I've watched every video Woodland Mills has put out....and I gotta tell you this video was more informative and useful as a new saw owner than all of theirs combined! Excellent!
This might be the best Woodland Mills video on RUclips. I'll be checking all these extra details on the mill to make sure I have everything dialed in. Thank you for the time to walk through all this.
Was very pleased to find this video. My HM130 Max arrives tomorrow. I WILL BE USING THIS VIDEO FOR THE ASSEMBLY. :-) Many thanks from a starter in Oklahoma.
As My Buddy Sawing with Sandy would say, That video is a Beautiful Thing! Thank You So Much For Your Expert counsel here. I’m Purchasing the HM 130 Max real soon and will rely heavily on this Priceless Wisdom. So Thankful to You for sharing Your Knowledge with Us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this assembly video. Several very important tips! I especially like the spacer boards for setting up the tracks. I will make some spacer boards this morning! I just started unpacking my brand new Max 130 yesterday that I received 2 days ago. I’m glad that I found this video first before starting assembling it today. This is not my first bandmill. I bought a Central Machinery from harbor Freight 5 years ago. I can see a few techniques in this video that would’ve helped me 5 years ago with that setup. Thank you once again. I too enjoy watching videos from different sayers of milling logs but I enjoy milling my own logs much better more fun. But I learn different techniques from different people from every video. Take care.
I was assembling my HM 122 at about the same time you posted this video. Wish I'd known about it at that time. Even so, because of this video, I'm going to recheck a couple of things. Thank you.
A personal thank you to Dan for your help in getting my sawmill going. The blade that come on the new mill had oil residue, which made the belts slick. After ruining 2 blades, talk to Dan, and he gave me great info to clean it all up really good, use no water for the first log or two. Worked absolutely perfect. Thank you again Dan.
Great informative video, thank you so much! I’ve run my HM126 for about 30 hours now and you just helped clear up some issues I was having. Much appreciated!
I'm in the process of putting my HM 130 MAX together and I Have to Agree with Mark Edwards, This is the best video I have found. I Do have one note to add, I Recommend Running A Brick Layer String or chalk line From front to back down one side of trailer while maintaining the 37" spread. This will help keep it straight and true.
great combination of experience, skill and thoughtfulness - probably one of the best how-to assembly videos ever made, for any piece of equipment, so many invaluable little hints, tips, and tricks to create and maintain a “happy saw”
This is such important information it should be mandatory viewing by any current or future Woodland mill owner! Thank you for an excellent tutorial and video!
Thank you for an excellent video and tutorial. I have the HM130 max and had already built it per the manual, was having an issue with the saw head rolling smooth. Thought I needed to adjust the track per the manual states that even though I spent a few hours leveling and making sure it was square before placing the saw head on the tracks. After watching your video, I went back and adjusted the wheel wire/whisks as you mentioned earlier to cut them if they were too long. As soon as I backed off of them, the saw head rolled freely and no scraping noises. I am happy to say I milled my first log today and really appreciate your techniques and advice.
Hey Sir how are ya? Well I watched this videos for a 3rd time now. This is the best video on RUclips for assembly and tuning of the hm130 Max. Thank you so much for all the info on how to set it up. God bless you and yours.
Really useful. Wish I could've heard what you were saying when the engine was running, but couldn't. Guess I'll have to figure out whatever that was about on my own! But really useful tips that we intend to put to use assembling our mill. Really excite to get started on Friday!
Video addressed several issues that I have had. One that I am about to tackle. Woodland should buy you a steak dinner for making this! Better than Josh looking pretty in his $100 forestry pants. Their tech support is great, but fact of the matter is that these mills are made and assembled over seas and don't always get checked well before being sent out. Ideally, they would have a Woodland employee setting up each sawhead before they get boxed, but obviously these machines are built to be a good value, and a good value they are. I especially like that they put common part numbers for bearings and belts in owner's manual so you can source parts locally. That says a lot about the company. Thanks again for the fantastic video.
Thanks for the compliment. I agree tech support is awesome. I did this video for you weekend warriors out there when tech support isn’t open. For what it’s worth I think Josh does an amazing job on there videos. He tells it like it is.
