I got a 53 HT and I’m headed down that same trail. The original 6 seems to have a very worn flex plate, sounds awful cranking, otherwise the Engine and Trans is all good. As you know either the Engine or Trans has to come out to fix that. My solution is to go SB Chevy, 350 w 350 Trans. Then the Rear end is out as well, same scenario as you have. I’m thinking 10 bolt S-10 rear end with disc brakes. Everything right now is in the thought process, or I should say budget process. And of course there’s the “War Dept to consider. Already in the Red as all my Chrome is at Chrome Wizard in Tennessee being re-plated. Walking on thin ice with all that. I really want to follow your project to see the upcoming brick walls. Thanks for the video, stay visible. Know anyone that needs an original drive train let me know. Seems my engine is the very same one used in the 53 Corvette’s. Anyway, good luck and thanks!
