  • In this video I review the previous chapter and then begin to discuss some of the verses in "Confession." Of note is the difference between Western conceptions of sin and Buddhists conceptions. A highlight is that in the West we tend to turn all our unskillful ways of being in the world into ethical issues, whereas Buddhism recognizes these same unskillful ways of being as a neurological issue. This shift moves us from an orientation that says, "I am bad," to an orientation that says, "Nothing is fixed, and I can therefore change and improve myself."
