    So interesting to see East Coast Arts and Crafts: so different from West Coast, where I'm from. Much more English influence. Here it's more Asian and Japanese influenced. And what a thrill to see a Richardson interior!!! I've known that house's exterior from photos, but what a thrill!!! Thank you!

    An Arts and Crafts mansion is an oxymoron.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 3 года назад +1

      No it is not. Arts and craft was a philosophy of design and crafts. So how is it an oxymoron.

      @@bighands69 A&C was a messy movement that meant different things to different people. But its stated goals were more about simplicity and quality in design and manufacture than it was about amplifying the grandeur and sheer size of wealthy construction. But as a practical matter, yes much of the actual construction was indeed for those who could afford to live large.

      @@edbouhl3100 the most famous and ironic arts and crafts house is a mansion, so you're wrong.

      That's why I stopped watching TOH. Craftsman houses and TOH projects require a lot of money, a _lot_ of money. TOH and, the Craftsman movement, left their roots in the working class. I love the houses, I marvel at the design and workmanship, but they are not for working people.

    This has got to be the most unnecessary extra thing I've ever seen. The full of itselfness of it all is just overbearing. Pompous beyond belief
