This was so helpful, thank you! Also, a sizing question about your black blazer from The Curated--I bought one in an XS, and it felt too big. But your blazer looks perfectly proportioned. Wondering if you could share the size you chose?
I loved the way you styled a very simple black jean with the white button up and the surprising necklace. I love to add beautiful jewelry to very simple style. I also think you could throw on one of those leather jackets with the outfit and it would look super cool. I was glad for the suggestions on the two different types of leather jackets because my sister just gifted me a couple from her wardrobe when she was purging!
Love, love, love intelligent fashion bloggers. That's the nuance. "We need more ideas"...Subscribed. I am just tired of mind numbing "buy-buy-buy" rhetoric for fashion channels
Love the pearl necklace. That said… “toME” it still needs more. Looks (again, “to Me”) like you ran out before you finished getting dressed. Not bad.. just lacking. But how YOU present yourself, must first and foremost please YOU!
Thanks for making me excited to play with the wardrobe I already have, rather than feeling obligated to go out and consume more pieces! Love your style and design-driven explanations.
I’ve been shopping my closet for the last 6 months. Every Tuesday! Haha it’s my me time. It’s helped me understand what I have and don’t have. I have stuff I love but nothing that goes with it. Now when I feel like shopping it’s more directed to looking for something that goes with the articles of clothing that I would like to wear but need something specific to go with it, instead of just buying more random pieces. Color analysis also help a lot concerning keeping my closet streamline so I don’t have all kinds of color palettes that don’t mix and match.
I’m not sure I fully understand the question but for example: I have a skirt I bought years ago and never wore. I started trying it in with things I have in my closet. I found something I already owned that looks great with it but I didn’t have any shoes so I bought the perfect pair to put it all together. The were on clearance. Score! I have a pair of silk Palazzo pants that I was struggling with and pulled a shirt out of a bag that I had set to go to thrift donation and I am adjusting and upgrading it *making it shorter and putting some elastic in the waist band and replacing the buttons, to make it the perfect match to the pants. I’m trying to be more conscious about what I buy and get rid of. It’s taken me long enough but it’s better late then never.
Not only did I find your tips helpful, but I found them different than other channels I have been recently viewing. You gave me a lot of ideas for an event I'm going to this week, and I really appreciate that!
I’ve been wearing a special occasion bracelet nonstop for the last two weeks or so and have no plans to take it off. It’s waterproof and hasn’t got caught on anything. Before that, it hadn’t seen the light of day for almost two decades.
I’ve probably spent a few hours on You Tube trying to find clothes styling that I like. Was about to give up when I found this. You’re thinking about recycling rather than buying. You’ve created some fun pairing but still retain a minimalist and stylish aesthetic. And your style is ageless. Shall subscribe in the hope you do more of this.
Having to bundle up a lot lately, I've been mixing my classic/heritage winterwear with funky colorful homemade knits! Now that I think about it, it works so well because of the tension between, for example) the sensibleness of an old charcoal herringbone overcoat and the silliness of a fuzzy multicolor striped scarf and bright pink beret, but there is also harmony in the tension because both elements share a theme of warmth and coziness!
I totally agree on the jewelry! I wear a single strand classic pearl necklace very frequently. Sometimes weeks at a time. Work, church, lounge weekend wear 😊
I'm going to do it!! I love the pearls with the white blouse. I also just bought a silver bag and I do feel like it elevates the style. Love your video.
New subscriber - great video! I'm trying to find ways to shop my closet more and fall back in love with items I already own. Can't wait to watch more...
This is useful. Sometimes I go out fashion shopping 🛍️ and buy what I already have. Now I dig through my wardrobe and find nice outfits I haven’t seen. When I wear them, people compliment saying how nice they are
Beautiful necklace! I wear 4 strands of pearls in different lengths with a button-down (especially a denim button-down) and it looks amazing. I like the top unbuttoned low and the pearls help cover me up. And they brighten your face. Lovely!
A mic would significantly up your game. The content is excellent otherwise, and your ways are elegant yet friendly. You’re classy yet approachable. Kudos.
Great ideas. I have many nice pieces of clothings, jewelries, purses and shoes that I love but not having enough special occasions to wear, but now I can start mixing them in with my casual dressing to definitely make it more interesting. Thank you.
I get this. I have classic smart holiday clothes. I’ve had for years. I look after them well. Day to day, I don’t want to look over the top. I’ve just retired so I’m into new grand babies at the moment. So not glamorous. This has given me middle of the road options. Going out, looking smart, hands free bags, layers. Thank you.
