  • Cruising along the Chobe River on the border of Botswana and Namibia on the "Pride of the Zambezi". A luxury houseboat. Experience incredible African sunsets and watch the big 5 from up close. Not to mention the most amazing gourmet cooking in the African wilderness.

Please excuse the shaky footage and dodgy editing, this was one of my first videos, made a few years back with a hand held camcorder. Way too much zooming in and out, and it was before the days of effective on-board stabilisation, which has got much better since then. I was going to hide it, but it's historic and part of the RUclips journey. So I guess it stays!

Our passion is to travel, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have done our share of exploring the world, camera in hand. We're travel fanatics, keen anglers, photographers and occasional travel bloggers, with a particular weakness for road trips, the great open spaces of Africa, tropical Islands and Europe’s culture and history. But actually, we're fans of anywhere that we haven’t yet been, wherever that might be.

I want to do a trip like this but the boat sounds extremely loud.

It was quite some time ago so I don’t recall exactly. But I don’t remember it being too loud. The cabins are all towards the front as well, so it’s not really a problem. And they anchor at night so it’s dead quiet, just the sounds of hippos in the river, and one night we heard a lion roaring. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend it.

      @@Kangela Thanks. I'm planning it.

@@Kangela Might I ask if some agency arranged your entire trip, including the Victoria Falls and Kruger portions. I'm currently looking at just the boat, but it would make sense for me to see those other things having paid the airfare. If you can help, please do, though I can probably figure it out.

We didn't use an agency, I seldom do that, I prefer to make my travel arrangements myself. I can direct you to some companies that I know of who help with that stuff. Let me know if that would be helpful, I'm happy to send their details.

@@Kangela I too have always made my own arrangements, and would never even have considered anything resembling a tour. However, time passes and I'm 69 and recently had a small stroke from which I am hopefully recovering, so I feel less capable unfortunately. And I have a history with Africa that isn't so very pleasant from when I was traveling on my own there in the 1980s. Not sure I have the same fortitude.
      Thanks for responding.
