This is Bro.Joseph preaching the truth,I have read or listened to this discourse for 50 years. I remember my grandfather speaking of it.There is nothing controversial about these words from a living prophet.
All truth is controversial to "the world". Especially something so contrary to the modern day view on "God". Even many mormons question much in this discours if they've heard of it or even read it at all. 50% of them when told that our Father and God was once a man like us and that lived on another planet experience much shock and worry. They push it aside and try to ignore they even came across it

So please allow me to answer your question as clearly and as simply as i might. Considering the many topic and teachings one could draw from, the pride of the world in opinions about God, in traditions and assumptions, is often the most difficult Canyon to traverse. Heres the simple answer first: We believe that the very same process which is contained all throughout the Bible, still carries on today in our day, upon this very same Earth which all of the events contained within the Bible too place, and that although man changes, God does not. Therefore, He continues today the same as He did back then: humans stray from the path causing mass division and confusion. They change the original ordinance to fit their various whims. This is well documented all throughout the Bible. So the God raises up and calls a Prophet, teaches him, and commands him to go into the various parts of the Earth to re-declare His word, establish additional teachings if needed to fix any errors, call them to repentance, and to receive the correct ordinances of God without the confusions the world had introduced. This always resulted in massive cries for bloodshed, driving them out of their towns, heresy, casting of stones, etc etc etc. So, our message is the same, that once again, and for the last time before His coming, God called a Prophet, revealed again His teachings which had been removed, reestablished the authority to perform sacred ordinances, and to go out into all the world to proclaim these things to all who have a heart to hear. Just as before, in mass, those Prophets have been apposed on every turn. So, what do we think of the teachings Joseph Smith added back to the Bible? We give thanks to God, that He loves us, has not abandoned us, still is reaching out for us, and has remained unchanged in His ways. Only the pride of the world seeks to convolute who He is and proclaims that He changes His ways, but not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We give thanks that He has not abandoned this world, but continues to follow the very same pattern He has always followed, in that He reveals His secrets only to His prophets. And today as before, the world rejects and casts him out for teaching the very same teachings as before, and the world again seeks to change and remove the things they dont like or cant understand. A clean soul comprehends the things of God as they are. An unclean soul can see only filth and cannot comprehend true meanings. And a confused soul will be confused still being decieved by cunning lies. However, the true spirit of god teaches and enlightens the mind and strengthenes the soul to see things they couldnt see before. Man may change often, but God never does. His ways are still His ways.
He simply restored lost truths. I’m going to politely ask you a question. Why do “Christians” (in quotes to differentiate, because we are too, no disrespect intended) all worry about the things that have been restored but, don’t get concerned about the things removed? I will give only 2 examples. 1) Where are the apocrypha? They were once included but now, gone. In fact many European Bibles still contain them. 2) In the NIV of the Bible complete verses of 1 Corinthians 15 have been removed. Does that concern you? I will say this, I know that Joseph Smith was called of God and was in fact his prophet. He continues his work, on the other side and all he ever did was testify that Jesus Christ died for us.