@@woodlandindustries Would you mind sharing where I could find one of those micro levels? Looked all over here. Hard to find a good quality one. I'm in Northern Wisconsin. Thanks, again.
First of all - excellent video, one of the VERY best about a WM assembly. I watched it a couple of times when assembling and fine tuning my first mill, but when I bought my second mill I really watched this video properly, slowly and carefully. And I always recommend this video to anyone who buys a mill. Dan, I would like to make a small contribution, to this part: ruclips.net/video/f7ek9lLmmdI/видео.html When fine tuning mine I discovered I don't need to trim anything, just release that one bolt and pull out or push in those cables as much as needed. I also used the opportunity to "squeeze" them a little bit more, now they really keep the wheels clean.
Woodland will be shipping my mill the end of this month, hopefully. I thank you for all the tips on adjusting these mills. I've seen quite a few on leveling the blade horizontally with the bunks but ive never seen anyone show how to adjust how level the blade is front to back. Neither has anyone talked about ensuring the belt riding true on idler pulley . Also ensuring the water flow valve isn't interfering with full throttle. And nobody has pointed out the adjustment for minimum blade height. Thanks again. Great video. This is one video, all new comers to these mills should watch.
I'm putting mine together now the trailer is together 37" with all the way down but if you squat down and look down the track appears to be a slight dip i hope it doesn't effect the cut I can't seem to get it out. The trailer you have look way easier to keep your track straight.
I ordered the HM130 Max last week and already wish that I had ponied up the $1700 for a trailer mounted unit. This looks much easier to assemble. Oh well I have about 2 1/2 months to prepare my site.
I got the Hm130 max all put together. Feeling the blade on the back side of the drive wheel and follower wheel. The blade hangs over on both sides about 1/8 of an inch. Should I adjust the blade tracking so the blade sits flush with the back side of the cast wheels?
Very helpful video. I'm waiting on my 130Max and would like a trailer like that. Do yo have any in stock and how can I go about purchasing one from you? Please let me know.
@@woodlandindustries , I received the mill yesterday. Almost finished the trailer. My concern is lifting the head up onto the rails once finished. Any reason I could put the head on before the axles, wheels, and hitch to reduce the hight of lifting the head. My Kubota BX would have a much easier and safer go at 6 inches lift hight, instead of 2 feet.
@@452Boatman If you do it make sure the trailer is perfectly straight before you put it on. It will be a lot harder to adjust the trailer after you add the weight of the saw head. Make sure you have the mill secured to the track before you start lifting the trailer. Things could get messy if you don't. I personally would finish the trailer but I see where your coming from. Your BX might not lift it. I don't think its rated for that kind of weight so If that's your only option be careful.

I cut longer than 20' but the Woodland Mills trailer isn't designed to add more than one extension.. I attach extra extensions to the end of my trailer when I need longer cuts but I'm not mobile with the extra length. I have to remove them when I'm towing.
I don't have any extensions on my trailer yet. How much would it cost to get one track and trailer extension and one more track to do something similar like you did when I need to mill longer lumber? I'm in NC for the shipping cost.
Hi Gary there's a wait on all the different models right now. I have mills in stock but they all have customers names on them who ordered them and are scheduled to pick them up.
Not to be critical but something worth noting that almost all people posting videos may not think about. When recording in a garage or something similar, the mike should be worn and not set off somewhere because it amounts to an echo chamber and some of us have a hard time listening to what is being said when sound is bouncing off walls etc. I just bought a 130MAX and wanted to watch to see how to assemble it but had to give up because of the echo effect.
Just out of curiosity, how is this video supposed to be instructional when it's recording only one frame every few seconds from 20 feet away? I wanted to see the saw head assembly and instead of being able to watch that, you far forward through to talking about some random things that have nothing to do with the actual assembly.
Maybe read the comments others have posted. Sorry it wasn’t helpful for you. This video was put together to help new owners dial in their mills. After all that’s the tricky part. The owners manual covers all the easy stuff.
