- With the release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, it seems the world has come down with apes fever once again. So let's rewind a little, back to the beginning of this rebooted trilogy to see just how this franchise managed to turn things around after only one failed movie through a 40 year break. In this video I will be discussing how Rise of the Planet of the Apes should be the shining example for how to reboot a franchise in a faithful, successful, and downright perfect way.

This Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy becoming one of the best trilogies out there was surprising for me.
Same here! Who would’ve thought honestly?? A rebooted trilogy of a 40+ year old franchise. Crazy!
And now it's set to become one of the best modern franchises out there with the new movie (which is amazing, I've seen it already) having come out and more set to come.
I really liked Rise but ignored the rest of the trilogy because I was more focused on the Infinity saga. I finally decided to watch the new trilogy last week. It is a crime how little it is talked about
Insane right? One of the greatest movie trilogies ever made in my humble opinion!
Fantastic video essay, Brett! I remember seeing Rise of the Planet of the Apes back in 2011 in theaters and absolutely loving it. Now over a decade later, I think it still holds up. The blend of CGI and motion capture is all groundbreaking VFX work and should’ve won the Oscar for that. Andy Serkis is phenomenal as Caesar as he continues to excel in motion capture especially when he uses his facial expressions and minimal dialogue. It’s got a compelling story and terrific action especially the climax. It was a fantastic start to the rebooted Apes series and I think it deserves as much appreciation as Dawn and War even though I adore those two. A fantastic film and one of my favorite films of 2011. Still loving the new direction you’re taking your channel, keep it up!
Thanks Jack! I couldn’t agree more my friend!! This one is so often overshadowed by its two sequels, but it still deserves all the flowers. An amazing movie that, like you said, still holds up extremely well! I appreciate the kind words Jack! 🙏🏻
I love rise of the planet of the apes such a great movie
I love it! One of my favourite movies of the 2010s! Thanks for watching Tevya!
@@BAMTubeMovies same here as well and honestly between this reboot and its sequels which I did see in theaters when this movie and sequels came out it was so awesome and amazing.
My GF laughed about me and my good friend Jonas when we got to the cinema to see new PotA. We saw the first Reboot movie yesterday, and she was in tears afterwards.
Love to hear it! They're amazing movies that I think everyone should at least give a try!!
It’s by far the best reboot to a classic series I’ve ever seen.
I think most people severely underrate these films.
I definitely agree, criminal how little these get talked about!
Loving the new switch of content Brett!
Much appreciated my friend! Your support means a lot 🙏🏻
Great video mate! I’ve now subscribed, keep up the great work 🙏🏼👍🏼
Much appreciated, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the support, cheers!
I actually grew fond of Tim burtons spinoff because of the acting and the makeup artistry
I remember loving it as a kid, it was my first experience with the franchise! Not so much nowadays but its refreshing to hear it has some fans!
When it's three movies it's a trilogy, when it gets a fourth it becomes a saga, when it expands in other medias and products it becomes a franchise
I guess Planet of the Apes falls under all categories lol
@@BAMTubeMovies well it's a gradual growth one you are a franchise you probably already have a movie trilogy and other products like toys and comics
@@eliavita not the rebooted flicks but Planet of the Apes overall no? Not sure if there are comics tbh but the 5 OG movies, remake, reboot movies, TV series’
Agree! Perfection in every aspect!
Glad to have you on my side, cheers!
I wondered if there was any juice left in the Apes saga, in the sense of story/plot after the original film & (for all it's faults, a new story concept in the Burton version) BUT here they proved that there was.
this time going for Animal rights issues, cleverly explaining the origins of it all at the same time. I thought the 3 sequel films were less than this, as they are journey man films, not getting away from the...Moses type quest across perilous terrain, for some promised land utopia.
I have seen all of them in the movie theater. Even the first ones. And the cartoon and the tv.
Oh wow, that's going back a fair bit! What a franchise though, iconic in all the best ways!
I was three when this movie came out and never saw it in theaters but we had the DVD and I would watch it everynight and would quote the phrases from the movie and start acting like the apes from the movies. I've yet to see another person in real life that has seen these movies which is sad because this tetralogy is my favorite movie series of all time.
That's so awesome! What a story! I saw the first movie in theatres with family and friends for my birthday that year, I was turning 13! Thankfully, everyone I am close with has seen, and loves these movies! They're a lot of fun to talk about and I enjoy revisiting them!
Hey Brett, I noticed that I’ve been asking you a lot of questions about music and movies, so I think now I’ll ask you a question about TV shows, I’ll start off with asking, of the ones that you’ve seen, who do you think is the most lovable idiot from a live action sitcom?
Joey Tribbiani for me! I’m a big fan of Friends, always have been. I find it super relatable, especially now as someone in their mid-20s! Great question Thiago!
Will we find out that noa distant direct descendants from Caesar in future sequels because he lookalike Caesar and they both have same eyes and birthmark?
Would be an interesting twist! Especially considering Noa was so oblivious to Caesar's legacy throughout Kingdom!
It would be interesting. For that to be the case Caesar's descendants would've had to leave their original tribe (perhaps because of disagreements with a rising anti-human sentiment) and found a new one, with a completely different culture and completely disconnected from prior ape history and isolated from other tribes. But I don't think this is the case. I think Noa just looks like Caesar because they're of the same species, and for us humans they seem similar because, well, we're notoriously bad at differentiating members of other species from each other (hell, we're even terrible at differentiating humans from different races, it's that bad lol).
Is that a Joestar Reference?
What percent would you give Rise of the Planet of the Apes?
Probably 90% out of 100!
Check it oats! It’s laid oat!
???
@@BAMTubeMovies the Canadian accent. “Out” is “Oat” lol
@@Creasey_F ah yes, right on
@@BAMTubeMovies 😂😂
Other great "reboots" to have come along years after dried up fanchises are - BAT MAN BEGINS & in my opinion any way, TOMB RAIDER, why we can't have at least one more ROBOCOP film aimed strictly at an adult audience, is beyond me, if done properly it could be great, perhaps part remake, part reboot
Yeah, Batman Begins is phenomenal! If I'm not mistaken, Amazon MGM is working on a RoboCop series! I'm not sure about timeline, reboot/remake or anything. But, I would assume they will go the R-Rated route because Prime Video doesn't seem to have a problem with any of that stuff given their most popular shows!
I hope not, there have been FOUR tv series versions (including 2 cartoons) & they were average at best PRIME DIRECTIVES didnt impress me very much, ROBOCOP isnt the kind of story suited to the small screeni if they do it again it must be a cinema offering. there were also rumours of a CONAN BARBARIAN TV series that came to nothing again a film character only @@BAMTubeMovies
