What’s your opinion on El Cabanyal in Valencia? 🤔

Hello Mari, my wife and I have been watching your videos and we were excited, and a little nervous, when we saw the title of this video because anytime there is a video on El Cabanyal it tends to be overly emotional, and frequently the negative comments are out of date.
This video was outstanding!! Our family visited Valencia twice before moving here and we moved to Cabanyal about a month ago. We've noticed the same exact things you have noticed: El Cabanyal is absolutely an area in transition, there are literally construction cranes everywhere and the secret seems to be out. So far, our first impressions are that the locals (who have been here for generations) are lovely. They are concerned about the rising costs, about foreign investors turning Cabanyal into a big AirBnB, and want you to respect their community. That said, most people have been kind and warm to us, especially our daughter. It was a great idea to interview a local merchant. Her comments are consistent with what we have heard from others in the area. We will visit her shop for sure. Thanks for the balanced and thoughtful video on this beautiful barrio.

We visited in July/August and weren’t very impressed with El Cabanyal save for the beach and a great bar we went to for tapas and drinks. We much more enjoyed other parts of Valencia. It’s definitely for certain people, especially those who want to be close to the beach and don’t mind trekking into the city. We loved being near the action more.
Your videos keep delivering. Keep up the great work. Can you do more of these and cover other specific neighborhoods. I know you did one recently briefly covering some of them but more in depth stuff would be great. Thanks for all you do, have a great weekend.

Thank you Mark! Will do another one sometime! What would you like me to cover more in such videos where I show neighborhoods? Would love to hear your opinion so that I can make them more in depth. Likewise, have a great weekend!

    Thanks for sharing!
A bunch of people on the Spain NLV Facebook groups talk this area up, but idk if it's worth the rental price for me when I seem to find other areas cheaper, but who knows. I haven't been to Valencia yet!

I hear you, it's something you should probably come and see by yourself. I liked this area, I will be showing it to everybody who comes to visit me. But this neighborhood had too much of a chill laid-back vibe for me. But it's cool to have quick access to the beach I must say...

It depends on the area of El Cabanyal. I had friends living there years ago and the neighbourhood was just normal. More like a little village. The area where las Casitas Rosas are (the big old residential buildings that you showed), that I wouldn't recommend at all. No one goes there. I even know taxi drivers that wouldn't go there at night. But if you avoid that area, the rest of El Cabanyal is fine.
