this review somehow I’m bopping my head to like every song 😂
Lonely Child in my top 5 YB songs tho

UDCMN is so good
Lil Uzi Vert - Luv Is Rage 1
This album is amazing man glad you enjoyed it!
Do Chief Keef next
“Finally Rich” for a mainstream debut
“Almighty So” + “Bang 2” for double feature of some of the most influential rap music of the 2010s (and even to this day)
Finally rich would have been awesome before or after acid rap because its 2 versions of Chicago kids around the same era
BFTD too
damn you get it
Bob you a reasonable guy I’m subbed fasho 😂💯
Bob finally realized YB better
ai yb 2 is the perfect first album to listen too, I mean it literally has no misses, straight hits, its hard for anyone to hate on ai yb 2
I really HONESTLY don’t even understand how this wasn’t shown to the ‘mainstream’ audience. Definitely deserving
Mr.Bob you should listen to "Finally Rich" by Chief Keef
LMAOOOAO, best album ever!!!
Slime is slang for family or close friends if you were wondering.
Thank you for the smile i am definitely subscribing
im further into the video and holy dude you remind me so much of him
A bob the poppop reaction to a lucki album would change lives
You mentioned liking the synergy with the vocals and the production. Probably the best in the game at this is Gunna, he's truly a master of weaving in and out of the beat to an extend where his vocals truly become part of it. His sound is more chill than Youngboy but i think he's much more versatile. I really recommend you listen to his album WUNNA, probably his best work. Some other great albums are DS3 or Drip or Drown 2.
so many people in that lane he should check out before gunna tho
@@steveurkel9378 he hasn't done a lot of things like he should do some uk rap like dave or fredo

Ds3 is by far his best imo
