I really like the idea of using a bridge to disguise the entrance to the helix - but in your case taking it to the next level with the multi lane highway bridges adds part of that sense of "big power" that a smaller bridge just can't do. In the sense of "big bridge and lots of cars dwarfs a lot of things yet the train still exudes size and power." I'm definitely looking forward to the finished scene
Pretty awesome progress and updates, Steve. You got it under control. No need for feedback. LOL. Great work. I love it, man. Trains running great. Thanks for sharing. Have a great new week! 🚂👊🏼😎
Hi Steve. Great update. Awesome new scenery work, it’s really looking good. I like Mikes idea about some fast food restaurants / homes etc. along the UP line if you decide not to model a switching industry there. Cheers Brad.
This layout is fantastic. The desert scenic is quite realistic. I am impressed. It would be useful if you share with us how you overcame any problems? Will you be weathering the track and ballast to blend it in with the surrounding scenery?
Thank you for the feedback, I do plan on weathering once I get the basic scenery in. Haven't had too many problems along the way but I think as I have, I've posted in the other videos or asked for suggestions etc. Maybe at some point I can do a video of lessons learned or things I would do different. - Steve
Hi Steve, Wow! Nice surprise this morning seeing a new update with my morning coffee! Scenery work is outstanding. I-15 over the helix works real well. On the UP line out of West Colton, I think I would use that space for non-railroad scenery, Maybe an ave with In & Out Burgers, El Pollo Loco, and Roberto's Taco Shop. Making you hungry?, Lol. Hope all is well with you and the family. Take care, Mike
Good morning Mike, layout updates and coffee go great together. Thanks for the feedback, I was thinking if I didn’t add an industry in there I’d just fill it with homes or some businesses with debris along the tracks since most of that borders that line anyway but those are some great ideas. All the good CA food joints, you missed Jack in the Box too. 😁 Take care and thanks again for the ideas. - Steve
Yep, I'd add an industrial spur up by Colton there. Cement plants or sand & gravel sites are common in that area. The layout is looking good. Nice work on the ballast
This is one of the many things N scale offers: vast scenery in a small space. Your depiction, colors and prototypical curves are spot on. Just subbed!- Joey
Fantastic scenery. I really impressed with the terrains shape. I made Freeway overpasses but mine didn’t come out as effective as yours. Looking forward to seeing more of your modeling work. Dats
Thanks for the feedback, I still have a lot of detailing to do on them. I’m starting to think maybe I made them to wide now. I like the ones you made, i think they came out great. Just subscribed to your channel too. - Steve
I thought about that but don’t think I have the room or it would look too congested. It’s definitely on the list when I expand the layout. I’ll revisit to see if it makes sense and would work to add it now. Appreciate the feedback. - Steve
You've come a long way buddy since we started talking. Overall it looks pretty much just as it should when try to model Cajon. That area in Colton will be just perfect when you are done. It seems that you feel you need more switching opportunities but it isnt really needed. Your thought of homes and such would be much better. Anyway thats my 2 cents. Take care ,lookig awesome overall, especially the 215 crossing..
Thanks Bill, really appreciate your feedback and comments. The more I look at it the more I agree with not putting an industry there just to put one there. Thanks again! - Steve
That’s right, I knew that too. Is that the entire way of just where it breaks off from the others at Cajon Junction? Thought I recall west of the junction it was southern track that was new. - Steve
Thanks Joe, I think you’re referring to the overpass that’s a mock up for the 138 right now - if so, I was fortunate to buy a bundle of bridges and overpasses from another N scaler switching scales. - Steve

Thank you, I still have a few tracks to put in and some facilities on the right side of it. It's slowly getting there! - Steve

Good work on the scenery. Really captures character of the area.

Awesome ground cover love the hills
Thank you, I think I need a bit more sand color in them but like the way it’s turning out too. - Steve
Way cool !
Your layout showcases the trains with the desert scape.
Thanks Brian, I’ve still got a lot of work to do and more scenery to detail. Glad to hear others see the look I’m going for. - Steve
Awesome update, looks great. I have that yard ballast on my layout and it looks great.... keep up the great work mister talk to you soon. Gary

Nicely done in N, I've seen a couple in HO of Cajon Pass. Very well done sir.
May I ask where you got the plans ?
Thanks Terry, it was all from scratch/freehand. Used some others to get ideas and just went at it. - Steve
Things look great Steve, you have a bit of graffiti work to do if you are going to make it realistic. Seriously though looks awesome
Thanks John, I know right…. It’s not nearly enough sadly. I lived in SoCal for 25 years too - I should know better. 😁 Thanks for the feedback. - Steve
Actually the south track, Main 3, is the original track on the pass.,
That’s right, I knew that too. Is that the entire way of just where it breaks off from the others at Cajon Junction? Thought I recall west of the junction it was southern track that was new. - Steve
West of Cajon Jct both lines were relocated after 1938 floods.
