    The biggest pros of Zip Top:
    -goes through a dishwasher better than certain other brands
    (Big selling point because some reusable bags are a PAIN to hand wash)
    -steaming batches of veggies in the microwave
    -*temporary* storage of small/snack batches of fruit or veggies
    -withstands kid use
    (Kids can be rough with their things lol)
    Biggest downsides:
    -not meant for long-term storage in the fridge or freezer (very short term is fine)
    -doesn't 100% perfectly seal at the top
    -Availability (sold out at Costco & I never see this at my local target...yes, I know they're online but at the time I wanted to start out, pick just "one" or "two" up & test it...shipping prices stink lol)
    -the clear colored zip tops will get a *slight* orange tint if you *frequently* store a tomato based sauce/salsa in them...I don't have the green, purple or other colors so I don't know if those will stain
    ...
    I have a few of these & mostly use them for snack size portions of fruit/veg. Plus great for steaming a batch of broccoli for mealtimes.
    I have put small batches of fruit in the freezer with these but after a month or two minor freezer burn will happen...definitely very short term freezer storage...I like them for what they are & what they can do, but yes they're not perfect, fyi
    Can say that I do use less plastic snack bags this way

    Thank you for this review. These looked really cool but every complaint you have presented has demonstrated that this is basically a completely useless product. He literally uses crumbs falling out of a baggy into a back pack and goes "if you're tired of this..." as an example of why to use the product as opposed to something else. Also if the soup is going to leak and splatter because the stupid thing pops open as part of the design is just downright irresponsible. If it can't seal properly don't tell people to freaking put any kind of hot liquid in the product. You're going to get ppl hurt. These blatantly don't do what they claim to do. I would have sent it back and demanded a full refund.

    Maybe I use mine differently. I’ve never used them for the freezer, but I love them for sandwiches in a cooler and for slices of fruit and stuff in them. They are really nice for saving stews and stuff like that in the fridge. Of all of of them the large meal ones are my favorite since I like Mac n cheese, saving cookies I make, and soups/stew.

    • @MotherhoodwithTeya
      @MotherhoodwithTeya  3 года назад +2

      Oh that does not sound nice. I didn't have this issue. But I did notice my Zip Tops got sticky after drying them in the window... the sun is maybe effecting the silicone? My Stasher was mostly used for dry goods, so I think that's why it didn't get really dirty.

    • @MotherhoodwithTeya
      @MotherhoodwithTeya  3 года назад +2

      Yes, they go in the dishwasher. They do how ever stay wet, as most silicone products, the heat dry doesn't dry them. So they need a towel or more air drying after. Hand washing is an option too.

      Thanks for confirming, I appreciate your review. I still think I'm going to purchase the set and try handwashing them to see how the seal holds up.. Regardless of the outcome I love the concept of the product and I have no problem with Zip Top taking my money.. Lol 😉

  • @Alien2799
    @Alien2799 Год назад

    Interesting. That is pretty bad that they do not zip completely.
    The concern I had when watching their commercial is that because of the squeezing on top you effectively decrease the volume. So for example in a similar container, you might be able to put in 750 ml of soup but because here you have to get the sides together maybe you can put in only 500 ml of soup. Do I get it right?

    Seriously, just put a small binder clip out two on there to seal them. It'll work. What doesn't work is the insane price. I just bought 2 packs of 2 snack size silicone bags (that have a small down clip that holds the bag sealed) for $3.49 at Aldi. The full size one was the same price.

    For freezer, you *could* put whatever in to freeze them and then (yeah I know) put the container *inside* of a freezer bag. Then, since the freezer bag doesn't get dirty at all, you can reu see them. (If you already have them and want a way to freeze in them.)