Great video! I have so many beautiful pieces that I love but haven’t been able to figure out how to wear. These ideas are like a lightbulb. I am excited to pair them with my workhorse items for that stylish twist. Thanks so much 😊
Hello Adeline! You shared some really good styling tips! I have a pearl necklace that I usually only wear for special occasions and how many of those are in one’s life? So, I’m going to take your advice and wear my necklace with casual outfits. I love that necklace so why not?! I also like the idea of pairing masculine (a structured blazer) with feminine (skirt or casual jeans). I’ve seen this fashion style tip on another channel but the pieces you wore were more suited to my style and personality. In closing, I get lazy 😮 and will combine the same old outfit pieces together. This video has inspired me to look at my pieces differently for some new, updated fall looks. Thanks again and I look forward to watching more of your videos!
I see and appreciate the style ‘friction’ you are recommending here, but at my age (70+) it’s hard to make that leap. Sneakers and a skirt is about as far as I can go without worrying that I look ‘confused’. I guess I just need to ease into it.
First video I've ever seen of yours. Subscribed :) You've inspired me to wear my mum's short string of formal pearls and long strings of freshwater pearls and gold beads together. I've been waiting for inspiration since she passed! Thank you!
Love this video. You have inspired me to stop buying so much and start thinking of different ways to style what I already have in my wardrobes. Thank you so much. 🌸
Love it! I have lots of jackets and blazers and lets not forget, those jeans in different styles. Getting creative with what we already have is a lot of fun.
Liked the video every suggestion is like before the internet was created and we all had our own ideas on how we felt great and comfortable in our own clothes.
Just discovered you, I like your style. My go to for making an outfit more interesting is a scarf especially here in Scotland in the winter! Also if I’m mixing weird colours it brings them together and makes it look more intentional. 😊
I love doing the weird color thing. I do kind of a geek “chic” thing where I’ll just wear whatever colors/patterns together that I feel like wearing and because in some cases it’s so mismatched it looks quirky. Or I’ll pick a common element between the patterns and make it flow a bit better.
My New Year's resolution .... bit early I know but I have to plan for it. 365 days of not buying a single stitch of clothing, shoes, hats, purses, scarves..etc. I have one body and plenty of clothes.
Thank you for your ideas! I'd like to add that the items need to be of a similar (pristine) quality for it to work. E.g. if the base cap was looking like it was worn a few times, maybe on a hike (getting sweaty and whatnot) it would certainly drag the fancy outfit down.
Mine is an old one from Everlane. I came across this brand on The Outnet and they have quite a few nice ones (and a great price point!) - bit.ly/46V6RRb or bit.ly/48RXIuB or bit.ly/402J8MK
thanks so much for the ideas and pleasantly surprised that i seem to have some of your outfits in my wardrobe.........now to find those pearls; now a subscriberx

Thank you for the discount code on the necklace! I just used your link and code to order it. Absolutely beautiful. Your video really made me look at pearls in a new way. Loved the video!
I absolutely love the idea of getting my creative juices flowing and work with what you already have instead of always looking for something new or having to spend money. Thank you for the tip/reminder! Besides, isn't the whole idea of personal style/expression about wearing what you love instead of giving into every trend?
First sentence and I had to write immediately. So totally agree. I love watching just for ideas so that I can come up with fresh ways to wear what I already have and gain a new appreciation for them.
I really enjoyed this informative video and it really helped me think about clothing i have in my closet i haven't wearn in a while Thanks for doing this for people like me .❤
In the 10 years that I have had this jacket, I have never been bothered by the belt. Now that you have pointed it out, it's all I can see 😆😂 I can actually just take it off the jacket
@@AdelineLoke Hi Adeline, Lol... It was bothering me so much and I thought that you looked amazing, but that belt has to go. Fresh eyes, lol. Glad it comes off.
Great video. Thank you. Could you please name the white button down shirt or give alternatives that you would recommend? The Sezane link does not exist anymore. Thank you Adeline for your continued inspiration.
Great ideas. I liked the idea of giving an item an adjective and pairing it with its opposite. I’ll remember that and try it out. What would you call the pants you’re wearing with the wool jacket? They’re just what I’m looking for but can’t find!
You just gotta tuck and make sure it's flat. Sezane have another shirt called the tomboy (I own it too) - it is not as oversized as the Max shirt so less fabric that you need to tuck in xx
