  • Can a Broken Crankshaft be Repaired ? Yes its Possible with Amazing Skill
    Connecting two pieces of a broken crankshaft is a challenging task that requires specialized equipment and expertise. Crankshafts are essential components of internal combustion engines, responsible for converting the linear motion of pistons into rotational motion. When a crankshaft breaks, it can cause significant damage to the engine, leading to expensive repairs and downtime.
    To connect two pieces of a broken crankshaft, the first step is to inspect the extent of the damage and determine if it is feasible to repair. If the damage is too severe or in a critical area, it may be necessary to replace the entire crankshaft. However, if the damage is repairable, the next step is to prepare the broken pieces for welding.
    The preparation process involves removing any debris or foreign materials from the broken surfaces and machining them to ensure a clean and precise fit. The surfaces must be completely clean and free of oil, rust, or any other contaminants that could compromise the weld quality.
    The actual welding process involves using a specialized welding technique called "crack repair welding." This process involves heating the broken surfaces of the crankshaft to a precise temperature using a welding torch, then applying a filler material to fuse the pieces together. The filler material must have properties similar to the original crankshaft material and be compatible with the welding process.
    After welding, the crankshaft is re-machined to its original specifications, restoring its original strength and functionality. The re-machining process involves cutting and grinding the welded area to ensure a smooth surface finish and correct dimensional accuracy.
    Connecting two pieces of a broken crankshaft is a complex and delicate procedure that requires skilled technicians and specialized equipment. It is critical to ensure that the repair is done correctly to prevent any further damage to the engine and ensure reliable operation.
    this video is sure to inspire and educate.
    So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for an in-depth look at the art of this mechanic

      If you pay attention to the video, you will notice that he's not repairing a single crank shaft. The place he's welding is not where it breaks. You can see that both cranks broke beside that where the journal joins the crank. He makes a pin on one side and a hole on the other, press fits them together, welds it up and turns down the journal. The point he repaired is supported by bothe solid metal internally and the main bearing. It's not going to break there. I think I can safely say I have never seen, or even heard about, a crank shaft breaking in the CENTER of the main bearing. It just doesn't happen.

Это колено скорее все с дизельного с низкими оборотами двигателя, скорее всего даже дойц, они ходят в оригинале по 30 тыс часов спокой, сколько этот проходит?

      Crankshafts are made from mild steel, not very different from a welding rod. The only unknown is the metalurgy at the weld spot, the parts being welded are massive and temperature can't reach levels comparable to a furnace. Most likely, the engine that will be repaired with this cheap part is so old and decrepit that it will fail before the repair fails.

  • @michaelallen1432
    @michaelallen1432 Год назад +8

    I'm not so sure it's going to break. Notice exactly what he is doing. That's not one broken crank shaft welded back together. That's two crankshafts broken on either side of the main bearing. Notice what he does. He makes a pin on one end and a hole on the other. Then he press fits the two halves together. Then welds up the main bearing journal over it. The weak spots are where the journals join the crank. You can see how it broke out there. Not where he welded it.
    I suspect they all fail like that, and most in scrap yards are there because that part failed. Otherwise he would have just went and found a serviceable one rather than having scrounged up two broken ones to make a whole one from.
    It's also a good bet you can't just go buy one.
