My Old College Koho 590s in Action!

- A Goalie Crease Network member sent me a message a few months ago with some photos asking if the Koho 590s with my last name written on the sides were mine. Turns out they were my old college pads from about 2005! So I bought them and he sent them to me.. and here I am wearing them in a BHL game. It was really weird playing in heavy pads with straps too short, a knee lock I'm not used to, and a glove with a broken cuff, but I still had a lot of fun and got the win!

I was waiting for this one! Great to see them out on the ice. So, are they everything you remember? Quite a step back from modern gear?
Those pads ate the puck! They sure didn’t kick out any rebounds! Should give us a quick video how they felt on the ice and what improvements have been made over the last couple years. Great video!
That's true! They really did eat that puck. A couple of those hard shots were just smothered by the pads. Great idea on the video.. I might do that in an upcoming livestream before I get rid of them, lol.

I know that this may sound like and obscure problem you probably have never had it before. But I thought i might as well ask. So I recently got a pair of bauer supreme s29s and I love them. However, whenever I butterfly and get back up my pads have shifted to the outside of my leg, so they longer sit facing straight, rather the face of the pad is pointing outward. Do you have the answer to this problem? Thanks
Hey Tommy, I know you're not a Brian's guy, but I really think you should give the GnetikIV a shot. I work at Pro Hockey Life and we just got them in. The sliding ability is incredible, not to mention the the modern strapping design working reliving stress.
The glove is the best I have ever felt in my life. It is incredible. It closes mint right out of the box and it has a new tightening and gotten design inside the MIT for optimal comfort. The blocker is insanely comfortable too. Sorry for writing you a novel, I just believe these pads are the best on the market. I figure since I can't afford them, and won't ever be able to, that someone like yourself would be able to give them a shot, I really don't think you would regret it. Again apologies for the novel
I don't mind a novel, ha! I'd LOVE to try Brian's, and I've had the opportunity to try a few sets from a buddy of mine. Ultimately, honestly, it's hard for me to afford them, especially when I have 3-4 other sets. Maybe someday I can get my hands on a set!
GoalieCreaseNet Hopefully we both hit the lottery so we can have as many sets as we please! Haha. I wish Brian's weren't so expensive, it's just crazy to think how much on an investment they are. You could go on 2 hot holidays for the 3 grand it costs!
How tall are you? Just curious because I cant seem to find a goalie pad that fits my height properly

SO true! You know what happened? Since I don't use boot straps on my modern pads, I figured I'd leave these long. But I left them too long and since they're old and flexible, I stepped right on it, lololol.
You played roller in those?
Yup, for about half a season. Maybe close to a full season. Got rid of them because I found 36" too big and they were running into my also-too-big XL Koho 590 pants.

No. I typically use game ready palms in my "snag." Might want to try a better troll next time, lol.

I didn't mention I use pro palms. I use game ready palms. But Miklin sent me a pro palm, which is fine. Not typically what I use. That said, I do play against former pros regularly. Pro palms are nice but I rarely have issues with game ready. Thanks.
You took 18 warm up shots. Only 3 were to the gloves. All other shots were wide or on your leg pads..... 😕 Classic beer league warm up
Better ratio than mine.. where half are misses and most are within a foot off the ice. AKA useless
