another thing worth mentioning is AHJ. Sometimes depending on your local regs you may have to follow IMC code and not NFPA.
I see a bunch of guys just cutting the sample tubes to fit and not paying attention to the holes in the tubes. I didn't catch you mentioning anything about the number of holes in the sample tube. Is there somewhere in NFPA 72 that address this?

Can you mount a duct detector inside the air unit at the beginning of the supply?
How many duct detectors can be installed in a loop.?
That entirely depends on the manufacturer of the parts. There is not a code limiting that.
