Beautiful, those old Dodges, and Plymouth 6 Cylinder engines were the best. I have a 1939 Ford Tudor with the Original 221Ci Flathead V8 That I can almost stand up in the back. And yes original is the best. Just like this Built good, well last, durable, well made, and built. And made to last.
What a beauty! So much steel in that, I bet it weighs 3 tons, if not more. So wonderfully solid. Beautiful car. Glad someone respected it, and preserved it.
Now , that's quite a car you've got here. Love those middle seats in the back. In fact , it's a limo. Chrysler Corp. produced many such vehicles , which happened to be great workhorses. Thank you for sharing.
Nice car! My Grandfather and my Aunt had a ;47 Dodge. I don't remember the the extra seats. I don't think they had those. But, I remember the paint shine ane the dashboards! I was 6-7 then. Now, I'm 71. Thanks for the memories!
T?his is a beautiful car! I would clean up and re-paint the motor to be like original. I would also have the inside properly restored. Then it would be close to what it was like when new. These cars were great vehicles.
And just like that, the first Dodge Durango was born LOL. I have a 1947 Dodge Grill hanging from the roof of my garage over top of my beer fridge, just for looks. Cool car.
my dad had one of these 1947 Dodge it was awesome!!!!! they were like a Sherman Tank tough it could probably take out anything on the streets nowadays.
chrysler made lots of limos and 8 passencer sedans, some dodge 8 passenger seedans, de soto "suburbans" and a gazillion de soto 8 passenger sedans to be used as taxis in 1946-1948 --- good looking durable cars
We used to call the doors that open at the front edge "suicide" doors. I guess because they could fly open, if cracked open while driving. Or it could have meant "if one were wishing to exit the car while it was in forward motion, it would be easier jump out".
IN 60 YRS. YOU WILL NOT FIND ANY NEW CAR MADE IN THE LAST 20 YRS. LEFT STANDING IN AS GOOD AS SHAPE AS THIS. ARE WE REALLY ADVANCING NO WE ARE REGRESSING. ALL THE ADVANCEMENTS HAVE BEEN FOR THE RICH. NOT FOR THE MASSES. THIS CAR WAS MADE FOR THE MASSES.
My grandmother used a Dodge taxi to go to church. Great fun to use the jump seats. The cameraman said Thanks just once while he ordered his assistant around like she was just some lackey. Rude.

A little soap on the fan belt would quiet her right down. I'm 77, remember these cars quite well as my Dad and Uncle both owned one.
Very rare seven passenger Dodge.
Makes me miss my 42’ dodge convertible.
I sold that in 2002 after owning it for 30 years.

I was born in 1985, and this is my dream car
I've always liked the Chrysler products of that era. I owned a 48 New Yorker many years ago.
So did my dad
Chrysler is now rubbish.

Wow that second looks very comfy and inviting.
Beautiful car .... Lovely 🇦🇷
Has the upright seating, interior room and profile of a modern day SUV. At least moreso than most cars that followed this in the 50s-70s
Very nice, lots of legroom in the back...
Yes, but not with the Jump Seats being used.
Nice original car
Pretty car, James. GLWTS

I rode in one of these when I was around 6 or 7 thought that back seat wa Huge (I was alone) in back.

Same basic body shell.
Looks very similar to Mr Cunningham's DeSoto.
The original Soccer Mom's car
