They withstood a lot of harassment and attempted subjugation from Israel and rose up to push the Israelis for the most part (with the exception of Shabaa Farms) back to Israel. I thought most of the fighters were drawn from Lebanon's Shia community based in Southern Lebanon.

Despite the massive and continued success and strength of the Lebanese resistance movement, if Lebanon didn’t have Zionist loving criminals such as Samir Geagea, Lebanon would be in a much much better position to defend Lebanon from the Israeli aggression. But those in Lebanon such as Geagea (the war criminal who is head of the Lebanese Phalange group or ‘Lebanese Forces’ who carried out the Sabra and Chatila massacre in 1982), who help the Israelis and are fully backed by the US, are the ones responsible for the economic and political pressure being placed upon the Lebanese people to get them to turn against the resistance and although it has failed miserably, that is not to say it hasn’t cause massive suffering of the Lebanese people. But what they always fail to understand is the sheer strength and steadfastness of those with honour and dignity- qualities these evil criminals are completely void of along with humanity and compassion.
